"Indeed, Horatio," says Ben, "We may well run across beings who have recently had their memories restored. Right now, though, I am concerned that the key we need may have been stolen from the goblin and be in the hands of these brigands the trees speak of."
Ben moves along, trying to recall if the memory thieves they had run across were in possession of a coat of keys...

Bob chastised himself for hiding when the battle with the snakes had commenced. He had been so afeared that his first action was to hide face down under his satchel. What would Primrose have thought? his mind whirled. He had been charged with the care of these Carnival-goers and, at the first sign of trouble, he had hidden. In truth, it had all been a bit too much for the small kenku, he was unused to violence and found himself completely out of his depth.
Trying to hide the tears forming under his eyes, he silently followed the party as it strode after the willow tree. Perhaps, he thought, I might be able to redeem myself once we meet with this Jingle Jangle lady, perhaps I might even find a kindred spirit -- as he too was quite skilled at crafting all manner of locks and keys. "Jingle Jangle's den?" he squeaks, his confidence at an all-time low, "looks like we're at the right... y'know...place."
”Bob, there you are…Do you have any skill with healing? Cadwallader seems To be headed towards some kind of delirium that triggered when we got to this hill,” Ben says, looking concernedly at his friend.

"I'm fine!" Cad grouches at Bob and Ben, a bit of his usual saltiness returned. "I don't need healing. Well, I do, but only the normal kind, for the bite wound. My head's fine, just a little overcome by the muchiness of this place. You don't feel it?"
He follows to the opening of the "den," not entirely comfortable about what might name their home thus. He wonders aloud, to no one in particular, "If this hill travels, like the inn, how did the dragon know which way to go? It would have moved from where it had been when the balloon crashed yesterday." He recalls stories about the Feywild -- who knows how reliable any of them are -- in which directions are arbitrary. No north or south, distances that seemed to change each time someone traveled. Maybe the creatures of this realm just know where they're going?
"Ah!" replies Sir Talavar to Cad from within the cage in Ben's hand. "I do possess a good sense of direction, if I do say so myself. And this hill moves quite slowly. Unless it moves quickly, of course, in which case it can be fairly speedy. I am very grateful for your help. Shall we approach?"
But Matilda is already at the keyhole-shaped entrance. Within, she finds worn stone steps lead down into what looks and feels like a cellar. There's a chilly draft coming from inside, and Matilda smells the subtle scent of iron in the air.
"Ah, the exuberance of youth," says Ben, smiling, though he is not much older himself. "Let's go after her before she gets herself into trouble," he adds, moving up that way.

"Oh, how old are you?" Titaani asks, following Ben. "I don't actually know all that much about you guys. Do you like carnivals? What about the Feywild? Do you know magic? How about sword fighting?"
Tiny nudges Titaani, and she stops, realising that she's pestering the stone mason. "Oh, sorry, um, I get that this might not be the right time."

As they walk, Ben says, "I am 24 years old, and your questions are quite valid--we should know each other's abilities in this dangerous land. I am a stonemason, but I know my way around weapons and armor, since I was once interested in becoming an adventurer...I suppose that ended about 8 years ago when I went to the carnival the last time."
Ben's brow furrows as if he is revisiting a painful memory, but he moves on quickly, "Of course I left all that equipment at home before coming to the carnival for the evening, so it doesn't help me much now. And I suppose I like carnivals fine--exciting and showy on the surface, but sometimes hiding danger just below--much like this Feywild we find ourselves in now."

Matilda's eyes adjust, and she is able to see better down the short set of stairs into the room below.
From a distant spot within the cellar-like chamber, sputtering candles illuminate a multitude of keys dangling from taut strings that crisscross the walls. Hundreds of other keys lie strewn across the dirt floor. As she takes in the scene, Matilda hears the sound of keys jingling as a goblin emerges from the dimness. She wears a coat lined with metal keys and carries a flail that has padlocks for heads. She manages a faint smile and says, “Hello? Yes? How might Jingle Jangle unlock a bit of happiness in your lives today?”
"Keys! Jingle Jangle has keys! Shiny and clean! What kind of key do you need?"
The oval-shaped den is about 20 feet wide, 30 feet long, and about 6 feet tall, with a small door at the back. The taller members of the party have to duck a little to avoid scraping their heads.
The huge willows remain outside, perhaps twenty feet from the entrance. Many more stand further downhill.
Who is entering the den, and who is remaining outside?
Remembering how well his attempt to guard the exit went last time, Cad decides he'd better follow this time. He expects some terrible beast, but Jingle Jangle turns out to be a friendly goblin. The flail is a little off-putting, but then Cad supposes one has to be a bit guarded when strangers come calling in this place.

Ben:
Lowering the cage so it doesn't bump against the ceiling, Ben enters the small cavern as well. He is astounded by the vast array of keys present, and sets the cage down in within the friendly goblin's view. "We have a friend who has been unjustly imprisoned, and a key would be just the thing for his magical cage," says Ben, trying to get a sense for this new creature.

"A key!" shouts the goblin. Ben hears nothing but genuine kindness in her voice; but then, he's never spoken with goblins before. "Yes – Jingle Jangle has keys!" She examines the lock closely and then tries one from her coat. "Better you should have it than those long-eared brigands. First they stole Jingle Jangle’s truffles. Next, they’ll want Jingle Jangle’s keys. Someone ought to give them a good shaking down so they know what it feels like!" she grumbles.
"My hero!" booms Sir Talavar from his cage. "Bavlorna trapped me in this bewitched birdcage. But I must get back to my Queen forthwith! Your services are deeply appreciated."
"Jingle Jangle, too, has made poor bargains with Bavlorna," replies Jingle Jangle, "but these brigands are equally black of heart." The goblin squints at the lock again and tries another key.
"Rule of Reciprocity..." whispers Sir Talavar to Ben. "Might you have something special to offer for the key?"
<Pop> The cage door swings open. Jingle Jangle shrieks with delight.
“These brigands we came across, I do not recall if they had any truffles on them, but we did find an item that had stolen many memories. We, of course, released those memories to their rightful owners,” says Ben.
Whispering back to Sir Talavar, Ben replies, “What better match to a key than the item it locks? Now that you are out, is there any reason we shouldn’t let Jingle Jangle have both key and cage?”

Titaani follows Ben inside, and lets out a delighted gasp as the key unlocks the cage.
"Well done Jingle Jangle!" she says, giving the goblin a grateful hug. "I promise that we will deal with Bavlorna just like we dealt with the brigands. No one will take your keys when we're around!"

At the top of the hill, you can see that the thin trail leads to a cave with an entryway shaped like a keyhole.
"Jingle Jangle’s den," announces your willow guide, waving you along with its branches.
Bob chastised himself for hiding when the battle with the snakes had commenced. He had been so afeared that his first action was to hide face down under his satchel.
