Coming in for the charge think they needed help, these land people handled themselves well. The man takes his hood down to reveal he has long sea green hair, his skin is a light blue color, and his eyes match his hair. Covered in shark bones and corals you begin to notice they are sorted to look like decorations. He begins to speak again in his language.
Sorry, I was chasing these worthless scum and they ended up attacking your... uh what do you call this thing? Is this land?
He begins to look around confused as he pats the boat now actually paying attention to his surroundings. Moving closer to the captian the first one speaking to him he gets an surprised expression on his face, like he's seen some thing new!
Are you a human? I didn't notice before, uh okay I studied common before let's see...
"Good morrow to you, sir humans, I am Zephyros! One of the most wondrous lords of the sea tis front of thy! I wast fighting these scum and those gents attacked thy land trying to escape me. Thee may calleth me mine lord!"
He begins to speak in a very old way of common. Turning to the fighters "Thou has't mine grant you mercy, for fighting those scum. We has't been protecting the surface for thousands of years. Oft one or two escape and attack thy moving lands!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Status report
At milestones in the thread I will do a full ship status report, but since you are all headed to port anyway and since I didn't really keep track of ammunition used for the bombardment (it was a lot) —I will simply say ammunition (solid shot and explosive shells) is very low. There are 4 rounds of chainshot left from the Pirate fight and they cannot be purchased in port since Krunchy crafts them over time.
Same with hull damage, I didn't keep track of it during the bombardment, but you had an ok amount of HP leftover from the massive pirate fight and took the slavers by surprise, so they simply weren't able to mount a viable defense in time even though they were shooting a stationary target. Rolling for damage done by the sea spawns trying to break through it 8. I'll say it's 135/500.
A couple cannons on the starboard side are damaged (the two 2 near the stern side) however they still are functional. The moveable stern cannon is secured in its normal spot and the rigging and sail only sustained superficial damage, as did numerous other areas on the ship, but right now the hull integrity is stable from repairs.
Two (star trek red shirt) crewmen were lost during the Pirate fight, however, no fatal injuries from the bombardment. There are 5 in sick bay being treated by Malon and are incapacitated for now. In port you all may be able to persuade others to join the crew, if you choose. The only NPC with a major injury (due to random dice roll) was Quint and also due to another die roll, he lost a leg. So due to the dice gods favoring stereotypes, he now gets around on a crutch and peg leg.
Current major NPCs on board and their main duties:
New: Og the Destroyer (the muscle), Rosie (supplies), Mozu the Chosen (repairs), Biscuit (former greenhorn slaver/helmsman), Quint's son (currently incapacitated)
Brief summary of events:
Sent off to patrol and potentially gather information for Black Root.
Learned of an uncharted island from a map and of the Isle of Despair from a bandit within Black Root.
Sailed towards the uncharted island, but found a large stash of platinum bars (made by dwarves with their symbol on it) smuggled on the Pirate ship (as well as 3 slaves Og, Rosie and Mozu).
After this pay day you all decided to go for the slaves on the Island of Despair instead.
Freeing all the slaves and sent an evil spirit of some sort back to its lair in the mountain on the Isle.
Xander departs. You all later find out that the halfling Mr. Bolger who signed you all up for all of this is somehow connected to the Isle of Despair and possibly the slave trade.
Currently Sailing to an unnamed port for repairs, resupply, and to secure safe passage for the rescued slaves. Encountered a new ally.
Reeling backwards from the sea spawn's bite, she huffs as she pushes the creature off after pincushioning it. Wiping the blood and sheathing her weapons, she stands firm as she sizes up the humanoid. With the fighting over, she takes a breath and turns to Milo. "Thanks for the support, Milo. Hope I don't catch anything from those things," she says as she rubs her neck. My Lord she thinks, face shifting to match, after hearing him speak.
A slightly nervous Quint has a hard time following exactly what was just said by Zephyros, but thanks him nonetheless, "A lord of the sea? Ah...well...you certainly seem quite formidable... It sounded like there was a thunderstorm up here. It seems like you helped us out, so I thank you for that. My name is Quint, Captain of the Truth's Tenacity. Is there anything we can do for you?"
Quint is unsure of what to do next and looks towards Milo, Grol, and Ban to see what they think.

He mulls over what was said, "An escort to land? Hmm... we are headed to port and you did show up to help. Quint is slightly cautious with his words, as if he's heard of beings such as Zephyros.

Quint is even more confused when looking at the scroll he can't read at all, he says, "I... think it might be best if we all talked inside the galley. Breakfast should be served shortly anyway."
He motions everyone inside and leads you all to the galley.
Hooper's crew comes back on deck to clean up the sea spawn guts and take the helm. As the young man passes by Zephyros he adjusts his glasses and says, "Fascinating," as he walks by.
Quint sits down and Krunchy serves everyone a meal of hardtack, pickled herring, and cheese. He heard the request for kale and breaks out a clay jar of pickled kale especially for the new guest. These were items purchased back in Black Root and taken from the Pirate ship/island, so it tastes and looks alright (not Krunchy's cooking).
This is Zephyros's first look at the obviously "off" dwarf with cutlery for armor.
"Divine culinary artist, Krunchaelog, at your service! But you may call me Krunchy if you wish. Are you a fish, sir? If you don't mind me asking. Oh! Fish! Novel sausages topside!"
He sets the plates down very quickly and rushes up to the deck, cutlery rattling. You can hear his muffled yelling, "Hey, save those fish giblets! Homemade sausages!"
Quint shrugs his shoulders and says, "Sounds like dinner is being planned too. Try not to judge our cook top harshly. He's a good dwarf, just quite...eccentric. Anyway, if it's adventure you seek, then there's plenty of it here."He awaits to see what the rest of you think of this situation.
A few moments after Quint finishes talking, a whistling Krunchy walks back into the galley with an armload of sea spawn parts and throws them into a pot and starts seasoning them as he continues whistling.
Grol sits and uses Sacred Oath to heal the minor injuries from the Sea Spawn. Fish is not a staple of his diet, much less of the pickled variety, but he get it down regardless.
He turns to Zephyros and asks “You fought amazingly today. From where did you get your training?”
Shrugging, Ban flips her hair and follows the captain to the galley. Thanking a nod to Krunchy, she takes a seat. "Look," Ban says between smaller bites, "He and his damaged the ship and caused us some harm as well. I don't care if he's a Lord or not. It's not how things work on a ship. Coming aboard and demanding things; it's rude."
Milo is totally fascinated by the newcomer. He looks at him from top to bottom. Begins to take notes "An lord you say? Do you have many servants? Do they all look like you? How old are you? Can you breathe above and underwater? You must have many stories about your people... I am Milo Honeytongue, great storyteller, everyone knows me up here on the surface and you seem to me like you have many stories for me that I can incorporate in my book.
