"My friends?" Sasha perks up a bit as Aaron decides to stay, pouring him some more wine. "Hm, let's see there's Gerty, she's a dwarven potato farmer, well was, I guess we're all adventurers now." She says and laughs softly. "Wait til you see her axe, you don't wan't to boss her around. Um, then there's Rik. She's our leader I guess, her family has an apple orchard and I think she might be a bit sweet on Gerty." She says with a wide smile. "Then there's Luke, he's a horse rancher and is really good with his whip. And last but not least Will, he's a cow farmer and a real prankster." She says and smiles again. "He's been butting head with Rik a bit but then he saved her life down in those tunnels, and he can really sing that boy." She says a bit dreamily. "And me, I just got this to play around with."She says, taking up a wand that was tucked into her belt, waving it a bit to make a small image of Gerty, Rik, Luke and Will appear in turn on the table. "Neat huh?"
William tries to casually mimic Arcturo as he tries to sit down where he thinks the chair should be. He accepts the drink, but doesn't drink from it yet.
As William goes to sit. Nicely padded chair appears under him and he sits comfortably down. The drink has a pleasant fruity scent mingled with strong rum accents.
Aaron watches as the figures materialize before his eyes, amazed. He stares for a moment too long, then replies, "Neat? Bloody impressive more like!" He smiles and looks to Sasha, then back to the image in disbelief. "They seem like decent folk, what's the headbutting about? Will not too keen on Rik as lead?"
Sasha blushes slightly as Aaron compliments her on her fey magic, her eyes fluttering a bit. "Thanks." She says quickly with a shy smile. "He thinks she's a bit to bossy I guess, but I think they are fine now after our adventure. I suppose it brought us all a bit closer."Sasha says and just smiles for a moment, taking another sip of her wine. "I really like them and I hope we'll stay together now, perhaps we'll go on to be one of those adventuring parties after taking care of business at the Festival of High Harvestide. Do you think you would join us if that would be the case Aaron, have you ever considered leaving Longsaddle to go on adventure?"
Aaron shrugs, “Not sure how I could leave to be honest. It’s just Ma and I to take care of the ranch. Sounds exciting, no doubt, but I can’t leave her alone. The animals are good company, but it’s a lot of work for one person.” He swills the wine in the glass before taking a more modest sip. “I’m all she’s got. Pa isn’t around much anymore - they’re separated. I still see him from time to time, but it’s brief. Says it’s for the best.”
Gerty joins the others as they take their place at the desk, taking everything in around her. As she admires the place, "Thank you for bringing us up here Mr. Harpell, you have quite the establishment."and she heartily enjoys the drink placed in front of her.
Sasha listens and gives Aaron a sympathetic smile. "Sorry to hear that Aaron. Must be hard for you. Do you want to talk about it?"She says softly after a while in an empathic tone.
He shakes his head, “Nah, it’s alright. Everyone has their hardships in life, but nows not the time with the festival around the corner. Another day, perhaps.” He offers her a reassuring smile. “I’m gunna have to get some food I think, or this wine is going to hit me harder than ah, than that steer did.” He then turns quickly to wave down the barkeep.
"Okay Aaron, just know you can come to me if you want to talk." Sasha says, briefly putting her hand on Aaron's. "Yes, food, good idea, I'm starving, adventuring does that to you." She says with a wide smile. "So, if you're still with us after being kicked in the face by a steer I suppose we could count on you to stand up if we run into trouble on our way north?" She says, giving Aaron an appraising look.
In doing so, Sasha would notice that Aaron's knuckles are rough and scabbed over.
He looks down at her hand on his, then looks up to her with sincere eyes and says, "You've been very kind to me Sasha, I appreciate that. If there's trouble, I'll do what I can. " He turns his hand over palm up and gives hers an affirmative squeeze, before pulling it away to grab and take a sip of his wine.
Arcturo studies the gem. Turns it over and over in his hand and then places it on the desk.
” I could perhaps give you 400g for this fine emerald. It has excellent color and surprisingly decent cut for this area. Also, I would like to give you a little extra for the fine deed you did this day, Mikels mother doesn’t have much to give.”
He hands you a small silk pouch with withe about 450 gp.
” if that is acceptable, let us drink to a deal sealed “
he raises his hand up with no glass and a spectral monkey arm appears from the void, handing him a drink similar to yours and then disappears again.
” To adventure, to bravery, and the Gods blessings on the inhabitants of Longsaddle!” As he raises his glass
Luke takes the silk pouch excitedly and drinks to the deal. "Thank you sir. If you happen to ever need our services, we could run some errands for you. We are quite capable now that we have that little rescue mission under our belt" Luke says eagerly
Gerty smiles and nods in agreeance to what Luke said, "here, here"she says as she raises her glass in mirror of Arcturo's. She can't believe their good luck! And she hopes they do reach out to her and her friends, they can do this!
Sasha blushes slightly as Aaron squeezes her hand, going uncharacteristically silent for a while, biting her lip while looking at him. "So, it seems you have done some punching too?"She says a bit tentatively after a while, indicating Aarons knuckles. "You know, we could really use someone who could throw a good punch once in a while."She says with a friendly smile
Sasha notices a dwarvin fellow enter the dining area looking very official. His uniform bares the symbol of the city of Mirabar. He talks briefly with the owner and sets about making an announcement.
” Please lend me your ears for a short, yet urgent message!” He speaks at such a high volume, that it is impossible to ignore. Maybe boosted by magic of some kind.
”by order of Selin Raurym, Marchion of the city of Mirabar, I wish to inform you of a dangerous criminal at large.”
The official pulls out a large scroll and begins to read from it.
”Let justice be done! The Marchion of Mirabar hereby offers 5,000 gold pieces for the capture of the brigand Worvil Forkbeard, known from Luskan to Mirabar as the Weevil. Last seen around the Mines of Mirabar, the Weevil is wanted for theft and murder. He is armed and dangerous. Deliver him to the Axe of Mirabar to receive payment.”
he shows the scroll to the crowd, on it is charcoal sketch of a dwarf with dark hair and a mad gaze. A terrifying looking image of pure hatred. After showing the image, he nails it to the main post and goes back to speak with the owner some more.
Aaron looks away, and goes silent for a moment. Realizing there is no way around it at this point he responds, "I.. Look, Sasha - I don't want you to get the wrong idea. I do what I have to do. I'm not proud of it, I don't go out of my way for it. Well, usually, anyways.." His hand curls into fists as memories bring him back.
"There has to be a good reason. I try to avoid it at all costs, you know? But there are just some things that set me off and I lose control. It seems like you have a good thing going for you and your companions, I wouldn't want to mess it up."He then finishes whatever wine is left in his glass.
