"We're looking for a cure for this disease that's been running through Palebank Village... and for a couple of my friends here."Kha points gestures to Roxaria and Trem. "Word is that it's in this Salsvault up in the ruins of Aeor."
"A perilous journey indeed. I wouldn't mind lending a hand hand, if your party does not mind. Otherwise I think I will head to Syrinlya. I sincerely thank you again for helping me"She looks to the others "Is anyone badly injured, I can offer some healing?"
Roxaria moves over to the fire with Trem to keep warm, bandage her wounds and rest up. “How are you feeling, Trem? Any worse? You put up a good fight back there.”
Roxaria turns at the mention of Lady Elowyn providing some aid, “Yes. I would be most grateful if you could heal me and anyone else that might need it.”
She pauses momentarily, “Would… would it be too much to ask if you’d help us? Two of us have been afflicted and I fear we are going to be detrimental to the party and our mission. You would certainly be welcome!”
"I wouldn't mind the company along the way, however tou think you can control that spirit that your carrying along with you?"Kha glances over the dwarven women. "Pardon my skepticism, but you were dead not long ago."
(25 insight with guidance - In addition to her control over the revenant, trying to discern if there's another motive to her offering her services.)
She seems sincere and strong willed enough to contain the revenant spirit. You get the feeling she is not sure where she should go and wanted to tag along as a form of repayment for your help.
"In truth I am somewhere in between alive and dead. It was conditional for helping the revenant. Yes I am glad to accompany your party, but first I need to get my gear I stashed here all those years ago. I buried it outside of this cave" She stands and quickly opens the thick hide flap. Snow and wind drift in as she heads out. Seeing Trem's condition she closed the thick hide flap as soon as she is outside. She heads to the left and starts digging with her right hand.
With Roxaria's help a chest is revealed. Elowyn opens it revealing a longsword, shield and pack. She grabs her blade and ties it to her belt and as a habit reached out with her left hand for the shield. Roxaria sees a spectral ghostly arm sprout from her left shoulder. Its translucent and you can even see the bones. Elowyn also looked surprised by it "Well this new" She flexes her left arm and takes the shield. With a smile she shoulders her pack and then practiced some combat forms with sword and shield just to test her new arm "This is wonderful and useful. Lets get out of cold Roxaria" She then heads back inside. "Shall we rest for tonight or does everyone want to push on?"
Roxaria smiles gently at Lady Elowyn, “I’m so happy to see this!” She replies to Elowyn., pointing to the reformed hand and arm. “Yes, let us get back inside. It is too cold out here to just linger about.”
Roxaria returns, following Lady Elowyn. “Guys, that blizzard is still raging. I suggest we rest here tonight; however, and Trem especially, I fully respect and understand if you feel the need to urgently press on. Had that battle not sapped us, I would say we press, but I think we got battered pretty decently earlier.”
(I believe Trem is on vacation. Lets continue on with the long rest)
The party awakens to a crisp morning. The blizzard has past on, but it is still quite cold. As you finish your morning routines the party heads out again. Albeit a tad slower because of Trem's condition. Snow falls lightly throughout the day and soon the party reaches the region known as Thin Sheets at midday on the 5th day. You see ice sheets subtly moving. The ice seem thin in some spots while others are obscured by snow.
Roxaria looks at the sheets of ice before them. She digs out her pitons and 50 feet of rope out of her pack and ties one end around her waist, securing a sturdy knot. She hands the other end to Kha. “Hold on tight! I’ll mark a good path with the pitons as I step on the thick ice.”
With that she cautiously takes her first step onto the ice and will mark a good path by staking a piton in the middle of her footsteps every 5 feet.
Roxaria pulls her fur coat tighter around her neck. She watches the sun disappear below the horizon. The temperature dips and it makes her affliction that much worse. She wonders how Trem is handling this ordeal.
Roxaria realizes there is no good cover to make camp for the evening. If they set up tents here, they’ll still be exposed to the weather and with no brush around to make a fire, it’ll definitely get cold tonight.
”Reginald, you have any tricks up your sleeve to get a fire going if we set up camp?”
Roxaria keeps plodding along as the night grows long. She sidles up to Kha, “Copper for your thoughts? Trying to stay awake and keep moving so I don’t freeze to death. Do you think your clan will ever take you back?”
At Roxaria's question, the gnome giggles a little manically, then coughs. He responds with, "Yes, it is actually my specialty... If necessary I can keep a fire going without feul, with my bonfire cantrip. But it would require constant concentration. Best to collect what fuel we can as we come across as we go."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“I will keep my eyes open, Reginald. I wouldn’t want you to have bear the burden of maintaining such a long duration of concentration though if we cannot find anything. A possible idea is to connect the tent halves together to make one large tent. Hopefully, with everyone in the same large tent, the heat from all the bodies will keep us a little shielded from the cold.”
Roxaria looks around for anything that might sustain a fire.
(Everyone can take a short rest or a long rest if you intend to stay in the cave through the night. The blizzards is gone by late afternoon)
