She finds a filthy bedroom. A ball of light bobs above the rafters, casting shadows over the room, in which the owner’s messy habits are on full display. Rumpled and moldering rugs share floor space with food scraps, stacks of dirty dishes, and clay pots whose plants initially appear to have long since died, although Matilda remembers one of them giving her a key to the stocky wooden chest that sits in a corner between two closed doors. A bed occupies one corner of the room; it has a pile of straw in place of a mattress. In the opposite corner stands a squat chest of drawers with a watering can resting atop it.
Matilda remembers this place well. She stole the contents of the chest the last time she was here.
The rest of the party remains downstairs, conversing over Bavlorna's foul-smelling and fast-evaporating remains.

Ben:
With no one volunteering to decipher the writing (most likely because they don't speak Elvish), Ben pockets the potions for now and heads upstairs after Matilda. He looks around curiously at what seems to be the hag's bedroom, seeing if anything catches his eye there...

Ben joins Matilda in the bedroom and looks around. He spots the squat chest of drawers. One drawer was left open; it overflows with folded dresses and other garments, discolored from age and neglect. The doors to the east and south are closed. The padlocked chest has clawed iron feet and the initials B.B. crudely carved into its lid.
Matilda picks up the rusty watering can and finds it full of water. She waters the dead plants; they wriggle with appreciation.
Tilting his head curiously as the light descends, Ben holds his hand up welcomingly and tries to make out if anything resides within the descending glow, hidden by its brightness.
He asks Matilda, “How you found anything of use up here?”

Pud heads upstairs with Matilda and Ben. The weird floating light catches his attention as it drifts about. He watches Ben hold his hands up like a cradle, welcoming the light to land if it chooses to.
"Ben...is it just me or is it kinda drifting to you? Do you feel anything funny?"

He asks Matilda, “How you found anything of use up here?”
" I emptied out the chest before and I'm pretty sure there's something I need behind that door there..."
Titaani is distracted for a moment, casting mage hand and using it to poke curiously at the remains of Bavlorna. "I hope she doesn't come back..."
Tiny, leaving with Pud, telepathically calls Titaani to follow him. "Oh!" Realising she is all alone, the little gnome quickly dismisses the hand and follows the others upstairs. She looks up at the glowing ball curiously. "Wow...that thing is really pretty. Did one of you guys summon it? Or did it just appear? Very mysterious..."
Meanwhile, Tiny sniffs the plants, wondering if they're any good to eat.
The wispy, bobbing light does not approach any closer. There is something cold and sad about its light. It remains hovering over the party.
Downstairs, Titaani pokes around the goo that is all that remains of Bavlorna. She indeed finds something – a black skeleton key. Joining the others upstairs, Tiny finds the dead plants thoroughly unappetizing.
Titaani hadn't paid much attention to the key, hurriedly pocketing it in her rush to catch up with the others. Now that she is back with them, she takes it out to show to them. Meanwhile, Tiny sticks his nose up at the plants, no longer interested.
"I found this in the goo that used to be Bavlorna," Titaani informs her friends, holding up the key. "Any idea what it opens?"
”No idea,” responds Ben, “But let’s explore. Wasn’t there a secret door or something hidden at the top of the main stairwell we never got a chance to open last time?”

Titaani's key fits; the door opens. The musty room beyond looks like a miser’s attic. Lying in tall heaps are discarded blankets, quilts, cushions, and clothing of all shapes and sizes, not to mention musical instruments, toys, dolls, jewelry boxes, flower vases, child-sized caskets, and broken furniture.
Among the heaps of junk are a few oddities, including a stag’s skull hanging on one wall, a white porcelain jar with chicken legs standing on a table, a fancy helmet placed on the faceless head of a wooden mannequin, and a five-foot-long bronze statue of a giant frog squatting in a corner, its mouth agape and filled with impenetrable darkness.
“Didn’t we meet someone earlier who had a gourd for a head and was missing his stag’s head?” asks Ben, trying to remember, “ It was on a bridge with talking heads stuck on spears I think.”
Satisfied no one is in direct danger Matilda headed upstairs.

"Oh...yeah...that thing just followed me around before. I think its like a portable light or something...."
