Horatio:
Horatio approaches close enough to touch the thing, and looks a moment at the golden knob. "Magical, eh?" He muses. "Thing is... I really don't like bullies." He attacks.
(( In case this isn't a surprise and initiative is required = 15 - he is an unarmed two-weapon fighter and uses both fists ))
(I can't see your rolls yet. Try editing the end and see if you can kick the dice rollers into gear.)
We will need to roll initiative, and please also roll an Intimidation check.
In fact, it's going to be a group Intimidation check, so please everyone roll both Initiative and Intimidation. Titaani and Ben may roll Intimidation with advantage.

Cadwallader:
It occurs to Cad that the robbers haven't threatened their lives, only a sound beating. Only! But perhaps, if they look like they're more trouble than they're worth, the thieves will move along. Intimidation: 11 If, however, the toughs want to fight, Cad is not going to be taking any blows if he can avoid them. [Tooltip Not Found]: 21
"Stealing memories is even worse than stealing physical possessions. You would flout the Rule of Ownership so flagrantly? Perhaps you do need to be taught a lesson..." growls Ben.
Intimidation: 12

Success! (The DC was 13, so "at least half" of you succeeded.)
The harengon brigands seem to be cowed by the party’s resolve and are beginning to change their tune and retreat into the swamp.
However, Titaani, Bob, Matilda, and Horatio (who's throwing punches) have the jump on them. Is there anything they want to do first before the brigands retreat? (And does Horatio want to see through his unarmed attack?)
Horatio steps up to Jebbek, the brigand leader holding the gourd, and socks her square in the jaw. There's an audible crack as Horatio aptly demonstrates his prowess with his fists with a single blow. (His second blow ineffectively shears off her leather armor.) She staggers back, nearly knocked unconscious, but recovers. Somehow she manages to keep hold of her gourd.
All six herengon take off running, dashing back into the swamp. (Horatio may have an opportunity attack against Jebbek if he wishes.) They leave their giant snail mount behind.
Everyone may act (although Bob, Alyeira, Ben, Cad, Edgardo may act first if they want to give chase or employ ranged combat.)

Ben:
As the would-be robbers retreat, Ben carefully approaches the snail. He checks it for injuries or mistreatment, speaking soothing words to it as he does so.
Animal Handling: 18

Ben manages to calm the giant snail, whose mistreatment you witnessed. It is uninjured, but clearly used hard.
To use it as a mount or a beast of burden would require more work (in which Edgardo would have advantage due to his past experience) – but it is no longer a threat. Ben manages to get it happily munching a low shrub for now.

Matilda continued to stare expressionlessly at the harengon as they retreated....
Titaani is willing to let them go, but she glances at her companions to see what they would like to do.
(she will take the dodge action in case any of them do attack)
