Halfway through a thimbleberry tart, Dimple hears the invitation to ride Biscuit’s wheel and joins in on the next round, as it sounds quite fun. Exploring the palace and chatting with the pixies is a surreal experience, but a pleasant one. Still bewitched by the floating seed, Dimple finds many things amusing this night that he would have ‘harrumphed’ about any other time.

Cotton Candy (Bob) nods knowingly at Honeymint. "Carnival in constant motion. Unpredictable. Excitin'," he says in awe. The tiny kenku had always been drawn to the wonder and excitement of the Carnival, something that had not lost its lustre over the years, ever since he was but a hatchling. 'Odd. Changing. Like Bob,' he thought happily to himself.
"Forsooth and verily,"Bob declares, "I must say that I have no recollection of any other kenku working at the Carnival." Rooting around his satchel he finds a small, preserved, red flower and pins it to his shirt - if it is, as they say, a pretty young damsel, here at the Carnival? One must make the effort. "Oh boy!"Bob says, blushing. He clears his throat and chooses to totter off after Dimple (Ben). I must not disregard the task I was given. Besides, this gentleman seems affable enough.
"One ticket punch? Worth it five times over!" He gestures back to the pixies with a big thumbs up and a bull riding charade of his own. He makes his way through the bustling crowd towards the snails. He waits for the pixies to point him in the direction of his mount, hoping that number 6 is available.
Edgardo: #6 already saddled with a rider, Edgardo is assigned Snail #2 – "Nimblefoot", decked in blue. He is guided into the saddle by a trio of blue-garbed pixies, who explain the rules of the race to their new recruit.
Racing Rules: The race is divided into 6-second rounds. Once the race begins, the snails move along the track at remarkable speed, each one covering 80 feet per round by itself. Without riders, the snails are an even match, but a jockey can try to improve a snail’s performance by patting its shell or speaking words of encouragement at it. Initiative rolls are unnecessary. Once per round, each jockey can make a DC 12 Wisdom (Animal Handling) check. On a successful check, the jockey’s snail moves an extra 10 feet that round, or 20 feet if the check succeeds by 5 or more. On a failed check, the jockey’s snail moves 10 feet slower that round, or 20 feet slower if the check fails by 5 or more. The race ends when one or more snails travel the 480 feet needed to cross the finish line.
Fireworks signal the start of the race. (When you're ready, roll your first Animal Handling check!)
Pixie Kingdom: The chatter, snacks, and sights in the Pixie's home are quite pleasant, but begin to wear a little thin. Perhaps sensing this, a young pixie who introduced themself as "Starbug" announces, "Anyone fancy a game of hide-and-seek?"
Cad finishes his tour of the Chrysaline Palace and heads back toward the others. A booming firework lights the sky and he hears the distant cheering of a crowd. Wonder what that's all about? He starts in that direction when he hears Starbug suggest Hide and Seek. "I haven't played that since I was a boy! Yes, let's have a game!"
”I’ll be the first seeker!” volunteers Dimple, waiting for the others to be ready before he prepares to hide his eyes and count, “Is 50 enough of a head start?”

...Edgardo has an excellent start, quickly outpacing all but #1 and #3, who are just ahead of him. The massive snails move incredibly quickly, leaving a trail of shiny slime behind.
Round 2: (6, 2)
... but in a stroke of bad luck, a spectator throws a head of lettuce onto the track, just ahead of Edgardo. Nimblefoot comes to a complete stop to eat the lettuce. It takes a moment to coax his huge steed onward; the others race past him.
"No, no!" admonishes Honeymint. "Starbug is always the seeker." They explain the rules:
Each character playing hide-and-seek will make a Wisdom (Stealth) check to hide. Starbug will eventually find the character who has the lowest check result, at which point all the remaining characters move to new hiding places and make another check. The game continues until only one character remains hidden; this character is declared the winner. You can hide anywhere in the Pixie Kingdom, but Honeymint points out the following, particularly good, hiding spots: • Biscuit’s Wheel. (This wooden wheel has eight wicker carriages.) • Flower Bed. • Heron’s Nest (a clump of long grasses) ...but unfortunately, you may need to shush the creatures who reside there.
"Who's ready to hide?" asks Starbug. "I'll count to 24."

Round 3: (4, 2)
Round 3 begins with Edgardo far behind the others, due to the cabbage incident. Worse, Nimblefoot now develops a stitch, hobbling its speed. This is looking to be a disaster for Edgardo's snail racing career. (Edgardo may make a new Animal Handling check. -40 feet this round due to stitch.)

Edgardo
"Yeehaw!" He squeals with excitement as Nimblefoot pulls out in front. He just gets passed by two other snails as a head of lettuce flies over the guardrail and lands 5ft to his left. His mount, apparently starving, darts for the leafy green snack. One, two, three in fact all the other snails pass him by leaving his ears flapping in the jetstream from the speedy garden gastropods.
Pulling as hard as he can on the reigns, Edgardo tries to get Nimblefoot to leave the last of the lettuce but fails. "C'mon you giant slug with a house!" He strains as he pulls back even harder on the reigns but then remembers the tips the pixies gave him. "You know, there's endive and kale at the finish line. Not just this plain old lettuce. What do you say we get there first so you can have pick of the bunch?" He all but sings the words to Nimblefoot, hoping to entice the snail away from its current snack.
Brightmite (Matilda), Cobweb (Alyeira) and Dimple (Ben) find themselves face-to-face with several talking wildflowers. They seem quite conceited, and bicker over which of them has the silkiest petals and the finest aroma. You may attempt a strategy to shush them, in which case you should also roll a Charisma (Persuasion) check; otherwise you may be at disadvantage. Brightmite (Matilda) should also roll a Stealth check. And each of you should make a second stealth roll - we'll see if it's for advantage or disadvantage afterward... "Have you ever seen petals like these?" one asks Brightmite loudly.
Jellybean Starfish (Cad) finds a corner of the palace to hide in. Unfortunately, the furniture doesn't cover him particularly well. But it's too late to change locations now...
Cotton Candy (Bob) finds himself standing with a heron near her nest. "Hello, I'm Beatrice!" she pipes brightly. "Have you seen the cumulonimbus clouds approaching on the eastern horizon?" She roosts in a clump of long grasses and has a nest nearby that looks like it might make an excellent hiding place. Make a Charisma (Persuasion) check to try to quiet her and perhaps get permission to hide in her nest. And make a second stealth roll - we'll see if it's for advantage or disadvantage afterward...
Panache (Horatio) finds little out of place to his eye. The pixies and their friends keep everything quite neat and orderly, and there doesn't seem to be anything obviously hidden here.
Toadhop (Colin) keeps an eye on everyone. He hears the enthusiastic roar of the crowd at the snail races across the way, followed by a smattering of laughter at some unfortunate racer's antics.
