But she is disturbingly strong, and breaks the arcane manacles with ease. They dissolve into the air and fall away in a cloud of sparks and embers.

Horatio runs for cover behind a thick tree.

But Granny races overhead, swatting the leaves of it with her bony hands. "Waken, little tree!" she commands. With a deep groan of wood, the tree turns and tries to slam Horatio.

( One one hand....we are too low level to be fighting Hags....on the other...there were kids in danger...so it had to be done. ;) )

Matilda is sixty feet away with the kids, running deeper into the forest, well aware of Horatio's brave actions behind her.

Tears in her eyes and a pit in her stomach Matilda runs on.....

Matilda vanishes into the woods with the boys. As she moves forward, she gets glimpses of Granny on her rocking horse, flying over the treetops searching, but further and further away with each pass.

Safe for the moment, Matilda is now lost in the woods with the boys. Roll a Survival check to see if she can figure out which way Little Oak's Glade might be.

Before he loses consciousness, Horatio hears the tree unroot itself loudly from the ground, and then he feels himself being dragged roughly through the forest by his ankle.

Matilda's sense of direction here is strong. She soon stumbles across the path they took to Loomlurch, which she immediately recognizes. Before long, she leads the two boys back to Little Oak's glade, where the other children are all now assembled, together with Will and Elkhorn.

About this time, Titaani returns to her gnomish self.

As soon as Titaani returns to her form, she lets out a panicked yell and draws her boomerang, still thinking she is back fighting the hag. 

" Will! With me! We're going back now!"

" Titaani. Wrinkle-arse has Ben and Horatio. We need to go get them...."

"Skabatha has Ben and Horatio?" Titaani goes white, lowering her boomerang. "How...how did that happen?!"

Pud, out of breath and sweating profusely, huddles up with Brottor. He leans in towards his dwarven friend and says "Ben saved you...even when I couldn't. I ain't gonna abandon him. I owe it to him. Stay here, rest up. I'll be right back." Pud winks and playfully punches Brottor in the shoulder before turning and hobbling over to Matilda and Titaani. 

"Hey, I'm comin' with you. What's the plan?" Pud reaches back and pulls out a gnarled wooden shillelagh that shimmers with energy and purpose. He lightly taps a pearl earring on his left ear and says "Time to wake up Rizzo." With that, what was previously a tarnished old pearl earring has transformed into a part wooden part clockwork hummingbird the flitters and comes to life buzzing about the group. 

"Oooh! That's so cool!" Titaani says excitedly, only to realise she is getting distracted again. She shakes her blond head, desperately trying to wrench her attention away from the hummingbird. "Oops..um...what was I saying? Uh...oh! Where is Tiny? Guys, where's my familiar?"
