Oh Christ there's no way I could do acrobatics for me jumping up? I completely forgot how terrible I am at athletics before coming up with this plan. Anyway sure I'll roll athletics and hope I do alright. Ok not an awful roll, rolled a 15-1 so a 14 for athletics. So let's see where that gets us.
Ok perfect then now the moment of truth I'll bonus action dash using my cunning action to move about 70 feet, now I'm only 70 feet away from the lever. Now pulling the crossbow out and loading it as I begin to fall to the ground losing grip from the ceiling I aim directly at the lever and fire hoping to hit my target. I will definitely be using the bless from Nathanael here and God help us if I miss but at least I will be closer to the lever next round of combat. Anyway I shall roll to attack now. I rolled a 15+6 due to being proficient and having a high dexterity and then I rolled a +3 from the bless so overall I got a 24 to hit the lever to turn it off with a crossbow bolt. If that turns it off then let's go, just let me know how much damage I'll take falling to the ground from the ceiling on my back.
Now do it again with disadvantage and make a dexterity saving throw because a few crossbows fire at you from the other end of the room. (EVIL LAUGHTER)
Ok I rolled two new dice and got a Nat 20 and a 10 so shall be taking the 10 then. So 10+6 so that's 16 to hit. Am I allowed to use bless at all which I'll roll again if that 15 I originally rolled is not accepted? Also will roll my dexterity saving throw is that at disadvantage or just normal?
dexterity will be normal and also sure you can use bless too. Also art is going to cast insect plague and have them protect you from the upcoming arrows.
Ok awesome, awesome so to hit then I have 16+4 to make hitting the lever a dirty 20. Now for my dexterity save I rolled an 11+6 so a 17. Also cheers for the insect plague shall assist me greatly.
Okay so as soon as you hit the lever you hear everything power down before just being spat out of where they are onto the ground or VERY quickly retracting. You may now pass through the door safely which is exactly what are is going to do the the insect plague following him.
Alright I'll still take some damage from falling from the ceiling to the ground, is likely not a big fall but even still probably enough to do a little bruising damage so if you want me to take a hit or two of damage no bother at all. Anyway as Nestor falls I was going to say with his Dex save he is able to slow himself somewhat with his overcoat and land with one knee hitting the floor and other sort of standing. Pulling himself up he looks over to the lever seeing that his plan was a success and looking back to Art for a moment slightly tipping his hat in gratitude for the insect swarm dealing with arrows. "Very much obliged there Art." As he walks onwards for a moment he stops for a second and turns to Nathanael, "And cheers Nathanael for the boost couldn't have done it without ya." At that Nestor continues walking onwards talking to Art and Nathanael not turning back to them but instead continuing on, "If we make it through this all in one piece let me repay the favour and we'll go for drinks after unless one of you feels inclined to off me for being suspicious. I wouldn't blame ye to be honest, use my skillset to assist getting through here and then ditch or leave me for dead, it wouldn't be the first time and you both have justifiable reasons to do so with me." At that Nestor walks through the door safely. I would like to do an investigation check to see if there are more dangerous traps ahead, I rolled an 11+8 so a 19 on investigating to find traps in the next room.
This room seems to be like a standard square room with a few kegs and a large desk at the opposite end. This room has a singular light of which is emanating from the desk lamp and is covered in writings scratched into the wall in full capital saying "alucinatio" "voces" "tenebris" "don't say the name" "run run run" "no escape" and "find the pocket watch". Art walks over to the desk and finds a small journal on it before saying "hey guys come look at this," Also your investigation check reveals something else. A body in the darkest corner in the room with a knife in one hand and cold to the touch. anyone can figure that this man is dead. He is wearing a fancy suit with the cults symbol tattooed on the back of his right hand.
Thinking to himself Nestor likely comes to the conclusion that the name that should not be spoken was the God's mentioned earlier. The running and no escape sign a clear sign that we likely should end off here but of course that cannot be done it would be best we continue but be extra vigilant. But those words, another language of which Nestor seemingly could not speak. The intriguing thing was the pocket watch, find the pocket watch was the new main task I suppose. At that Nestor notices the body, limp and lifeless in the corner of the room. Approaching it somewhat he notices the symbol of the tattoo on the back of their hand. Pointing to the body, "Well it appears we have found one of the cultists anyway. A shame they have passed, could have maybe got some answers out of them." At that Nestor hears Art calling for him to come over and check out this journal he found in which Nestor makes his way over looking at the journal. "Well then Art what is this you've found?"
"It seems to be that fancy mans journal" Art says as he picks it up and flips through it. Then he says, "By the way those words on the wall are latin for madness, voices and darkness." the journal has writings of an unpopular artificer making inventions and testing them but then gets to a page depicting a large machine that looks like a wall of wood that connects to a machine that seems to be producing paper that's measuring something and a machine that controls the wood wall and then another drawing which is the same as the last one but the wood wall separates in half that has a lightbulb in the counter of a metal ring, which looks strangely similar to an eye. After that the artificer gains fame and fortune before slowly descending into insanity and draws terrifying monsters and words in an otherworldly language that you can't recognize. Make a perception check real quick.
"Ah I see, I've heard a word or two of it but I'm not as well versed in that language I must admit." Looking through the images that showed the inventions of the artificer they were interesting I had to admit but it seemed the went insane shortly after. A shame when a mind is lost like that, a shame for any mind to be lost but perhaps they could have been some use in this world with their talents. "Another mind sadly taken by outside forces, despite them not being liked much it is not something I would wish on my worst enemy to lose their mind. Such a precious part of a person to lose." I rolled a 5+3 so an 8 for perception.
okay the best you can notice with that is a large scar running down the back of Arts right hand. Art rolled a 12 and notices an out of place drawer and decides to point it out to Nestor.
Nestor takes note of the scar in his mind but won't ask about it not wanting to create another small fight between himself and Nathanael. Nestor looked to the drawer, a little hesitant to open it. I'd like to check around it to ensure the drawer doesn't have some form of trap attached to it, I'll roll investigation on it to make sure there isn't a trap attached to it. I rolled an 18+8 so a 26 to see if there is a trap attached to the drawer.
Edit i cant use bless for ability checks

I'm gonna let that pass and you got up there, just you kinda slipped a little.

Im not sure, but i believe the lever has half cover

there is no trap.
Perfect I would like to open the drawer.
You open it and you see a small envelop.
