"To answer your question Bran, We opened the portal about an hour or so ago. It hasn't been that long.It should be open the whole time we are here and it will close in three days, at least that is how I understood it." Barrel looks to Flow, scratching his beard. "As for getting the Putris Corruptis, If the doppelganger could get it himself he would've by now. I think it is probably safe where it is now."
Barrel lowers his voice so only the group can hear him." I don't care what happens to this world. We are here for a quest under false pretenses and we need to see if our way home is secure. If it is and you guys decide to get the Putris Corruptis afterward I will go where you wish. If you want to stay here and help this world and its problems and forget about our own world, I will do that as well."
"The doppelganger is on our world, though. This whole thing probably affects more than just this area. I think taking care of this problem would be good for our world, too. As far as I know, doppelgangers are on the side of evil. Stopping the plan of an evil creature in our world can only be a good idea, I think."
"The thing is, this doppelganger wants us to get rid of the Putris Corruptis. If we go get it we are doing exactly what he wants us to do. If we want to thwart his plans we should leave it right where it is. "
"To answer your question Bran, We opened the portal about an hour or so ago. It hasn't been that long.It should be open the whole time we are here and it will close in three days, at least that is how I understood it."
"Ah yes, correct you are. I had forgotten that important detail!"
"That's the problem. If we bring it to...Q...the doppelganger, we've done his plan for him. If we leave it here, he can send someone else. After all, he tricked us pretty easily into looking for it for him, and we would have never known, if the real Jerub hadn't been here. Honestly, there's got to be people who the doppelganger wouldn't even need to trick. That's why I have a different idea."
Flow thumps his trident (point side up) against the floor for emphasis, smooth voice rising.
"We should find this orb, destroy it if we can, and find someone who can if we can't."

Barrel sighs take a deep breath and begins to smile. With a bow and a flourish of his cloak he nods.
"I'm with you Flow, but I still think we should go downstairs and check the portal first. Because if we are trapped here our plans will change. Hildi and Carrow went downstairs to check it out. Let's see what they found out and take it from there."
Barrel will wait for a response from either Flow or Bran and then he will walk downstairs to Hildi and Carrow.
"So what's the news on the Portal? Is it still working? Did you jump down the well yet?" Barrel asks as he strolls over to the well.
"Sounds like a deal! If it is alright, let me see if my companions will come, as well."
Sven agrees, by saying, "The more, the merrier!" with a look of glee. "As soon as I feel the cemetery calling me I will let you know. It should only be an hour or so now."
OOC: Sorry; I misremembered who had already gone down the stairs. I should have written that Hildi followed Carrow, not Bran.
Returning to the cellar, Hildi walks to the well and looks in.
Perception to see if the portal is still active: 10
Hildi can see the swirling black mass devoid of light and color, swirling at the bottom of the well like a living thing. You must have crawled right out if it without noticing.
Hildi looks up as Barrel approaches. "It appears to still be open," he says with a look of relief. "Shall we lower someone, or is visual confirmation sufficient?"
"Visual confirmation is good enough for me. As long as we can see it, I assume we can go through it. Let us help dear Sven with his problem so that we can go to work with him and get this business over with so I can get on with spreading my good name." Barrel looks around the room at his comrades. "What say you. Shall we get on with it and find this Putris Corruptis and destroy it so that we can bring peace and comfort to those in the Shadowfell?"
Barrel begins to play his drum, trying to liven up the mood of everyone.
Flow pokes around some boxes in the back corner of the room with his magically glowing trident. As Flow slides one pile of crates to the side, a hissing screech cuts through the room as two Shadows fly out from crack in the wall behind the boxes. The two Shadows swirl around Flow, launching a necrotic assault on the Genasi.

"Sounds good," Flow replies. He follows Barrel downstairs, after grabbing his still glowing trident.

Flow is right behind Barrel.
"It might not let us come back into the Shadowfell if we go through from this side," he says.
And that's all I have to say about that.
"That is my fear as well. It appears that the way back has not yet closed, but we should decide on a path forward before anyone jumps back through."
