Markus points at the wooden hut: "It looks like we finally arrived. It looks very much like a shaman hut I must say. Three-earing, anything we should know before heading in there ?". Cautious, Markus will also have a quick look around to see if anything seems strange.
Bosko looks over the hut, happy to have reached their destination. He is well used to the forest and nature, but not so much the heat that saps the strength from muscle and dulls the wits.
"We should call out to Shaman? Or go knock door?", he asks the rest of the group.
He really does not remember hearing much about the Shaman, so is cocks his big furry head t the side to listen to what Three Earrings has to say in reply to Markus.
"Maybe we bring gift, make Shaman happy see us?", he suggests.
Three Earrings stops with you about 20-30 feet away from the hut, which has been fashioned from the different types of wood and leaves that are native to this area, and it looks like it has been standing in this lush, humid environment for decades.
She says, "Ol' Peepos is a strange one indeed, but she's relatively harmless... as long as you don't provoke her. I've known her for awhile, and as I said, she owes me a favor. And I don't know what items you have that she would be interested in, but she does love the jungle. Best thing you can give her is to let her know just how much you love her home."
Then the captain calls out,"My dear girl of the salty sea breezes and the lush life-giving foliage up high, you have visitors!"
A short pause ensues, and then you see the door of the small hut swing open. A small figure emerges, one that's clearly humanoid, but small, and seemingly very old. The figure moves quite slowly, and looks up at you all with orange eyes that are set beneath the many folds of dark, brown leathery skin that has clearly been tanned from years spent in the sun and salty air, and the few rags of clothing hang loosely from her body. It's almost difficult to determine exactly what type of being this creature is, but the long, pointed ears and snub nose give the sense that she's quite possibly a goblinkind, although none of you have every seen one with such advanced age.
The figure slowly waddles forward, leaning on a small wooden staff for balance and support. She looks around at you all and then speaks in a very quiet, raspy, whisper that's difficult to hear above the breezes that flutter through the foliage.
"Whiskers on the Sea... I have not seen you in many moons. Who have you brought me..."
Lazarus would watch and listen to Three Earrings as he spoke of the favor owed and that the best gift they could give would be that of simple flattery. Though, with the heat and bugs, it was on the slightly difficult side of things. He would look to Sunita as she would be the first of the newcomers. Lazarus wouldn't really know how to introduce himself to a hermit but would tilt his head in as he aimed to hear her over the winds and her naturally low whisper.
Raising her eyebrows just a tad as Markus states that he doesn't make friends pay and so wouldn't ask that of them, Alyndra becomes quiet. Accepting the giant leaf their one of their furry companions scavenged, the brunette nods, "Thanks Bosko." Alternating between fanning herself, using it as shade and trying to fan Lazarus. "I imagine the heat must be much worse for you. Does the hat help?" It certainly would provide shade, but heat travels up through the head so she couldn't help but wonder if it was making him hotter.
The big reveal of the hut and the mysterious shaman herself wasn't as amazing as some of her page turning novels, but still certainly intriguing. The half elf couldn't help but stare a little, wondering as to the origin of this old woman. Nodding along with everyone speaking up, Alyndra praised, "This jungle is just as gorgeous as the views it provides and doesn't tolerate any that can't handle it." Giving a rueful chuckle as she continues to fan herself. "It is good to finally meet you." About to introduce herself after Bosko when he spoke to the shaman in a language she couldn't place before her ears twitched as he switched to a language that almost sounded Elven but definitely wasn't. Sylvan? Not that she could understand unfortunately. The wizard glances between Peepos and the bugbear, waiting for a reaction.
The old goblin looks at you all and listens to your introductions. She especially smiles at Alyndra's praise of the beauty that exists in the jungle. She replies in a her quiet raspy voice that can barely be heard over the breeze.
"Yes, jungle many beautifuls, dear... but not so kind to peoples not having strongness. Wild Mother watch over and keep weak folk away, down on waters."
When Bosko kneels down in front of her and addresses the shaman, the frail old goblin replies,
"Bosko... from forest fars away. I Peepos, also from forest fars away, but many years before you, young big one."
She then switches to the goblin tongue and continues,
Bosko
"We kins, yes, but many distants."
Finally switching to Sylvan, she says, "Me not from other worlds behind veil... but speaking sometimes with those walk behind Fae curtains."
Captain Three Earrings answers in a gentle, pleasant voice, "Dear girl, it has been many moons indeed, too many, and I have missed you during each one of those moons."
"I have come to claim the favor that you were kind enough to bestow on me. I bring you some good folk who wish to help me restore the balance of the waters below, which are being overrun by sea devils who have already claimed one of the islands near here. We wish to take the fight to them in their own domain, but obviously they are not of the fish world. I was hoping that you could provide them with one of your special charms that would all them to breathe beneath the seas."
Sunita coloured slightly at being one of the 'weak ones' almost defeated by the jungle humidity, but she didn't take it to heart. If they stayed here she would adapt...
"Good see one kin, even if many distant", Bosko says reverting back to common.
"Wild mother send big bugs? Make bird friends and bugs go away", he says smiling.
He then waits to see the response to the Captain's request, thinking abut what she had said about the Fae curtains, looking around as if he will see one right then and there.
Whilst he waits, he continues to fan himself with the big leaf. "It do help some. At least not burn from sun", he says to Alyndra.
The old goblin answers Bosko. (Looking around, he doesn't see any evidence of Fae curtains, just the forest around the small clearing on the ridge top.)
"Wildmother make all. Bugs, birds, trees, Bosko, Peepos... Make bugs food for birds, make young big one Bosko food for bugs. Trees make fan for peoples. All cycle. All come and go in times. Someday Peepos make food for trees."
Listening to the captain's request, Peepos says in her whispering raspy voice in between tired breaths. You strain to listen to her words above the breeze, some of which are just to quiet to hear, "Sea devils making**unintelligible...** waters, make Wildmother not happy. She tell me that you coming to seek favor. She tells me helping you **unintelligible...** natural order for **unintelligible...**."
"Peepos give charms to peoples helping, make for swimming, but first asking..."
She then looks towards the five of you and says, "You promising make **unintelligible...........** for waters, and creatures beneath waves... not letting the **unintelligible........** for when time comes, honoring Wildmother by **unintelligible......**and fortunes for favor asking to **unintelligible...........**?"
When she's finished speaking, the captain looks at you and says, "Well...?"
Alyndra
You know enough about the Wildmother, also known as Melora, to know that she is the goddess of the wilderness and the sea. She watches over nature, ensures good harvest for farmers, guides sailors and protects them from storms. Her image is often carved into wooden relives and idols in groves and rural shrines.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Markus doesn't like the whispering, nothing good comes from secrets. "I am happy to help WildMother but I would like to know everything that I need to know. We have prove that we are a great team, but we need intel. If you are hiding something from us, how can we be of a good help ? Is there something wrong ? Is there something bigger at play here ?"
Alyndra becomes quiet at mention of the Wildmother, cognizant that she was as fine as any other deity here outside the Dwendalian Empire, but being born and raised believing that worshipping such Gods was illegal, it felt odd speaking so openly now. Though she knew enough of the nature goddess from her readings. Chuckling at Bosko's comment about the leaves protecting them from burning under the sun, she rubs the bridge of her nose and replies, "I think it might be too late for me in that regard."
Looking back to Peepos as she began to respond to the Captain's request, Alyndra tilts her head and leans forward, eyes squinting as if this would help her hear any better. It did not. Trying not to let her frustration show, the half elf nods with what Markus said before adding, "Forgive us if we seem pressing, the jungle is just so lively and loud, we aren't used to it! Could you repeat yourself a tad louder for our sake? We want to make sure we don't disappoint you. ....Or the Wildmother." She threw in at the end, hoping it would encourage the old goblin to be clearer.
((Could Alyndra give Markus Help with Persuasion?))
As you strain to hear the old goblin's weak voice through the breeze, and then ask for clarification, Captain Three Earrings chimes in,
"Pool thing... she's not trying to hide anything, she's just old. Just tell her yes and that you'll promise to honor the harmony of the wilderness and work to preserve the balance of nature and civilization and stuff... nothing that any o' you already already doin', or would do, from what I've seen so far. of ya'. And yea...maybe she'll ask a favor of you sometime in the future, but who doesn't want to promise a favor to a beautiful maiden of the wood?"
"I've made promises to her before and I'm still standing here, fine as can be, no worse for my wear. Just tell her yes so we can get ourselves back down to town, where we can have a nice cool drink."
Lazarus would move his hands through the hair along his arm and would notice his mouth has been open for awhile. "Sun burn isn't something I'm worried about but like, the heat is very... overwhelming."He would then look to the old one and tilt his head to the side before looking her up n down, still aiming to cool himself off via inhaling the soup that felt like the air around them. Sunita relaxed as they reached what she assumed was their destination.
" I wonder if the shaman has any ice magic..."

Sunita did her best not to look like a sodden mess, she sketched a bad curtsey, " Greetings Wise One, I am Sunita of....well...a long way North."

"Home wondrous, full life, sound nature", Bosko says kneeling down in front of the shaman.
He slaps his chest twice, "I Bosko, from faraway forest", he continues, and then switches to goblin.
"Are you of kin?", he enquires in his native tongue, searching her face for further clues as to her heritage.
Switching to sylvan, he asks, "Or you of strange other world?".
