If Piccolo did perhap see something hidden in the lake, Ethan is hoping they can use that as a distraction for the three trolls. "I was thinking: Instead of fighting them... when they approach, we retreat and show them where their "toy" is. That's my idea. Thing is I don't know where you both spotted it. You'll need to guide them towards that... critter." 

The PCs, even if they don't speak giant, can expect tat whatever the trolls have in store for them, it won't be pleasant.

The two trolls in tbe pattern are motionless, but one male continues to advance.

"Trolls!" yells Trisk as a warning when they all start rushing toward the party, "And they think we're toys or food... or both."

Trisk's Initiative: 2 

Targeting the troll that's still advancing on them Trisk will cast Chill Touch during his turn.

Attack: 29 Damage: 12 necrotic damage, and it can't regain hit points until the start of my next turn. Until then, the ghostly, skeletal hand clings to the target.

If you hit an undead target, it also has disadvantage on attack rolls against you until the end of your next turn.

 Tr8sk's spectral hand grabs ahold of the troll's 🧌 gangly arm as it runs toward the group, yanking it back as it propels itself forward, the arm grotesquely stretching a bit behind the creature before yanking the hand along with it, lime a taught rubber band.

Randy, Ethan, Sam and Tetrevess are up.

Trisk watches as only a lone troll keeps advancing on them. Pointing it out to everyone he will shout, "That one! The one still moving!"

"I thought Randy said we're luring them into something are we not?!" Ethan responds baffled; He doesn't attack yet, but if the trolls do decide to turn on the party members (Trigger), he will retaliate.

“bah.. trolls.  never liked them myself.  Sometime ill tell the tale of when trolls wrecked a beautiful series of books I had- illuminated manuscripts on the magical fungi of Oerth.   err.   Fire.. they dont like.”. he snaps back into it and launches a firebolt at the troll that is unaffected by the hypnosis.

(ooh natural 20 to hit, for 25 damage)

 Yeah, they are fully hostile entities, accustomed to torturing humanoids for amusement.

 He's got 85ft to cover, so he can start doing that. It's a straight shot. 

So, assuming he can put the key in, what does he do with it? Disrupt it, probably, but then what, like open a portal to somewhere? That's what black gates do. Just gotta pick a place you have an attunement glyph for.  You don't have to know all the names, just give me a general idea what you want to do.

Can I just assume you want to get to the Temples of Extraction, where Szazz Tam's minions are harvesting some kind of energy from The Chosen?  It's either that or keep exploring the Doomvault, and unlike earlier editions, 5e does not reward you for doing that (neither did 4e).
