”A balloon with a wicker basket below it fell about a mile away over there,” he says, pointing in that direction. “With as much fog as is down there, we will have a hard time getting a fix on it once we descend below the clouds, so I used my hammer as a directional marker from the base of the bridge,” he adds.
Ben climbs down also.

Ben's hammer lands with a splash in a mud puddle. A massive crane the size of a hippopotamus, hidden by the fog, emerges and takes flight. It flaps away on huge, muscular wings.
Ben, Cad, and – unless you have other plans, the rest of the party – descend the mushroom-studded pillar to join Matilda and Horatio in the foggy swamp.
Sticky mud squelches beneath your feet. Tangled mangroves grow out of pools of rippling water, half-hidden by the thick fog, and purple mushrooms cling to rotting logs and stumps scattered throughout the marsh. Crickets that glow like fireflies chirp serenely before they’re snatched out of the air by the tongues of hungry frogs.

Ben:
When he reaches the bottom, Ben tries to orient on his hammer as best he can to plot a course towards the balloon-rider in distress. On the way he picks up his hammer and glances back, making sure he continues in a more or less straight line away from the base of the bridge.
Survival: 18
“We may be in over our heads here friends, but let’s stick together and see if we can rescue what has been lost,” says Ben, trying to be hopeful.

"Sounds good. Oh, and if you don't mind me asking, what did you lose?" Titaani asks, having descended the wall on Tiny's back, his large leap to the ground causing her to not need the mushrooms. "I know I lost... umm..I lost...my concentration! And my ability to light non magical fires."
Saying it out loud saddens her somewhat, and her long, pointy gnomish ears droop, only to perk up as she takes in the world around her. "Say, did you guys see that crane? This place is incredible! And the crickets here glow as if they're magical...it kind of reminds me of the feywild."

"Aw, that's awful." Titaani gives Ben an empathetic smile. "Though I must admit, it's good to be back in the Feywild again. You never know what could happen in this place! In fact," she leans down to pet her mount, "I first met Tiny here."

Matilda turned and looked at the tiny woman, " Did you say fires won't light for you? Same for me.....after my brother....."
He leaps down the wall 2 mushroom steps at a time. His unnatural jumping ability not quite that of Tiny, but helpful none the less.
Interjecting on the conversation between Ben and Titaani, Edgardo chimes in with "Huh. So this is where my family comes from. Never been here myself, only told tales from old tails." The mention of tails causes his obsession to return. He starts spinning circles trying to catch a glimpse of that which was stolen from him. He even resorts to forward tumbling to try and catch it between his legs. After multiple spins he gives up with a shrug. Turning to Titaani "You seem to know about this place. Where to?"
"Hmmm..." Titaani hums, trying to recall what little knowledge she has of the Feywild from her first visit there in her childhood. "Perhaps we should see if there are any settlements around, might be a good place to start."
She turns to one of the crickets nearest to her, and attempts to communicate with it (with her wood gnome ability).
"Excuse me, little insect, but can you tell us whether you have seen any larger folk near this area? Or do you perhaps know of a settlement or house nearby?"

The cricket jumps excitedly, for there are larger folk approaching now...
Coming from one direction are several voices joined in a marching song.
With sticks and stones, we’ll break your nose; We’ll beat you blind and steal your clothes. But none among us can compare To one wily, swift, and stand-up hare— Scarf that’s glorious, thief notorious, His deeds are truly meritorious!
The singing grows louder as six bipedal rabbits wearing clothing emerge from the fog. Two of them tug at the reins of a giant snail, and the others carry clubs and slings.
With a wink and a grin, he’ll show his cunning; A flash of his scarf, he’ll take off running. Quick as a bolt, his long scarf trailing, Gasping, grasping, you’ll end up flailing. You’ll pout, you’ll moan, you’ll huff, you’ll sneer; Thanks to Agdon Longscarf, brigand prince of Prismeer!
Four of the harengon have their weapons drawn, and the other two browbeat their pack animal, a giant snail.
One of the brigands with weapons drawn signals the others to stop singing with a wave of her hand. "Greetings, travelers. My name is Jebbek." She bows to Matilda with a flourish. "This is a robbery. If you resist, we’ll beat you black and blue.”

Matilda laughed and pointed towards the rest of her companions, " A robbery? You've rather struck out there I'm afraid there is nothing in our pockets but crumbs, debt and disappointment."
She tried very hard to keep her expression at least partly serious despite the absurdity of the situation.

"I agree, this is all rather rude," Titaani places the cricket back on its leaf, and draws Tiny to a halt. She slides down off of him and draws her boomerang in her free hand, holding her torch a loft to see their faces better. "We've all already lost something here before, why take what little we have left?"
Her eyes harden a little as a thought occurs to her. "Actually, best you leave us alone or risk obtaining the wrath of the great archfey Titaania, queen of the Feywild, who happens to be an old friend of mine."

A bit unsettled by the surroundings, Horatio pulls chalk from his pack. As Ben indicates the direction they should travel, Horatio marks rocks or branches (anything above the water).
In response to Titaani's question. "I lost my reflection, and then started losing the people in my family. I'm cursed.. I think."
As the brigands jump out at them, Horatio cracks his neck, then his knuckles. "Never fought rabbits before... but if they rob people, chances are they work for the hag. Let's beat them senseless then make 'em talk!"
”Ah, this might explain much, if this Agdon Longscarf, brigand prince of Prismeer has usurped Zybilna’s rightful rule. Forsaking the Rule of Ownership in favor of theft makes this Adgon less of a prince of Prismeer and more of a knave of Bavlorna,” responds Ben.
Turning to the robbers, Ben says, “We wish an audience with Zybilna to discuss the Rule of Ownership that has been broken in our lives already. If you wish to break it further, you name yourselves outcasts and invite punishment as such!” he adds forcefully, drawing his own small hammer.

Cadwallader: Cad eyes this odd gnome and her giant rabbit with suspicion. Is she in league with Tumblestrum? But his attention is seized by the highwaymen. He’s about to try to cool the tempers on both sides when he hears the gnome drop Titania’s name. Even Cad knows who Titania, or at least knows of her reputation in the stories. He knows it’s a bad idea to claim a relationship with the Queen even in his own world; it’s a colossally bad idea here in her back yard! Which means this newcomer is either monumentally dim witted, or she really does know the Queen. Gods preserve us, what have we gotten ourselves into? He gawps at Ben’s brazen challenge, hoping these brigands admire bravado.
Jebbek laughs, although you can tell that Titaani and Ben have both made her uncomfortable.
"We have no interest in treasure. You can keep what's in your pockets," she tells Matilda. "What we demand is one memory, one old feeling: specifically, the feeling of delight you remember from when you were given the best gift you ever received." Jebbek produces a stoppered gourd sporting a golden knob. "Touch the knob, surrender the feeling from your memory, and you may have your freedom."
She holds out the gourd, waiting for the first person to touch it.
