Three stalls selling candy are situated in this clearing, lit by windows carved into the giant fallen tree to one side of it. Two goblins are working in each stall, and the whole enterprise is watched closely by a goblin with a toffee apple head who appears to be muttering quietly to himself.
"Well, hell-ooo!" croons a pair of goblins at the first stall. They sell candies of all sorts, but this one seems to specialize in black lollipops made from what looks like compacted ants. "Would you like a lollypop? One trinket per pop!"
There appear to be no other customers at the market today.

Ben:
Keeping his expression neutral, Ben moves into the market and watches everyone. He looks for anything useful in the stalls but stays otherwise quiet and observant. He is especially interested in heavy armor or longswords, though most of what he sees is candy.

"A trinket? What kind of trinket?" Titaani asks, digging around in her pockets, before drawing out her dagger, a simple weapon wrapped with leather and adorned with a clumsily made charm at the bottom. "I have this...does this count?"

One of the vendor goblins squints at Horatio and takes a drag from her pipe. "Tools? Smithing tools? Maybe. Whatcha got in trade, first?"
~~
Nearby, Chucklehead looks at Matlida with distaste. "Appointment, huh? Look, kid, I gotta brutal headache, so don't play around with me. You want to sign up? Lookin' for a contract? We can set you up. No need to talk to Ms. Nightshade. You definitely don't want to call her 'old lady'. ....But here's my recommendation," he rubs his toffee head in discomfort. "Get lost. Scram. You'll be better off in the woods. You don't really want to cut a deal with her."
~~
Meanwhile, Titaani negotiates with the first vendor. "Goodness, that looks sharp," says the goblin, wrinkling his brow at her dagger. "I like the thingy on the end, though. I can give you two lollipops for that. Sound okay?"
Ben looks around and finds neither swords nor armor. He sees a lot of jellied worms, however. And "centipede brittle", too, if the sign is accurate.

"Sounds great!" Titaani replies, a little surprised that the goblin is interested in her badly made charm - it was one of the first things she created with her jeweller's tools, and thus not very good. Handing it over, she takes the two lollypops and tries to see whether or not the ants in the lollypops are actual ants.

" I was told to come to you for an appointment, so I need an appointment. Can you do that?"
Titaani relinquishes her dagger and examines her new lollipops. They look like black sticky masses on a twig, with a few tiny legs or antennae sticking out.
(If Titaani would like to pop one in her mouth and give it a go, roll a d8...)

Chucklehead sighs at Matilda. "Fine." He takes on the tone of a bored bureaucrat. "What is the nature of your request?"
Horatio replies, "I own very little, but am skilled as a carpenter. Perhaps I could trade them for a service? Otherwise, I have a few daggers, these floofy court leathers, and this ticket to the Witchlight Carnival. Can we make a trade?"
Coming over as his name is called, Ben says, “We saw a picture of a boy on a poster—one who stole from Granny Nightshade. The payment for finding him was ten years of youth, but we’re not that old. We want to negotiate alternate payment and perhaps get some further intel on the criminal if we are to provide our services.”

The goblin's eyes light up at the mention of the ticket. "A Witchlight carnival ticket? If it's genuine, I can trade you for some high-quality smithing tools." She hands her pipe to her partner, as Horatio clearly now has her full attention.

Chucklehead gives a wince of a smile to Ben. "Ah, yes, her favorite topic. I'm sure I can arrange that meeting. One moment." He turns and scribbles a note onto a slip of paper and slides it through a slot in the wall behind him. "Why don't you go buy some candy while we wait."
Matilda looked at Titaani searchingly, " Not all of us."
" But it needs to be done so lets get to it."
Will and his crew depart silently into the brush to the west. The forest is dense and dark here.
Led by Matilda and Titaani, you begin to cross the gnarled bridge spanning the rocky, dried-up riverbed. It sways and creaks as you cross it.
"Oooh!" Titaani runs up to the merchant stalls excitedly. "What do you have for sale?"
(the red stall specifically, seeing as it's the closest)

Horatio looks about for blacksmith tools.
Matilda marches up to the weird headed goblin, " Chucklehead?"
Horatio looks around for tools. This seems to be a candy market, although you can see the goblins have other items in and behind their wagons.
Matilda approaches the toffee apple head goblin. "Yeah? What?" he responds.
Horatio asks one of the vendors, "Is there a smithy nearby? Who makes all of your tools and equipment? I need to get smithing tools."
" We need an appointment with the old lady."
