"Thanks Pud! I hope I can use it for good," Titaani replies, taking back the staff from Pud. Upon Matilda giving her the ring, Titaani looks rather conflicted. "Thankyou sis, but are you sure? Everyone has been giving me all this nice stuff, but what about you guys?"

Ben translates Horatio's question into Sylvan. "Assisted the Bitter End with her punishments? Just Vorth, who usually pulled the lever..." the darkling elder replies.
Meanwhile, Pud concludes his ritual and begins to examine the shelves full of books. There are hundreds of them, all of similar manufacture. Each one is 8 inches tall, 3 inches wide, and spineless, its black wooden covers and yellow pages held together with copper wire. The image of an hourglass is burned into the front cover of each book, and carved into the wood above it is a smaller symbol that resembles a chicken’s foot. There is a single book that looks out of place among the others. It is a hefty, green-covered tome with a withered frog stitched into its spine, which emits an undetermined arcane signature. There is also something mildly arcane on atop the highest shelf in the library.
Amidor the dandelion pokes his petalled head around the corner of the main, eastern doorway, Pollenella buzzing above him. "Hark!" he calls, brandishing his rapier. "Is it safe?"
Pud squints and scans the stacks. "Guys, there's something sorta magical up top." He whistles and sends Rizzo off to fetch it.
He then points to one book giving off a magical signature. "That one right there!" Pud points to the green-covered tome with a withered frog on the spine. Pud hobbles over to the book and looks at it closely. He taps it with his staff, trying to see if it's safe to grab.
He grabs the book in question and opens it at a safe glance from the group. IF nothing bad happens, he'll take it back to the group so we can look it over.
Pud taps, removes, and then begins to carefully examine the out-of-place book which emanates a slight arcane glow to his eyes. (Make a Perception check.)
Amidor glances at the darklings with concern, and then back to the party. "Is all well? Where is the foul hag? We have delivered the twins to the Beacons on that strange contraption. They assure me the Beacons will take them home somehow. The little oilcan is with them. What is happening here?"
"The books are arranged on the shelves in the order in which Endelyn has written them. They are chronological," offers one of the Darklings to Ben in Sylvan, ignoring Amidor. "What are you looking for? Is it true you have defeated the Bitter End? What will become of this place?"
Moving over to Amidor, Ben speaks with him away from the Darklings, but within the hearing of the rest of the party if they like, "Amidor, you have our thanks for caring for the sun and moon. Creeping Lyn is destroyed, fallen into her own Orrery of Tragedies--a quite aptly named device in her case. We are currently here in the library following up on some clues that might help us take down the rest of the coven and restore Prismeer's rightful ruler. Say, do you know how to get to Lamorna's pool? We have a delivery for her that should restore her mate from his current rocking horse state."
Speaking now to the darklings, Ben says, "We look for an invisible parchment. Bitter End has been defeated, going up in a cloud of oily smoke as she was electrocuted by her own Orrery. As for this place, I suggest you all allow each other the freedom to choose your own way, and those of you who remain make plays of your own choosing--happy, sad, melancholy, frenetic, anything you desire! But I caution you, should you decide instead to abuse the others here and we hear of it, we will return and discipline you quite harshly. On the contrary, should you find a way to restore those transformed into masks, we will be quite pleased."

Pud spots a thin, wax-stoppered vial tucked inside the spine of the book. It looks fragile, but also arcane through his still-active spell. (Make a DC10 Dexterity check to try to remove it.)
The other magical signature, high atop the highest shelf, is a mystery. It is not moving, and is relatively small, but Rizzo sees nothing other than the tops of a lot of books.
"Oh no, that poor frog," Titaani murmurs sadly, moving over to look at the book Pud is holding. As she watches Pud, she watches him try to take the vial out and panics. "Ah! That looks unstable!" She grabs one hand onto the vial and holds it alongside Pud, trying to help, while her other hand she holds underneath, to try and catch it if it falls.
Pud finds the vial stuck. Fortunately, it doesn't shatter, which it seems likely to if somebody were to carelessly open the book without noticing. It's unclear from its placement whether it was intended as a trap, or whether just somebody jammed the vial in the binding to hide it or just store it. (Pud may roll again, thanks to Titaani's help.)
"I know a multitude of paths in Yon!" replies Amidor to Ben. "I can lead you back to Hither, that foul toad's foreboding swamp, or I can guide you along a meandering route through these mountains of Yon to the foot of a bridge that arches across a misty expanse and ends at the front gate of the Palace of Heart’s Desire! ...But, alas, I know of no roads that lead to the magical forests of Thither, where Lamorna and Elidon once kept their legendary pool."
”If we can get to Little Oak’s Glen, we have friends there who can help us get to the Wayward Pool—and even one named Star who might wish to return to his mother at the Witchlight Carnival. I also feel that some part of myself is missing and remains in the swamp of Hither hidden somewhere in the hag’s tower. There are many places we might go, even including straight to the Palace by either your route or magically using transport hidden here, but we should carefully discuss amongst ourselves first,” responds Ben.

Once again, Pud fails, even with Titaani's help, to remove the thin, wax-stoppered vial, which seems to be filled with a grey dust. It's really stuck in there. The title of the book itself is in Elvish.
"The swamps of Hither I can deliver you to," responds Amidor, Pollenella circling his head in loud, buzzing loops. "Likewise can I bring you to the gates of the former palace of the benevolent archfey Zybilna of Prismeer, avatar of mercy for destitute mortals, inhabited now by gods-know-who. But a way to Thither and this pool, or to this Glen, or to the Carnival, sadly I know not. Although the twins were confident that they could reach the Carnival via those strange, massive beacons we just delivered them to."
Titaani throws up her hands in defeat. "It's no use," she laments. "Let's just leave it, before someone get's hurt."
She then wanders over to Ben and Amidor. "You know, I also feel like part of me is in Hither. Maybe we should go back. Especially since we were able to get from Hither to Thither last time, we could possibly retrace our steps to get to the unicorn's pool."

"Rats! I'm gonna keep this dumb book. I'll figure it out somehow."Pud stashes the book in his satchel. "I don't wanna be a thief, so I'll leave something as a trade."
He digs through his pockets and his satchel searching for something to leave in its place. He doesn't have much, but he does have his sling and bullets that he's had as long as he can remember. He used to practice hitting clay pots and glass bottles with his brother out by the creek. In his mind, this would be a fair trade. He walks over to the bookcase and tucks his offering amongst the books.
Pud looks back at the group. "Guys, there's something else magical up there on the top shelf. I can't see it from here and Rizzo couldn't see it either. Maybe it's invisible? I dunno.
Do any of you have any tricks to see invisible stuff?"
