Vera will share the information about the artifact with Hin, whispering the details as briefly as possible. "Such kind of artifacts are generally considered as legendary item, or at least a rare one. It's your choice to decide on the matter of sharing information with others, I don't want to compel you. But, I'm warning you that novice spellcasters like us may abuse its power." She will return the item to the shapechanger teammate, then keeps staring at them with a sly grin.
Hin takes the pen and gently puts it back in their pocket again. "A legendary item? What kind of power does this item have, exactly?" she whispers back. "It would help to know, so I can keep it safe. I know a little bit about the safekeeping of dangerous artifacts and information." She takes a second to pause, her eyes now glued to the floor with an empty expression plastered on her face. "Just a little, though. I trust you---and our companions---to not abuse its power." She pauses again. "Intentionally, at least." She is still looking at the ground, in an almost expressionless trance.

Barburry, as you ask that question the answer came to you instantly. Laurence and Vera also had the answer come to them immediately, with Hin being slightly distracted by the writing utensil Vera recently passed back to her with some new information. Transmutation magic is the magic people use to change the properties of something, including heating or freezing water. Conjuration magic, however, could be used to bring warn water here from somewhere else. Mythe, your family makes use to tubs that are capable of magically heating the water within. It's much safer than lighting a fire underneath, because it won't catch things around it on fire, plus you don't have to worry about the tub itself getting hot, or the fire going out and it going cold.

Since Vera gave you some information on it, you're welcome to check out the actual item. Rod of the Loreweaver
"It could be a cleansing place of sorts...? If it's conjuration, where could this water be coming from?" Laurence says, brushing back their hair out of habit as they think. After a moment of deliberation, they take out an empty waterskin hanging from their satchel and dips it into the water slowly, filling it half-full to see if that changes anything.
Laurence, you take your waterskin out, partially submerging it into the pool and pulling it back up. You now have a half full waterskin of warm water. The pool ripples where Laurence disturbed it, but ultimately returns to a still nature. The level of water in the pool doesn't seem to change, whether because half a waterskin doesn't take much water from it, or because of a different reason.
Laurence looks back and forth between the waterskin and the pond, waiting for the shoe to drop. A few moments later, when it's clear nothing's happening, they stand and dust themself off. "This does not appear to be dangerous, at least. Miss Donavera, Miss Hin, were you able to find out anything about that item?"
Upon hearing her name, Hin snaps out of the depressive trance she was in. "Excuse me? Oh, yes, this seems to be some sort of legendary item; one that puts down thoughts on paper quite well." She straightens her back sharply from it's previously slouched position, her eyes growing wide. "That's why it drew that picture, instead of the random scribbles I had intended. Anyways, it doubles as both as a quill and a wand, but I'm not entirely sure of the other properties it has. I'm sure Vera can go more in-depth, as she cast Identify in the first place." She crinkles her eyebrows uncertainly. "On another note," she continues, "I wonder where this water is coming from, and its significance to," she waves around the general area, gesticulating wildly, "All this."

"It's called the 'Rod of the Loreweaver' and it can be used as a spellcasting focus for historians and sages. Although it looks like a magic marker, a particular command word will unlock its full potential. I can feel overwhelming presence of arcane power stored inside it."
Vera explains the significance of the magic item; waving her hands, nodding her head to express the findings regarding the artifact. "Someone who's especially eager to learn about historical figures, events and places will find it useful. The rod can give quick access to high level spells. Perhaps, we should write down the list of spells as a reference since I tend forget some things occasionally."
She moves near the pool of water and kneels beside it to examine the source of water. "I wish I could summon Zodiac in the form of a frog or a trout capable of swimming. It would've been easier, I guess, to see what remains at the bottom of the pool."
"Since I won't be needing this anymore," Hin pulls out her old spellbook, "I'll use this to record important information. Could you tell me what spells the rod would give us access to?" On the first empty page she sees, she quickly jots down the words 'Loreweaver Rod Spells:' at the top of the page. She adds, "Since both Barburry and Laurence have touched the water, and nothing bad has happened yet, I believe it's safe to say that the water won't do us any harm. I'll quickly write the spells down, and then I'd love to go in and see what I can find. I used to love swimming when I was a child!" She's gotten back to her usual sunny disposition, and smiles brightly.

Vera shares the list of spells the rod is capable of casting and you write each of them down, Hin. Afterwards you all watch as Hin wades into the pool of water. The warm water is welcoming, however you feel yourself slip, or the ground below give out. All of you watch as Hin disappears. She's not under the water, she's just.. gone.

Mythe (who has now rejoined the group) stares at the water where Hin and Barburry have just disappeared, their bodies sinking through the ground as if it were not there. "...This can't be good."
Laurence's eyes widen as two of their classmates just straight up disappear into the pool, they rush to the side of the pool and look down. "No... this is not great." They kneel down beside the pool and tries to carefully and slowly reach into the water, as if that'd help them reach the two, "Um... Miss Hin, Mister Barburry?" I will not lose two classmates on my first day at the academy, how's that going to reflect our tower's reputation?
Laurence, as you call out to Hin and Barburry, there is no response. Similarly, you don't see them below the surface of the water, nor can you feel them. You have indeed lost two of your classmates on the first day.
