Titaani blasts the blob with a ball of crackling purple plasma, while Ben slashes at it with his little blade. Both hit. It's beginning to fall apart a bit, but there's still a lot of gloppy goo yet to disable.

The blob turns once again and surges at Ben. (Ben: make a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw or be engulfed.)

Matilda, Horatio, and Cad may act next.

Ben:

As the ooze lunges at him, Ben tries to dodge out of the way!

Dexterity Save:  2

Matilda redoubled her efforts to destroy the ooze, slashing wildly...

Attack: 11 Damage: 8

Ben is caught by surprise by the sudden shift in the movement of this amorphous thing. He takes 10 acid damage and is engulfed - he can't breathe, and is restrained. 

Matilda and Horatio both deliver damaging blows. The blob is in very bad shape.

Horatio may get an opportunity attack if he wishes.

Ben can try to escape by taking an action to make a DC 12 Strength check.

Ben:

Suddenly the world goes fuzzy and indistinct as a wave of pain nearly drives Ben to unconsciousness.  Instinctively he wrestles against the slimy mass around him and tries to escape!

Strength Check: 4 (‘+2 more if Athletics proficiency applies)

Ben is trapped inside the jelly, unable to breathe, looking dangerously close to losing consciousness in the acidic blob.

Horatio may get an opportunity attack if he wishes. (Did he act this turn yet?)

(( Horatio has not acted yet - yay for more punishment on that giant snotball! ))

Horatio swings twice more at the ooze! As he does, he exclaims, "This is disgusting, we should be getting paid in gold for this!"

As the ooze moves Horatio sees a chance to kick at it (opportunity attack)!

Horatio decimates what's left of the massive blob. It crumbles and quivers and finally goes still. Weak and gasping for air, Ben is released into the fetid pool. 

Combat has ended; everyone may act.

Matilda sits down on the lilypad...and breathes out loudly before lying down and closing her eyes...

Horatio:

Horatio runs over to Ben and pulls his head out of the water, lifting his body to the floor outside the pool. He will roll him on his side, then go back for Ben's things in the water. 

Ben:

Still conscious—if barely—Ben gratefully accepts Horatio’s help and moves out of the pool.  He finds a dry and somewhat cushioned place to rest using material from the cloth closet, then tries to recover some if he can.

(If we can get a short rest, he will spend both HD to recover Hp: 6  )

The pool slowly fills, nearly up to the rim, before the overflow valve curtails it from rising further. You have successfully unclogged the well, evidently. The water is becoming much fresher, even if large chunks of gelatinous cylinder continue to circulate lazily.

The house remains quiet. (Does everyone agree with Ben's short rest?)

Titaani limps out of the pool, making her way to where Ben is and collapsing next to him. She then grabs one of the pieces of material nearby and tries to wipe off the goo clinging to her clothes.

"That was...both gross and terrifying," she whines. "I hope we never bump into one of those things again."

Matilda is already resting...

All remains calm and quiet as the party takes a long breather (and a Short Rest.)

There are no signs or sounds of activity. The twilit foggy light outside the filthy windows never seems to change, making the passage of time difficult to calculate. It feels like time has stopped in this dreamlike world you have found yourselves in.

Ben:

Still severely hurt by the acidic ooze even after his rest, Ben calls upon healing magic to strengthen himself.

Cure Wounds:  3

(I'm going to use my hit die - 1d8: 6 )

The party concludes its short rest. (Does anyone else have hit dice to roll, or other Short Rest business to conclude?)

The cottage remains quiet, with the occasional footfall on the floor above. The pool is full; its water much cleaner. The overflowing well continues to steadily circulate more water down its sides and into the water.

Ben, Matilda, and Titaani continue to have the nagging feeling that the things they have lost are somewhere here in this strange land of Hither. (Cad and Horatio, for whatever curious reason, do not share this feeling.)

Rested, the party is ready to move on.

The pool is unclogged. You have evidently completed Bavlorna's chore. The lily pad and the mirror are both lifted by the risen water.

Bavlorna still had another chore she also wanted you to do: to pick up a package from the bullywugs and deliver it to her. 

"So...I guess we need to tell that creepy frog woman that we fixed her pool," Titaani eventually says, scratching behind Tiny's ears, the giant bunny having moved to her side while she rested. "I don't trust her, though. Maybe...maybe we should have one or two of us deliver the news, and the rest of us can explore the top floor - we may just find the things she stole from us!"
