"You told us that!" he snaps, then catches himself. "Sorry... I confess, I am quite confused. Undead are seldom spied traversing the mortal plane, yet we were just ambushed by four of them. Four! A mere mile outside of the civilized and well guarded town of Daggerford. Lady Morwen has issues with bandits - she would never tolerate these so close to her borders! And - " Aleppo continues, gesturing frantically to his surroundings "- what is this hostile wasteland? When we fell asleep, we were surrounded by hills and fields. Just what is Barovia?"
Hawker will wipe off the zombie bits from his blade. With the mist clearing he'll look upwards, looking for the moon. If we've arrived someplace new, is this what night would be? This is strange. he wonders. He'll let the rest of the group lead the way and he'll take the rearguard position.
"And what a lovely home it is, but if you don't mind me asking how much further do we have to go before we get to this Eva? Because I could use a bit of time to get my thoughts together."
"Ha! You say you are a mere mile outside of Daggerford. While for you, this may be true, for anyone else, this is their home, where their soles live eternally. There are no other towns, just Barovia."

"Well lead the way and we will follow." Ventus will walk alongside the wagons and keep and eye out for trouble. His hair swirls with the mist and at time looks like its actually part of the mist.
19 - Perception
Ventus does not notice anything and continues following the travelers.
When you look up in the sky, you don't see any moon, or any stars for that matter. You also notice that it isn't night or day, but the sky is covered by a misty grey, with dim light shining through.
"We will be reaching the gates of Barovia in about 5 hours."
Aleppo hovers beside Ventus, non-trusting of the wagon's structural integrity following the struggle. "So, traveler... you must be what they call a genasi?"

After hearing how long they have until they reach their destination Orun cracks open his spellbook and switches his seating position to a more meditative pose.

After doing so for about an hour Orun snaps back to attention turning towards the old man. “It feels a bit late for introductions but I have a question and referring to you as old man is getting old to me so may I have your name?”
"Just a humble bird who strayed far from the nest, if you'll excuse the metaphor..." Aleppo coos, eyes scouring the landscape ahead. "...I'd be fascinated to hear your story, skyborn!"

"Great! I'm trapped in forgotten cursed land with a bird, a rabbit and an Air Genasi! Brought here to help a cursed prince... by another probably cursed man. There's a joke in there somewhere", Lyger thinks to himself. Nevertheless, a smile appears on Lyger's face.
"This our home, it's Barovia."

Lyger doesn't trust any of this. During the ride he will take 10 minutes to ritual cast Detect Magic.

Lyger:
Looking at the caravan, you see the old man surrounded by a powerful magical aura.
-Archie
Lyger keeps that information to himself. Better to wait until they have privacy.

While on the way, Hawker will pay attention to the kinds of plant life, and if there's any animal tracks, hopefully not seeing anything... too big.

Do I learn its school of magic?
Player: Any Good Alignment // DM: Lawful Evil
There is no school of magic that you can detect. The being seems to have learned several of them.
