With a pop, the well-aimed stone flies clear through a window, shattering the pane. After a moment, the front door swings open, and an elderly woman peers out. "What are you doing?" she calls out. "I think you broke my window!"
As the others veer off toward the house Cad has the urge to warn them to be careful, but knows it will be a waste of breath. Young people -- impulsive and so certain of their own immortality! He trails behind, hoping he'll be able to do something if the house turns out to be dangerous. IF? Of course it's dangerous! Everything in the Feywild is trying to ensorcell you, eat you, or possibly both! As the group stands looking at the house, deciding what to do, Cad watches in horror as Horatio hurls a rock through the window! "What are you doing?!" he gasps as the rock shatters the window. Honestly, a giant monster that looks like a house is probably the least bad outcome! "If that is the hag's house, you've just let her know we're here, and if it's not you just broke the window of someone powerful enough to own a walking house!"
When the old woman appears and Horatio blurts out the name Bavlorna, Cad begins edging away from him. Madman or halfwit? he wonders. "Tell no lies" indeed! How would he know, and what can he do if she does? He clutches the leather strap of his bag, with its arcane tooling, and mutters quietly under his breath, hoping he has figured out the mage armor spell correctly.
"Bavlorna?" cries the old woman, then pauses for a long moment. "You think I'm Slack-jawed Lorna? You have the wrong old crone, my dear! This is the Inn at the End of the Road." She spits, muttering "Bavlorna" again with a sour look. "I have beds, meals, and plum pie. If you're looking for Bavlorna, you'll need to look elsewhere. But I wish you hadn't broken my window. You think you could repair that?"

Matilda wonders how adults get anything done at all if they all stand around with their thumbs up their butts all the time and randomly commit acts of vandalism.
She grins at the little gnome beside her, " Race you in?"
With a 16, Ben detects nothing dishonest from this woman. The name "Bavlorna" is one she clearly holds in contempt, and the elderly woman seems a little insulted you mistook her for the hag you seek. She's also rather irritated that someone broke her window.
Matilda races inside, and finds a small but tidy inn. It's surprisingly ordinary, if rather old-fashioned and frilly in its decor. She finds nobody else within, at least on this floor.

Cadwallader:
When the woman doesn't look like she's about to shoot lightning or summon a plague of locusts on them, and the girl isn't immediately eaten as she rushes inside, Cad steps forward. "Good day, ma'am. I apologize for the rude introduction. My young companion here has had something very precious taken from him by this Bavlorna, and is understandably upset. I can't do anything for your window, but I'd like to make it up to you. I'm a leatherworker by trade -- retired now, of course, but still have the skills if you've a use for them." He continues walking forward as he speaks, looking for any sign she's more upset than she's letting on. She only seems a bit peeved, and he knows he'd have been a lot angrier about strangers throwing rocks through his shop window. Insight6

Titaani laughs, chasing after Matilda. Once inside, she inspects the inside of the house with endless curiosity. She is so distracted she barely realises that one of her companions broke the window of the inn.
"Ooooh you can sew?" She asks Matilda, and notices the broken window. "Yikes. I know how to work with jewellery and that kind of thing. Not sure what I can do about that, though."

Horatio's feeble rock throw brings more of a laugh to Edgardo than the vagrant act should have, to the point he cheers when the pane shatters. His friends seem to file into the house one by one even after the attack. The woman sounded harmless enough and the smell...oh the smell. A hot meal is something Edgardo didn't realise he'd missed so dearly, then the promise of plum pie. It was all too much for the little rabbit folk, he bolts inside with a few skips and hops.
The old woman, who introduces herself as Tsu, happily puts the party to work – Cad patching the upholstery of her sofa, Ben examining a bowing wall, Matilda repairing a torn curtain, Matilda resetting a loose stone in an oversized brooch. Tsu serves hot stew and slices of delicious plum pie to her guests.
She mutters, “In Zybilna’s time, this inn was the talk of Prismeer.” Zybilna was, until recently, Prismeer’s archfey ruler, she explains. She speaks about Zybilna reverently, though her tone remains morose. Tsu explains that the domain of Prismeer has been divided into splinter-realms by the three hags of the "Hourglass Coven". Bavlorna Blightstraw, also known as Slack-jawed Lorna, transformed her portion into this swamp, now known as Hither. Tsu clearly despises Bavlorna. When Prismeer was whole, the inn could travel anywhere in Zybilna’s domain. Now that Prismeer is splintered, the inn can’t leave Hither. Tsu has been running the Inn at the End of the Road by herself since before the Hourglass Coven seized control of Prismeer. She has heard rumors that Zybilna is trapped in her palace. Tsu admits that she would love to see Zybilna restored to power, if only so she can escape the swampy morass of Hither.
You realize that while you've been listening and working, the building has lifted itself up and has begun to walk again. The structure rocks and heaves while in motion, but evidently these movements cannot be perceived from inside the inn.
Cad glances out a window and immediately wishes he hadn't. The inn feels perfectly still, but the landscape outside seems to rock and sway. The difference gives him an odd dizzy sensation, and he immediately feels queasy. He quickly turns away. "Is your inn going somewhere in particular, or do you travel a circuit?" It occurs to Cad that, there being no road to speak of, the name of the inn is a tad ominous. 'End of the Road' could be more metaphorical than descriptive. "If you don't have a pressing need to be somewhere, could your inn perhaps head back the way we came? You see, we saw a balloon fall from the sky into the swamp and were hoping to check for survivors; that was where we were headed before your inn came along." 'Before your inn came along?' This place will set you topsy-turvy if you let it!
“Indeed,” adds Ben, “Please take us back to the path we were on, Madame Tsu. Perhaps once we have dealt with the potential rescue of the balloon rider we can discuss freeing the rightful ruler of this realm.
"Oh... shit. I'm sorry... I thought you were her... shit."
He approaches like a kid in trouble.
"I'm a carpenter by trade, and have my tools with me. I won't be able to replace the glass but can piece in and properly secure some wood... Would that do?"
Tsu shrugs apologetically. "I'm afraid the inn follows its own course through the swamp. It's rather unpredictable. You can get off at the next stop, if you like. It stops about every mile or so. In fact..." she peers out the window. The building is lowering itself now.
The water is higher here, possibly due to a wide, overflowing well – gushing, really – not far from the inn's current position. The well is ringed by hewn stone, and is about 10 feet in diameter. The water is maybe a foot or two deep here, flooding the swampy terrain in all directions.
"No apologies needed," Tsu responds to Horatio. "Maybe you can find Zybilna for me? Find out what's going on?" She offers him a second piece of plum pie.
”So, how do we find the downed balloon, or Zybilna’s palace for that matter?” asks Ben, “And is this well here one of the reasons this area is a swamp?”

Cad shrugs at Ben. "Someone good at tracking could follow the inn's trail back to where we entered?" Cad leans in close and says very quietly, "We're going to need a safe place to rest. This inn is probably safer than the swamp, unless Tsu herself is a danger. Do you think we can trust her? She seems pretty straight-forward to me, but I don't know what dangerous looks like in this place."
