Casting Conjure Animals, you bend down and whisper the new set of instructions to your spider companions. They all nod (somehow?) and diligently crawl into the shadows and scamper in the direction of the kitchen.
(ooc: Once again, for the sake of the ease of play, I'm gonna ignore a part of the spell. The range is 60 ft, but that would make the use of the spell pointless as the spiders would disappear almost the second you step out of the bunker. The time limit stays, though. Depending on how long you guys choose to stay outside, it might last for the duration of this "field trip". I'll let you know.)
The exit door---surprisingly easy on its hinges---swings open to reveal the great outdoors, illuminated in bright sunlight. You all shield your eyes from the sunlight for a moment, letting yourselves adjust to the light. With Emelina leading the charge, you take your first steps outside in weeks, the newly grown grasses and small bushes crunching underfoot. There's a wall of fragrant, old pine trees directly in front of you, across a small clearing filled with more young plants. There are burrowing holes everywhere, and the occasional chunk of concrete or the occasional small rock leave small indentations in the ground. It's quiet. The only thing you can hear is the rustle of the pine trees against the wind, and the occasional chirp of a grasshopper or two. The start of moss colonies can be seen in a few of the cracks in the bits of concrete strewn about the place, and in the dirt. Other than the trees, most of the flora around you is new, from seedlings popping out of the ground, to plants that are quick to establish themselves, such as dandelions and alfalfa bushes.

Ah - sorry! I thought the range on that meant 'how far away from me the creatures can appear when I first cast it' but that once it's cast I could then leave that range, and not 'how far away from me the creatures can go once I've cast the spell'.
If you'd like I can use the latter interpretation going forward.
Ainsley takes a look around to see if she can see any sort of tracks that might look like they belong to a big animal and/or humanoid, and also to see if she can see the remnants of any other buildings.
Nothing in particular stands out to you, amongst the brush. You take a step or two forward, trying to see better, and you still don't notice anything... What is that? you think, as you see a small, torn piece of something burgundy-colored on a bush nearby.

Ainsley, make me an Investigation Check and a Perception Check please!
Mr. Blue, you crouch down, looking at all the different burrowing holes left in the ground. You believe that there are a few different rodent colonies They all seem to live in the area; maybe a rabbit colony and a few vole colonies. Your suspicions are confirmed when you see a wild rabbit pop it's head out of another hole.
Emelina, your spectral hand takes the material to you. You take it from the hand, and try to look closely at the material. The eye patch is making it hard to really see, and you don't want to strain your eyes. You hand it over to Mr. Blue. Before you do, however, you feel that it has a soft, fabric-like texture.
Mr. Blue, it immediately dawns on you that this is some sort of fabric The second you touch it you feel the familiar grainy texture of the cotton-blend t-shirts you used to wear outside of school. There's a small piece of the hem on one part of the patch, maybe from the sleeve or the bottom hem of the shirt.
Gwin, you take a second to look around. Most of what you can see is just trees and grass. No buildings in sight, but the rubble serves as evidence of buildings standing nearby. Or maybe not standing, you can't tell. The most you find are a three good sticks, and two small rocks. (ooc: I'll add these into your inventory, if you want to keep them for later use.)

Ainsley, you try to look through the trees to see if you can find any buildings. Though you have no luck, you try to get to higher ground to see if that changes anything. Luckily, the part of the bunker that is above ground has almost a "roof" to it, with a metal ladder leading to the top. You climb up and look around. In the distance, you see the ruins of the city you once knew. You see the Performing Arts Center has collapsed, its glass dome ceiling no longer standing tall. The arched entrance to the private woods (that used to be a public park, before a certain eccentric politician bought all the land from the city to house the bunker where you all now reside) in the middle of the city has crumbled completely. The city where skyscrapers once reached their concrete and metal hands to the sky, the city where the streets shouted with the sounds of rude road ragers shouting out their windows and the honks of those just trying to get somewhere, the city where the night felt just as alive as the day as bars would blast live music from the open windows, the city that you all knew and loved and hated has now become as eerily silent as a concrete desert.
Hopping down from the roof of the bunker, you try to look around for any kind of indication of what has been here---maybe even to find out what made those footsteps last night. With your eyes glued to the floor, you walk around the clearing. It takes you a few minutes, but you find a trail of trampled grass leading from the bushes, to the entrance to the bunker, and back into the bushes. There's no definite shape to them other than their size. They're too big to belong to a small rodent, like the ones that made all of the burrows that Mr. Blue was checking out earlier.

Atop the bunker, looking over the remains of the city that was, Ainsley takes a moment to mourn what was once there, and now isn't.
Once she gets down from the bunker, she notices the trail of trampled grass. 'Hey! What's over there?' she says to everyone else, pointing. 'Maybe we should follow that trail and see where it leads?'
valkas looks at where ainsley points "well, we are aready outside, we should explore all we can, right?" he sighs "to see our world broken like that. . . it's really heartbreaking"
"A piece of a shirt, perhaps? I suppose it could have blown under the bush and caught, but... I don't see much else caught there. Maybe what you heard was actually another person in need of help. Should we call out?" He looks to Gwinn, hoping she has the expertise to speak on such a thing of search and rescue
Emelina " Well lets keep the piece of fabric for now. I would hold off on calling for now. In case someone dangerous comes" She looks to Ainsley "Lets follow it and maybe we can solve this mystery of the foot steps"
