A few of the runes stand out, such as the runes that designate necromancy and abjuration. The other runes are either very esoteric or broken from the fragments.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Hhhmmmm. Some of these runes are very old. But I recognize a few, necromancy and abjuration. Maybe, this statue was powering the Specter and giving it its power? I'm not sure though."
OOC: Do I feel anymore magic coming from this broken skull statue? In case you want another check....Arcana: 19 ...ew....use the 11 lol
There doesn't seem to be any imminent magical energies coming from it at all. Though you might as well keep it for research some time in the near future ;).
As you all stand around there, you suddenly see a light and a familiar face come out of the door you just entered through. Carrying a torch is Gundren, the dwarf you saw in the building outside of the mine's entrance. He looks at all of you with a look of relief and thanks.
'By the arm of the Daghdha, you fellers' did it! The town's saved!"
You look at him and see that he no longer seems sickly and looks spry and very healthy again.
Bayrith puts as much of the broken skull with writing on it, into his pack as he can. Then he stands up and walks over to Gundren and begins to "look him over".
"Well, it seems we have indeed stopped the ailment that affected this poor town." He turns to his group and gives a small proud smile.
"Yes, while I think there may be more to this Specter, I don't think I would want to deal with him again....at least not unless we're better prepared." Bayrith says this with a grim face, remembering the fight. "I won't really no more till I study these runes on the skull, but I will need more time and a proper space to set up my books. Then I can probably ascertain more information."
Bayrith falls inline next to Rosado. "Yes, I was thinking the same thing about these runes Rosado, but I will need to decipher them first....I'm not sure what some of the others mean nor which order they should be in." He ponders for a moment before continuing. "I wonder if they shouldn't wait on collapsing the entrance for a bit, in case I need to do more research down here?"
"Hmmmmm. Collapse the tunnel, eh? Honestly, that sounds like a gran' idea. Keep the dead to themselves. But the mayor's plannin' to make it an archaeological spot fer' them boffins in Edinburgh."
"Fionn, if you would be so kind to bring the light closer, please?" Bayrith is looking at the skull pieces and the runic writing on them.
OOC: what roll would you like to try and read the writing?
Fionn holds the torch over Bayrith

Rosado checks his backpack and crossbow. "Ye think we are done here?"
"Seems likely." Narstin replies.

"Glad you're feeling better," Narstin says to the dwarf. "We should head back tot he surface."

"Too easy? Tell that to Bayrith."

"Well I'm glad yer' all safe. Ye look worse for wear. C'mon, the mayor's probably waitin' to give ya' yer' reward."
He gestures all of you to exit from the room and back up into the surface.
Rosado stands near Bayrith "Me think mr clean dwarf, ye should try to copy on the runes on a scroll or somethin' "
As he takes last glimpse before fallowing Gundren"Ye better collapse enter to this tomb.Me tell ya, ye not want this ghost to visit you again".
Fionn follows along
