Vars is a bit more on board since there is no blood contract required. So, he seems a bit more engaged.
"Yes, what kind of artifact are we talking about? And who is this Gringal? You seem to recognize the name. It would be good if we know what to expect going forward."
“I like your style my friend.” Sparhawk looks at his fat employer. what should we know about this guy and where might we find him?”
”Grin’dal is a nasty pirate. Banished from Luskan many years ago for ignoring all traditions and violations against all the ships and even against the arcane brotherhood. He is known to be an expert in poison and potions. According to this letter, he is expecting Bernard in the mines under Mirabar. I will have my man in Mirabar do some …digging and you can meet up with him for the information. You can find him at the “Goat and Chain” smithy near Moradin’s Thumb on the high tier in Mirabar. He is a dwarf named Lothar Frostbane, one of the best smiths in northern Faerun.”
Eberk watches Fist closely, trying to gauge if they are being told the full truth about this new job opportunity.

“ As for the artifact I have no real knowledge of its purpose, only that Kursk had acquired it from far off and that the arcane brothers want it. It comes from Thay so whatever it is its nasty, but valuable”
"Interesting, our group hasn't faired well when it comes to poison. Do you know of any ways to boost our immunity?" Sparhawk still remembers the arrow that pierced him.
"We are all tired from our journey, let us sleep on it and we'll make a decision in the morning. We have some equipment to replace, and some business to conclude with Irongrass. Perhaps some other items are needed before we embark on this path. If you like, I can let one of your staff at the Inn know our decision."
"Hmm," Vars nods at the mention of Thay--a potential lead to how Abernathy is involved in this. Even indirectly. Perhaps this artifact has something to do with why the same thieves from the house attacked them when they ambushed Bernard.
“A pirate bad enough to be run out of a pirate town. And he has some artifact with him that is likely dangerous.” Eberk thinks for a minute. “What kind of things is Grin’dal capable of? I think we’d like to ensure we have as few surprises as possible.”

“Aye, get some rest and leave a note with tha barkeep saying only yay or nay”
Fist pats Sparhawk on the shoulder and heads back into the secret dock lair.
After Fist and his crew leaves, "Alright friends, its time for some talking about next steps." He looks at each, "First, I want to thank you for trusting me and allowing me to be part of your group. I came here knowing no one and you have accepted me for who I am.
"We have a number of employment options and no blood oaths, so that's relieving.
"We should also go relate to Ironfist what we found at the house."
1) We have the guy we met on the road, for some employment here in town. 2) we can go back and keep exploring the cave. 3) We have Fists option, 4) we still are on Abernaths trail, which likely is connected with Fists. (5) There was that wanted poster for the other criminal, can't remember his name.
Also, we can each go about and replenish our supplies, arrows, weapons, armor, but lets do this quickly and move on to our next thing. We each have about 500 gold right now. (Dwar will let us do this quickly, not sure if you want any magic items, probably just ask him in the private chat.)
"I certainly want to give you the option to go your separate way if these options are not for you, no hard feelings."
"So we have roughly 500 gold for each, but if anyone needs anything larger, we can decide as a group, like we did for my armor. Saving some for Mirabar is also a wise choice, although I should like to replace some of my weapons and maybe some healing potions would be helpful for us."
Sparhawk makes a list of what their belongings after trading armor, weapons, etc.
"Unless anyone disagrees, lets head over to the the mages castle and request an audience with Irongrass." Sparhawk looks at his friends. "We have a lot to report to him as well, which may help us in assessing how involved these Thay wizards are." He scratches his chin. "All of this seems connected and completing this loose end may help us assess what we would like to do next. Then, lets get some upgrades and items for our travels."
"Yes, that sounds good," Vars agrees. "Though...what are we going to say about the little, incident? I mean, we could just tell the truth, but I suspect that might lead to other issues seeing how the wizards are the ones who had to clean up the mess."
He pauses, "We should go see that guy we met on the road, just to see if whatever he wants is worth it. I'm pretty sure we can chase that wanted criminal in Mirabar...I think that was where he is supposed to be right now. So we can do that alongside whatever we choose, assuming we are headed in that direction already. There is also the potential job dealing with that shrine, the goblins, and the werewolf. If we head back towards Mirabar, we can check in there as well. Just to see if it is worth anything, I don't know what the reward for it is. I say we take Fist up on this one, seems how he didn't ask for a blood contract. We've got a good lead, so it shouldn't be to difficult to find him." He gives Bjorn a look as he says that last part.
After sun up, you make your way across the bridges to the tower. The guards are just beginning to set up for the day and you are the fist people to arrive at the entrance. One of the guards says “ we ain’t open as of yet, bout 1/2 n hour before the doors open”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Ah, no worries my good friend." Sparhawk smiles at him. "We'll wait here until you open." He looks back at the group. "But, if its not too much trouble, we do have some rather urgent business to discuss with the wizard Irongrass. As a former guard and soldier myself, I know not to make the boss irritated. I wouldn't want him to be angry at you for holding us up." He winks at the guard. "So, if it isn't too much trouble, you may want to let him know that Sorsha Deepfatham's crew is back to report." ” oh, your the ones who kilt them big crabs. We ate good after that, heh he. let me check with the front desk..”
He let’s the other guard know and he enters through the door after a quick scan by the eye.
After a few moments, he comes out the door and waves you in. “ wait here a moment and one of the masters with be with you” he says as he heads out to finish setting up.
you are in a huge room, the entire base of the tower shape. The roof extends to what must be the point of the tower itself. The place you are standing there is a half-circle desk and several chairs. At each of the “root” bases there are large statues of heroic looking wizards locked in battle with some unseen foe. The marble floors are pristine white with silver streaks. The walls seem like they are made of glass and allow a perfect 360 degree view of the island and surrounding ocean. Occasionally you see a broom moving of its own accord, keeping everything tidy.
Soon a slender male wearing a green tunic with poofy white silk pants and green fez hat approaches. His skin is a light tan, his hair is shoulder length and black. He is clean shaven and generally good looking. He has a welcoming big smile, reminiscent of Kutoti Irongrass’s manner of greeting.
” Welcome friends, I am Hawthorne Maenlarys 1st Assistant under the Iron mage. How can I aid you?”
"Hello Master Maenlarys," Sparhawk says warmly, "and thank you for seeing us early, I greatly appreciate it. We are here to report back to Master Irongrass on a rather urgent matter." He looks at the assistant, "Please inform him that Sorsha Deepfathom's crew has returned. However, the captain, bless her soul, unfortunately is not with us. I am Sir Sparhawk and speak for the crew at this time. Thank you."
“ Ahh, I am sorry, but Master Irongrass is not present. He attended the Harvest festival in Longsaddle and has remained to evaluate a few possible recruits from the area. There is a lot of magical talent in that town. Perhaps I can help you in his sted.”
Sparhawk looks at him and looks troubled..., "Unfortunately... I do not feel comfortable revealing our information to you directly without the consent of Irongrass. Unless my companions disagree," He looks at his friends. "I'm sure Irongrass can find us if needed. We will likely be traveling towards Mirabar."
"However, I expect you could be of tremendous help to us with our quest for Irongrass." He again looks at his friends. "Any questions you have of Master Maenlarys?"
