On Chadderlay's turn he will use 2 charges from his staff to cast Levitate on himself and rise straight up into the air.

Do you have some ability or other rule that supersedes the general one noted above?>
Angus takes down Nothic 1 and follows Nothics 3 and 4 into the spire, dispatching the latter as it enters, he sees Nothic 3 hop up the first steps, just beyond the reach if his slashing sword, bypassing several as it jumps nimbly up the spiral stairs lining the interior wall of the crumbling stone column.
(Even with the damage from Chadderlay's aoo applied, the nothic would live. It is the only one left)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(ooc: sorry about that, I know better, lol)
Chadderlay's AoO with his staff:
Attack: 13 Damage: 6

One nothic remains on the stairs inside. Morwena and Avarice (albino tiefling) are in the chamber floating above the spire.
We have Sam on top of the spire, Angus inside the spire, Chadderlay levitating outside the spire and Akame & Tetrevess on the ground outside the spire.
Sam*, Akame and Tetrevess are up
*scaling the tower was Sam's movement, he still had his action
(ooc: how tall is the tower? Chadderlay can only levitate 20 feet a turn to a total of 60 feet overall... I think?)

Tetrevess moves inside the tower and fire bolts the last nothic : 18 to hit for 11 damage. He starts working his way up the tower
Tetrevess hits the norhic, but if he starts climbing the stairs he will bump into the creature.
@Sam I'm not sure who you're aiming for. Is 'the other mage' Avarice the Teifling or Morwena the Red Wizard? Avarice was already up in the glass chamber, Morwena just flew up now. <on my first reading, I thought it was Morwena; now I'm uncertain>
(ooc: are there windows, balconies etc. any other way to gain entry after I reach my levitating limit of 60 feet or should I start on my way back down now? lol)

It's a ruin. You could probably just punch a hole through it at this point.
Still waiting on clarification from Sam, it matters.
I'm just going to run Sam in DM for a minute since nobody else is seeing what's happening in the rooftop, anyhow.
<I am serious about the pinching through the wall thing. There was never an obstacle to ascending the tower from the inside, so no reason to introduce one, bjt I'd rather see player agency instead if dm fiat and let the rule of cool dictate if it is possible, rather than some arcane str. V. Durability check rule>
The nothic is still running up the stairs, it sounds like Angus Tetrevess and Akame are following him. There is a ceiling to this building, but its lit internally with the same magic that illuminates the streets.
Alright, I'm compressing time a little here, but its moot (its milestone; you don't get xp for killing the nothic).
As Angus, Akame and Tetrevess follow the nothic April ting up the stairs, they see the exit atthe top of the stairs, but hope to overtake tbe creature as it bears the access door to the roof. Ten feet from the top of the stairs, a ball of fire enters from the rooftop, rolling down the stairs, in truth never touching them, but hovering just above them as it moves. The nothic tries to jump back, toward Angus and the others.
Chadderlay's AoO:
Cast a Fire Bolt at a nothic.
Attack: 19 Damage: 14 fire damage.
On Chadderlay's turn he will use 2 charges from his staff to cast Levitate on himself and rise straight up into the air.
"Up! Up! And Away!"

Ducking both of N1's attacks, the paladin retaliates with a longsword slash.
AoO longsword Attack: 15 Damage: 10 magical slashing + 1 radiant damage
-------
Then, on his turn, He will continue to attack nothics, beginning with N1, moving on if it succumbs to the others.
First longsword Attack: 12 Damage: 10 magical slashing + 7 radiant damage
Second longsword Attack: 12 Damage: 12 magical slashing + 2 radiant damage
----
If all opponents are down, he will begin to sprint up the stairs of the tower.

Akame decides against teleporting for now and instead follows Angus inside and looks to find a way up.
There are stairs spiraling upward along the inside of the spire's curved wall. The last nothic is already on them.
Anything from Sam, Tetrevess?
Could I attack
sam will see the two mages go up “blasted red wizards”
Sam will cast guiding bolt to hit the other mage
12
damage
18
Tetrevess moves inside the tower and fire bolts the last nothic : 18 to hit for 11 damage. He starts working his way up the tower

It's 120ft. I just moved Sam and Morwena at 'out of combat' speed so Sam could witness her act of betrayal.
Tetrevess hits the norhic, but if he starts climbing the stairs he will bump into the creature.

Spoiler
Made you look!

Akame casts Toll the Dead on the last nothic. Wis save DC 18 or take 22 necrotic damage
Wis save DC18 1
The nothic us affected by the spell, but lives on.

The nothic lands on Angus, holding on to his helmet. The 5ft wide ball of flames continues to hurtle down the spiral stairs.
Will it strike Angus?
DC14 Dex save for ½ of 5 fire damage
<the stairs themselves are nominally 5ft wide. There is no handrail on the inside, though there may have once been. >
