Garth nods at the orc's promise, unsure of his real intentions but will to trust given the circumstances. At the mention of "the cleric", Garth's eyebrows shoot up and he turns to Lophi, "Is this also what you would advise?"
(( Going out on a limb and assuming she says "yes" ))
Garth nods, "So be it. Let's start our journey, and on the way you can tell us what you know of the caverns."
Salamir locks eyes with Ear for a moment, seeing his reluctance but also some hope of an alliance.
"An alliance then, between The Red Wolf Clan and the Shadow Guardians. Until the current threat is dealt with, and from there we can try and forge a better understanding between us", he says to Nar.
He turns to Norak, "You will see why you need us, do not worry about that. We will prove our worth. So yes, lead the way Norak".
As they move off toward the Caverns Garth shakes his head, grumbling in a low voice, "Ain't got nothin' to prove to nobody. Why's everyone always sayin' otherwise?"
“Because everyone will want to judge us and find our value out for themselves. With titles and fancy weapons” he points to his Garth’s dual blades “comes that pressure. Now we go out and deal with this quickly yes? Norak was it? What do you and your men specialize in? Are you front line fighters or skirmishes? We should know your strengths if we’ll be cooperating.”
As they all head out, Belkaria hears Garth, and pokes him playfully with her elbow. "Cheer up ol chap. No ones asking you to prove anything. We're here to help. And well... earn some gold." Other than that she walks along, checking out the orcs as they lead them, hoping there won't be any issues between the two groups.
Lophi turns to Garth and says “Yes, this is the path I would advise. I will stay here and continue to study this book for clues, helping as I can. If we do not stop this, the curse could spread from here. Good luck to you, I give you Ildiwyn’s blessing on your task. May her light protect you from this foul curse and the minions of Nizrak.” She says a prayer over you and then retreats to the inner portion of the cavern to manage the orcs who are ill.
Norak nods to Salamir, but says nothing more to him. He points out the 5 other orcs who are joining you. Norak leads in front and the orcs go two by two with torches, marching out of the cave. It is late afternoon / dusk.
Javier you can tell the orcs are front line fighters, they give you no doubt about that. They are in hide and some leather armor, carrying great axes and javelins. They march at a fast pace, and it is a struggle at first to keep up with them through the winding and twisting caverns. You are headed out into the wilderness surrounding the forbidden caverns.
A couple of miles out after you have been hiking, Norak stops and comes back to you. He speaks in a gruff, powerful voice to the five of you. “Listen you runts! Do as I say so that no one dies! I give the orders around here. We don’t take orders from puny runts! If you listen well, you may live to tell about it! Norak will deliver the bird cage to Nar!” He stares with glowering eyes at each of you.
(Each of you, please give me an intelligence saving throw.)

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Norak growls and glowers at you enough that you are all taken aback by the large and intimidating presence of the orc. He has convinced you that he aims to lead this mission, for now. You are all frightened of Norak, and you have been coerced by him to accept orders that he gives.
After he talks to all of you, he heads back to the front and marches on. You are heading east at a quick pace. In fact, it is a little difficult to keep up. You stop at the bank of a small river, it is only 30 feet wide, but you are unsure how deep it is because it is dark and the moon is low. Norak hesitates and sniffs the air, holding still for what seems like an eternity. Finally he motions for his orcs to cross the river. As they cross, you see that it is only thigh deep. After you cross the river, Norak leads you to the right and up a dry wash to avoid some thick vegetation.

Garth sees no point in following the burly orc, but hides his contempt, content to let him blunder in front -- better that they die in whatever traps lay ahead than he or any of his companions.
One who leads by fear has no place in Garth's world, so he is happy to give in to the unusual compulsion, edging away from Nor as they march, keeping well to the back while watching for pursuit or an opportunity to disappear into the forest and be rid of him. Only the small sense of duty to his companions prevents him from departing for good at the first opportunity, but he is happy to blend into the forest, only keeping sight of his companions. The orc's presence was strangely unnerving.
@DM: How often do we get to save against this? In honesty I think Garth would just walk away at the first opportunity. The fear also means he can't move closer, so that is also the natural outcome. When he eventually saves against it, all that will be left is anger, contempt, and resentment, so the behavior will likely be unchanged, lol.
Salamir takes a step back away from Norak as he makes his threats, the large Orcs intimidating presence causing a rush of fear through him.
He knows in his mind that Norak is not the right person to be in charge but simply cannot make himself speak out against him.
As he drops back, he whispers to the others, making sure none of the Orcs are in a position to overhear.
"This is not what I signed up for".
(OOC: Also would like some information on how this works. Salamir is also not so invested in this that he would follow Norak if there was a chance of a clean getaway instead)
Hlin shakes her head, but falls in line. No point in arguing with Norak at this time, but if his leadership proves to be incompetent then she will have some words with him.
Javier keeps his head down and stays close with his companions. He puts a hand on Salamir’s shoulder. “We see this through to the best of our capabilities yes? Go one step at a time for now.” He whispers with a slight tremor to his voice.
Belkaria mutters under her breath some, unsure how to handle this new situation. She can see that her friends aren't thrilled with it either. She wants to ask the orc why he stopped so long to sniff the air, but a little afraid as to what he'd say. So she just continues on with the rest of the group.
Garth nods, speakng quietly, "Aye. Maybe it's the curse? Either that, or I'll be gone before long. That one scares me for some reason, and I ain't got no reason to trust any of 'em."
