Bran's request to give up the girl is met by a clacking laugh.

The mention of fire however silences this.

“Well, we will burn our way in, unless you yield the girl,” Zera says.   “I suppose we could take a rest, but I’d prefer to keep moving”.  She slices at the webs with the new mystery longsword, to see what happens.    A longsword isn’t usually her weapon of choice- far too heavy for her style of swordplay. 

Vinny closely follows Zera to be her shield lackey. He keeps his shield high and ready to interpose. With the other hand he swings his sling, looking for ranged targets.

((It looks like some of you have leveled up and some have not... I mentioned that could be done at the next long rest... we could retcon a long rest in the hall prior to attempting the middle room again - thoughts?))

So the team attempted a long rest in the hall again. The amber mist descended once again. ((Assuming similar watches from last time.)) This time, however, the sleep was uninterrupted. No mysterious bites or events troubled those within the protective mist. All awake refreshed ((and now level 4 - please update your characters before we proceed to attempt the second room again - you may want those HP increases MOOOOHAHAHAHAHA)).

Bran awakens from the rest refreshed and feeling an increased awareness of his inner potential.  He stows his quarterstaff along his backpack and readies his longbow, backing up Veil and Vinny at the doorway to the spider room. He nods to the others, showing he is ready. “Let’s find the way out of this place”

Veil takes a moment to cast a new spell... Gift of Alacrity as she gets going in the morning. She then moves to one side of the door, fire licking around her hand as she readies a blast of flame. She gives a nod that she is ready.

"Ah. Tha' feels good. Haven't felt so rested 'n ages"

recap - middle door, re-open, lots of webs, Zera and Vinny enter - insinuations of hunger and malice from creepy voices inside - threats of fire from outside.

Zera and Vinny are so caught up looking at the sheets of webbing in front of them, it is too late before they notice movement ABOVE!

A wave of sleepiness passes over both of them 19 starting closer to Vinny.

Then Zera feels a web being spun about her:

Attack: 25 If Hit: Zera is restrained by webbing. As an action, she can make a Strength check on her turn to try to escape from web.

Lastly, Zera sees a spectral hand pass by her, reach out and slam the door shut, trapping the two of them alone, in the dark.

In the direction the hand came from comes some more movement and a caustic dust emits towards Zera.

Zera is hit and trapped in the webs, and rolled a 13 in the lot for con save.

Vinny rages with his bonus action, moves and recklessly attacks Aranea B with his warhammer. On hit, it activates his Ancestral Protectors.

While raging, the first creature you hit with an attack on your turn has disadvantage on any attack that isn't against you, and when the target hits a creature other than you, that creature has resistance to the damage dealt by the attack.

Attack: 25 Damage: 9

On hit: plus 2 damage due to rage.

Veil moves in through the reopened door and puts her back to a wall. From there she sends a blast of fire into any webs not close to one of her friends.

To hit is a 10, damage is 9 fire.

Amotal sprints in, swords drawn, and interposes himself between Zera and the Araneas. The unusually sharp glint in his eyes almost seems to be daring them to try to attack one of his friends.

(Action: Ready, if a spider moves to attack someone, he attacks it.)

Veil blasts fire at an area of webbing which hits Aranea C doing 4 damage as it burns away.

Aranea B hisses but clacks its pincers... its eyes glisten at Vinny - a leaden feeling washes over him ((Vinny needs to make a Wis Saving Throw))

Aranea A clicks and hisses - upon seeing the spiders, Bran suddenly feels like they look really funny, hilarious in fact ((Bran needs to make a Wis Save))
