The bandit elf groans. "We work for Hulil Lutan, the dwarf priestess of Tiamat. She works for the Uttolot family in Shadycreek Run, and her sister robbed Pelec's a couple months ago. Hulil is sick though, she's turning cold and blue and can hardly move these days. She sent us here to see if we can find anything that would work as a cure, but we hadn't seen anything. She's still in Croaker Cave with a few more of us." He looked around the room and nodded at the wall, "We hadn't made it to the back room yet though, but if you got nothing else I'll be on my way."
(Most of the natives to Eiselcross are humans and halflings. But there are plenty of all manner of people who come through regularly in search of treasures from the Aeorian crash site)
Petros turns to the group, “What should we do with them? They still tried to murder us so we can’t just let them off with a warning. I say we kill half of them, and let the rest go.”
Cade turns to Petros. "Kill em? No. I say we let em go or call the Glassblades." He shrugs. "Either way is fine with me."
"If we killed everyone tryin to murder us..." Cade holds up his hand and looks at his fingers in jest. Then he shakes out his hand and laughs. "A whole lot of killin it'd be."
While the others deliberate what to do with the bandits, Cade heads over to the back room. He examines the door for anything unusual. If he cannot see anything, he will enter the room.
The bandit shrugs at Doc. "Just these as far as I know."
Cade, as you enter the back room, what appears to be an ice statue of an elf is bundled beneath the blankets of a bed along the east wall of the room. A small table loaded with dirty teacups and a kettle stands next to the bed.
Gellwin recoils at the talk of murder and follows Cade into the back room, " The owner? So it is likely one of the artifacts on the receipt.....if the illness makes them turn blue and cold....one of the mentioned artifacts was blue....but they could just mean blue from cold...."
" Its not the dagger though. Because that didn't make it here.....I think. I'm a bit discombobulated."
Seeing everyone leave the room, Petros shrugs and says “Guess I’ll make the choice myself.”
He randomly picks two bandits and slashes their throats and turns to the other bandits. “You’d all best get going now.” He then drags the bandit corpses outside the shop and walks back into the building and enters the back room.
Seeing the ice statue he says “Perhaps we should find some experienced cleric selling spells? A curse removing spell might save this person. Assuming they are still alive.”
McRoy's eyes bulge and he freezes in place with rage and despair at the callous murder of two men in front of him. If a soft, detached voice, he says, "Petros... I could have saved them. My Gods man, why? What have you done? They were defeated and defenseless... why?"
Petros glances out the door and says, “They attacked us just for entering the shop. We could have been anyone and I think they still would have attacked. A child could have entered the shop and these bandits might’ve still attacked. Maybe it was wrong it kill them, but I believe the world is better off without them.” “Bones, if you want to save lives, we can’t let those who indiscriminately kill to live.”
Hearing the commotion, Cade heads outside. He looks from Pellos to the two dead bandits and back. There is no particular expression on his face. He returns to the back room and addresses Gellwin. “Yes, Pelc pro’ably. Poor fellow.” He scratches his head. “It ain’t the dagger alright, cause that one never made it to the cave. Must be some of em other items that’s cursed.”
Cade nods. Then he looks around in the room once more.
(@gnomes is there anything in the room that looks like it might be of interest or something that looks like it could use some investigation? floor boards etc.?)
”Be’er alert the authorities about his state.” He points to Pelc then turns to Bones and Gellwin. “And after? To the caves?”
Cade nods. Then he looks around in the room once more.

(feel free to roll a perception check)
The authorities are easy enough to find, as is the cave when you are ready to head there. As you all get close to the cave you can see the many tracks from the bandits going in and out regularly, and a small plume of smoke from an opening at one side of the cave. There are no signs of patrols or guards though, as the entrance to the cave comes in to view...

"How many among those at the cave have contracted the sickness?"
The bandit shrugs at Doc. "Just these as far as I know."

Gellwin backs away from Petros and rushes out of the shop to throw up into the snow.....finding himself staring into the dead faces of the two elves.
How did he find himself here......

Two of the bandits are still unconscious, but the questioned one makes a break for it, disappearing into the cold wilderness.

Bones looks on morosely. "Pray."
Cade nods. Then he looks around in the room once more.

“Seems like that’s the best choice.”

Did we not take a long rest?
Gellwin slumps along behind the others, silent and tucked into their furs, seeing the cave they offer to head in first relying on their darkvision.
