Avarice explains "The wizards of Ythryn were on a mission to find relics and ruins of Ostoria, a 40,000-year-old empire of spellcasting giants. The record of the city suggests it mysteriously disappeared well before the fall of tbe Netherese empire. Mages of the day believed a powerful artifact to be the cause of this destruction. Thst is what I have come to find"
"The city was under the command of a lich named Iriolarthas. He was obsessed with finding relics and magic from Faerûn’s ancient past." Avarice explains. "It seems you've met what remains of him, and based on what I've observed, he doesn't appear to be interested in sharing resources."
"Ythryn was governed by a group of eight arcanists known as the Wizards of the Ebon Star. Their names and faces are immortalized in the city’s museum. I believe they may he among the survivors of the city's collapse. You see, Ythryn’s mages could extend their lives indefinitely by preserving their brains inside jars. If we csn find rhem, they may tell us where we can find the artifact of immense power lost to the ages in this city."
"As a newly minted member of the Arcane Brotherhood, Avarice and I have allied to find these items, though we have not made contact since I set about on my mission. Now, we are prepared to usurp the treasure of Ostoria from thst lich and liberate it for ourselves." Morwena concludes.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The moment Chadderlay reappears he uses a 4th level spell slot to once again cast Magic Missile sending 3 at Avarice and 3 at Morwena, each doing 5 force damage.

Angus glares at Chadderlay, and says, "Whoa, whoa, we've got a temporary truce here."
Turning back to Avarice and Morwena. "And once you obtain this artifact... what then? Overthrow Szass Tam? Conquer the world? Create even more rifts to allow Starspawn to invade our world?"

Blackroot is a poisonous herb grown in the underdark and is fermented into a toxic brew thst is consumed for pleasure but s notoriously thick.)

"Instinctive Charm. Morwena tries to magically divert an attack made against her, provided that the attacker is within 30 feet of her and visible to her. She must decide to do so before the attack hits or misses."
My interpretation is the effect on targeting at the time she sees a spell being cast.
By the end of the minute fog cloud no longer effects the area.
(OOC So, Morwena and Avarice are here to get the artifact for their own personal use to take control of the Red Wizards. And the rest of us are here at the behest of the Harpers to bring the artifact back to them?)
Well, Morwena thinks she csn take over Thay. Avarice has her own intentions. The arcane Brotherhood is a neat organization. They recruit thiae they fear ad a means of protection. It's a very thin alliance but they promise noninterference. In point of fact there is another member you could have met that would have precluded this alliance if you engaged with. You cannot have both. This alliance wad conditional and not mutually exclusive.
Sam wants it for his own reasons. I think the Harpers said they want it (who wouldnt) but mostly just don't want Red Wizards / Szazz Tam to get it
Chadderlay lowers his arms to his sides and waits to see what happens next.

Magic Missiles fail to Pentwater the ice wall surrounding Avarice, who rolls her eyes. Morwena shakes her head in disappointment.
Listen, were all here for the same thing. We can tear wachother apart trying to get it ir we can focus on the task at hand and cooperate to reach our goal. Iriolarthas remains a threat and we may have to deal wirh him before we can get through rhe barrier around his tower. For whatever reason, he seems to have it out for Avarice, but he's offered you a truce. My guess is he saw tbe strength in numbers we present, no offense to your friends, Avarice, but it seems the lich felt we would be victorious if a conflict arose. Now, if he thinks we have reduced the threat to an acceptable level of risk, he may simply attempt to eliminate us, ir he may try to pick us off one at a time before killing the last of us outright. I dont know if he can, but if I've learned anything about liches living in Thay it's that they are extremely risk averse and are utterly devoid of empathy." Morwena expounds.
To Avarice she inquires, "What I wonder, though, is what it was that made Iriolarthas so concerned about you, in particular?"
Avarice tight lipped feigns ignorance, "Morwrna, dear, I am sure I haven't a clue."
Morwena stares at her, silently.
"Alright, fine!" Avarice relents. "When we first arrived in the city, I had my back to a wall. Then I felt it: the disturbing sensation of a huge disgusting tongue licking my back. It tirns out, the whole wall was a huge mimic. Without hesitation, I banished it. Unfortunately, this didn't go unnoticed, because somehow it had become a load-bearing wall. The noise from the collapsing structure drew the attention of the demilich and, of course, just as he arrived, the mimic reappeared. Caught off-guard, it allowed our escape, but if he recognized the effect for what it was, it's possible Iriolarthas is especially averse to banishment for some reason. In any case, even being a frail thing ss he is, he csn still pack quite a punch. Four Black Knives met their end at his hands, so to speak, in a matter of seconds. He is something of a glass cannon and not one to be trofled with," Avarice concludes.
Angus says, "I propose a temporary alliance then, to deal with the threat of the demilich. Afterwards, whether we seek the artifact together or separately, we can agree not to attack one another. How does that sound?"
Sam meanwhile still grappled by the hand “oh for gods sake how about this we agree to put an end of this and get this dammed relic and we say no more about it, then we move on from then deal” then hearing Angus proposal “oh yeah Angus like that part of the bargain will hold up but I can do that”
Angus says, "I propose a temporary alliance then, to deal with the threat of the demilich. Afterwards, whether we seek the artifact together or separately, we can agree not to attack one another. How does that sound?"
The alliance of the Arcane Brotherhood is based on the principle of non-interference. I don't harm you, you dint harm me. Beyond that, matters are as they are. Good enough for the gods, good enough for us. My agents are already hard at work in the city, fewer in number now than before they met you. I intend to remain here. Whatever has held Iriolarthas at bay and beset you upon me in his stead has likely not chsnged. If anything, he's lost a few nothics. I shall, therefore remain here. I will speak with you all the while, though. That is, if you do not object. (Referring to rary's telepathic bond).
"Morwena and I have an accord of our own. This city is mine. It's treasures are mine. What she wants she has already bargained for. Thus, I offer her refuge beside me in this chamber until we have access to the tower of Iriolarthas. "
With this, Bigby's hand releases Sam over the open floor of the glass chamber, dropping him to the rooftop below. "The rest of you may take your leave of us."
(was there something we needed in this tower to unlock the center tower?)
No. You're looking for the inscriptions that say "First..." "Second..." they tend to be in the towers aligned with each school of magic, but some are missing, so it's not 1:1. This spire is the remains of a transit station. It does not contain one of the inscriptions.
<I think 8 is kind of a lot for pbp, so maybe ill just have Acarice find some of the less interesting ones. Also, Iriolarthas does actuslly know how to get in but his wasting and the nothics lack of understanding prevent him from accessing it. Though, if he discovers youve failed to remove the teifling, he may just kill you there (or try anyhow). He is driven more by, ironically, avarice, than self-preservation. >
He's probably not waiting right outside. Just point to something or choose random, odds of an encounter are fixed, one among those could be the demilich. You could just kill him if you're not trying to msnip7late him, though. He's not 'important" just "there".

Hey. fun fact: might come up, might not. In Netheril Reckoning, the current year (in game) is 5354. Enjoy.
