Ben detects nothing with his divine senses. The room is quiet; the steaming pool is opaque with dirt. The sight reminds him a little of Bavlorna's filthy pool, except this one lacks the foul, moldy smell. It looks more like clean, natural dirt clouding the pool.
Titaani peeks carefully through the smashed doorway to the east. She sees a ruined stateroom of some sort. It is unoccupied. The furnishings within are completely destroyed; nothing of interest or value appears to remain in that room. A doorway leading further east is similarly smashed.
As Titaani wanders through the ruined stateroom to open the door for Matilda, Ben looks for tracks near the open wall. Outside he sees a sheer drop, hundreds if not thousands of feet down into the mist. There is plenty of debris here, but no clear tracks.
By the time Ben joins Titaani, Titaani has spotted something. Through the ruined doorway east, within a grand ballroom, stands a royal courtier, frozen motionless, its gaze fixed on a black iron cauldron atop a dais. A huge, dragon-like monster is coiled around it. The dragon’s body twitches slightly, and its closed eyelids flutter as it dreams.
As Titaani indicates, Matilda suddenly becomes very, very quiet....indicating they should all come through the southern door to join her as quickly as possible.
The jabberwock sleeps on, unperturbed by the party's movement next door. (The royal courtiers in the ballroom, on the other hand, seem to be time-frozen. But you haven't gotten a full look into the room yet. A glance was enough...)
The party gathers around Matilda in the hallway. Only Ben is in a position where he can dare another glance. The ballroom appears to be full of time-frozen figures. Nothing moves there except a few dark vapors rising from the cauldron, and the slightly twitching body of the sleeping Jabberwock.
”I would rather avoid it if possible. I think the unicorn’s magic is still with us. Let us try and sneak by, saving our combat cabalility for the league of malevolence. We don’t want to start time back with the cauldron yet until we deal with the evil mage or he might get his powerful staff back before we can take him out,” suggests Ben, creeping forward slowly to the threshold of the room to see what is available.

Ben, Matilda, and Titaani begin to quietly lead the party into the ballroom with the sleeping dragon. (Anyone who wishes to join them may add +10 to a Stealth roll due to Pass Without Trace.)
The grand ballroom lies before you, the northern part of its floor littered with the splintered remains of three doors that have been knocked from their hinges, leaving openings through which you can see adjoining rooms. Throughout the ballroom, many royal courtiers stand motionless, their eyes fixed on a black iron cauldron atop a dais in the middle of the chamber. Dark vapors rise from the cauldron, and the huge jabberwock is coiled around it, still sound asleep.
Two other figures are frozen, statue-like, off to one side of the cauldron: an imperious, middle-aged woman with long white hair and white robes, and a younger woman clad in armor and wearing a white cape. The older woman is reaching desperately toward the cauldron, while the armored woman at her side is grasping a fine-looking quarterstaff.
Titaani begins to move north, only to get distracted by the quarterstaff the woman is holding. She sneakily moves to steal it out of her hands without the dragon noticing.
Horatio will point to the woman in white trying to reach the cauldron, then point to the cauldron, which is still bubbling. He mouths the word 'why?' to the others silently.

Detecting nothing in the steam, Ben goes over to where the breach in the outer wall is and looks for tracks.
Survival: 10
He then moves over to join Titaani.

Titaani gasps, backing into Ben as she raises a shaking finger. "Look!" she whisper shouts. "It's the Jabberwocky!"
As Titaani indicates, Matilda suddenly becomes very, very quiet....indicating they should all come through the southern door to join her as quickly as possible.
Horatio pulls out a javelin and stalks towards Titaani in reply, ready for a fight.

Titaani hides behind her sister. "What are we going to do?"

"We can kill that thing." Horatio whispers to the others. "But if it was the queen's pet, can it help us?"

Matilda, despite her earlier bravado, decided she very much did not want to fight that....

"Ok," Titaani whispers, creeping forward with Tiny. "Let's hope it doesn't wake up!"

Ben:
When the others are ready to advance, Ben does so as well, moving slowly to try and keep his armor from making too much noise.

Having been already fooled once by “frozen” foes, Ben looks closely at the figures supposedly frozen in time to see if any of them are faking it.
