"Hah! You're going to need to cook up something that'll impress the old boy. Put it in the statue's hand, let him smell it." Bjorn laughs. "What's a statue like to smell?"
He looks around for a flame to light for cooking, and some dishes.

"Hmm," Vars walks over to Lir, and glances upwards at the mechanism in the nostrils. "Well that's an interesting prospecting isn't it?" He says without much humor as he squints at the tubes.

Getting close to the nostrils you can feel a light movement of air going into them
"Ah, I think Frangipanis pepper on the hand did it." Sparhawk tries to gently manipulate the statue, hand, etc., to try to see if a compartment opens, or it rotates to reveal something.

( going to need a lot of pepper)
you can see the arm has more movement available to it and that the air going into the nostrils has increased slightly
As the hand fills up with pepper, the arm lowers more, and the volume of air going into the nose of Greygor increases.the hand stops when level with the nose and the pile of pepper is sucked into the statue, nothing spilling into the extra basket.
when the pile of pepper is consumed in this manner, the arm shoots back up into it original position and the statue expels an object out of its mouth which is now opened with a sound that closely resembles a sneeze. A key, about 6” in length bounces off the wall and comes to a rest not far from the oven. It is made of brass with different colored crystals embedded in a pattern along the shaft. From the position next to the statue you can see clearly the well lit room leading out of the kitchen.
This rectangular room has a closed door at the far end. There is a large dais in the center with steps leading up to the top, approximately 6’ in height from the floor. All four corners there are statues of dwarven wizards with one hand out stretched towards the ceiling. Each hand contains a different color crystal or gem, which faces the most amazing thing you have ever seen. A cube of water almost the entire length of the room sits suspend 6’ above the dais and extends up and through the chamber roof. There are many varieties of fish swimming in the clear water, both fresh and salt water varieties somehow. There are currents of colored light flowing through the floating, magic “ aquarium “

Vars looks around, "Alright... well this is getting more interesting." He walks up to the statues and peers up at the gemstones, "I'm going to assume we don't want to touch those without significant caution," he shoots Bjorn a meaningful glance before turning his attention back to the statues. "The question here is... does this have any purpose other then to provide the master of the house with a personal magic fish tank?" He looks around the base of the aquarium for anything that might indicate further significance besides...well that there is a floating mass of water with fish inside.

Lir leans in, looking up the nostrils of the statue.
"What is..? Someone, please explain."
[Requests a party member to investigate the nostril mechanism.]
The open page of the cookbook:
Well made food is the greatist of treasure
the Key to great food is…
lots, and lots of Pepper

Sparhawk reads this out loud. “The key”
”I think we need to do something with pepper. “
“Frangipani , please make us something that that spoon of yours. with lots of pepper” (Short rest perhaps if anyone needs spells).
“Then we are moving to the pool”
"Hmm," Vars walks over to Lir, and glances upwards at the mechanism in the nostrils. "Well that's an interesting prospecting isn't it?" He says without much humor as he squints at the tubes.

Frangipani frowns and pours pepper from her pouch into the hand...
(assuming nothing we have tried has worked, does it appear that the hand and statue could support one of the barrels of pepper?)
(Also, Sparhawk will check in the barrels for a key)
Getting close to the nostrils you can feel a light movement of air going into them
once there is a bit of a pile of pepper on the hand, the arm moves down slightly
(Sparhawk grabs two of the smaller baskets, fills one with pepper, and slowly pours it on the hand, while the other is underneath to catch the pepper)

The fact that the next room is "well lit" catches Reginald's attention.
Cats go Moo!
(Are we under the pool of water from the cave or east of that area?)
"I wonder what this key is for? Could be something in here, could be for the chest we opened above."
Sparhawk will investigate the statues, their color, and the colors on the key for any clues to a pattern:

"Frangipani, did you see these colors when you were swimming in the pool?" Sparhawk looks at her. "Did if feel like you were being threatened?"
"Bjorn, please don't touch those crystals!" Sparhawk warns while smiling, thinking of some past incident.
Vars looks around, "Alright... well this is getting more interesting." He walks up to the statues and peers up at the gemstones, "I'm going to assume we don't want to touch those without significant caution," he shoots Bjorn a meaningful glance before turning his attention back to the statues.
