Fionn, as you look t most of the leather bound books within this room, they don't have titles but have intricate filigree that you suspect would have once been made from gold or silver leaf.
Bayrith, with the books and scrolls that are scattered and within the side shelves, you don't notice anything magical or arcane about them. With the three books on the back-most shelf however, one of them catches your eye. The cover of the middle book contains some symbols and runes you recognize. As you come close to it, it gives off a subtle but noticeable aura of magic. You don't know whether it's something good or bad though, as it has no indication at all of what it is.
"All of these look so mundane..." Bayrith says as he sifts through everything. As he gets towards the back he sees the tomes on the shelf and perks up a bit! He reaches for the middle book but stops himself muttering.."Yes, remember what happened last time Bayrith" He whirls around towards the rest of the group, jotting down the symbols on the book into his notebook before saying "Gentlemen! There is a strange book back here on the shelf, I'm definitely sure its arcane in nature, but due to recent events I'm not afraid to admit, I'm a bit leery to pick it up. What do you all think?"
OOC: What are the symbols/runes on the book, that I recognize?
The symbols on the book's cover seems to be an older variant of the symbols sued to represent the schools of magic. In the center is an archaic form of a common glyph in most spell formulae that usually denotes a a spell that has something to do with flames and another glyph that has something to do with vision and clarity.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Bayrith steps forward and relays the information on the runes and glyphs to everyone. "The runes themselves should do nothing, but the magic coming from the book could be a spell in waiting, like a trap of some sort, or it could just hold a powerful spell in the pages....ready....for someone to learn it....." he trails off now as he's thinking about a new spell. After a moment he begins to take a look around the shelf and the book itself and those around it.
OOC: I would like to see if theres any mundane traps on or near the book. Investigation: 11
But suddenly you look around you and you find yourself in a throne room of sorts, and in front of you, sitting on a throne made of marble, is a man dressed in regal, blue robes, who scowls at you. He then points a finger at you, and suddenly you're back in the room with your companions.
Bayrith, looking a bit frightened, actually stammers a bit with a loss for words. "Uuuuhhhhh.....uuumm....Gentlemen, theres more to this book than it seems. It either just gave me a vision, or I was transported to some other place....hhhmmm....did any of you see me disappear? Or have I ben right in front of you?" As he is talking he begins writing in his notebook what he saw.
You can do an Arcana check to see anything overtly magical. If you have detect magic you can use that as well.
Arcana: 20
Fionn is just glancing at the titles

I suggest some investigation is warranted before trying to remove any books. Do you sense any magic around it?
humming absentmindedly Fionn continues poking around the room

"I do faintly sense some form of magic from it but I'm not sure whether it's good or bad"
Rosado pokes book pointed by Bayirth with his sword (he does not want destroy it. Just to check if it is not another MONSTER!)

As Rosado pokes the book...
nothing happens.

Rosado decides to not trust any books here. "Ye smarty lads check the books. Me is simple dwarf. Me still to young for readin' "
(Rosado age is equal to human 30)
You don't sense or see anything that would obviously be a trap.
Bayrith finished looking around for traps and before he changes his mind, reaches up and grabs the book off the shelf, with his eyes clenched shut!
As you pick up the book, nothing happens...

(Did he disappear from our view, or was this just somehting he sees?)

As far you guys can tell, he was just standing there, looking deeply at this book.
"You've just been standing there, staring at the book."
Rosado pokes Bayrith with sword to check if he is still a real dwarf
