Inquistive quickly ate the sandwiches served but he never really enjoyed himself while on a case, least of all his meals. After waiting for Maggie at the bar the tiefling followed her directions and soon found himself outside the door of room 126, knocking firmly at it.
Truador watches as everyone hurriedly eats their lunches. Looks like he will have to wait until dinner. Oh well. As everyone takes off on whatever task they were assigned, Truador walks over to Nyral. "It seems I missed out on the plan. Shall I continue to stay with you?"
Almost immediately, the door is answered by a tabaxi with mostly dark brown fur. "Mr. Embershade, welcome." Tare Onshaneo-Shadowdancer opens the door wider, motioning for you to come inside the room and take a seat. The room is of the same luxurious caliber as Nyral's, and there are many places for you to sit down. "Would you like anything to drink? Tea, coffee, water? We could also order something from downstairs."

The walk to the library takes a little under 5 minutes along Esperal's main street. It sits at the very edge of what would be considered the edge of town, a thin garden bed and a nice patch of manicured grass proudly punctuating the end of the street. A few feet away there's a group of children in a cacophonous clump, none of which either of you recognize. They are walking towards the carnival entrance that stands close enough to the part of town---where you stand now---for the music and the smell of cotton candy to drift lazily in the air towards you, but far enough for none of it to be disruptive. With a shrug (and a lingering glance or two) you both step into the library's entrance.
The air is crisp compared to the stuffiness of the summer air outside and the smell of wise yellow pages is so pronounced you can almost hear leather spines cracking. But, the room is quiet save for the sound of teeth clicking together, which is coming from the small harengon perusing the shelves of the library.
Are you a local?
You recognize the harengon as the newest of the two librarians working in the building. Named Josaias, he's a new addition to the library staff---he moved to Esperal just a few years ago. You don't see him around the tavern very often, but he'll come once in a while and have a drink. However, if you were to step outside the tavern, you'd know that he mainly spends his free time "walking" his beloved pet mastiff. By "walking," I mean riding him through town as a mount. He's also very fond of the farm dogs that wander from house to house around the town.
(If you feel like Marvin would know said farm dogs I could also give you some information on those as well.)

"Is there an information desk? Or librarian?"Zanibi whispers to Marvin, not wishing to disturb the quiet of the library too much. She starts to look around to see if there is any obvious organization to the place. Her first goal would be to find a section on arcane matters to see if she can get any inkling with this 'Couchmare' spell might be. "Thank you for seeing me Mrs. Onshaneo-Shadowdancer, I hope to not take up too much of your time so refreshments won't be necessary."Inquisitive answered with a polite smile as he found a seat by a small table, motioning for Tare to sit with him. "I am so sorry for your loss, I can't imagine how you feel but I hope to ask you some questions. As you might have been informed I am part of a group that investigates the deaths of your husband and two others here in Esperal."He said, pausing briefly before continuing. "We think your husband might have been targeted by someone who believes him to have wronged them in the past somehow and we're trying to figure out what that might have been so that we might find our killer, maybe something that your husband had expressed guilt or remorse over. We think it could be connected to the war somehow but we are not sure of that. We also heard you were meeting another visiting couple recently if you could tell me aout them and what you did and talked about. Finally I'm curious if you went together to the carnival and if you remember anything odd happening there, if your late husband met anyone there for instance."

Nyral sits down at one of the tables downstairs and motions to Truador to join him. The drow seems delighted to be able to take a moment to relax. "Sit down, relax a bit Truador. Few things to catch you up on. Plan is to go to the circus after he's done talking with Tare. The others went to the library to look up some history of the victims to see if there's any connection or any kind of information on the spell being used. They plan to meet up with us later. I got one thing to do before I head to the circus but for now, I got some time to spare get to know you a bit better. That is, if you're up for a bit of prying on my part. I'll respect it if there is any question you don't want to answer." Nyral seems relaxed and just looking around the tavern part they find themselves in. Not extremely concerned but keeping an eye out with the weird things going on.
After looking around for a bit they seem to focus mainly on Truador and wait for him to reply. He is still trying to keep an eye out for people of interest to him or people that seem a bit too interested in him or folks he knows.
Truador sits in the chair across from Nyral, "Oh, that is a good plan. I think we can get a lot of questions answered by visiting the Carnival." As he speaks, he brushes some dog hair off his hands. "Though, I do need a ticket, but I suppose I can get one at the gate." Once the dog hair is off his hands he waves to the waitress/waiter and orders some meat and ale. "I suppose it would be a good idea to get to know one another better. I of course will not pry farther if i ask you a question you do not want to answer as well." The dragonborn seems just as relaxed as he always is. While his eyes are focused on his companion, he keeps his other senses alert and searching for anything out of the ordinary.
On the walk to the library Marvin speaks up "Oh yeah, Mr. Ivan has nothing to do with this investigation, or so I believe. I just heard he has some interesting books hidden in the library here."
He whispers back to the gnome "he right there"Marvin points to the harengon "is who we want." He takes a few steps towards the man before speaking out. "Hey Josaias, we could use some assistance. My friend, Zanibi and I are looking for any local books on the [civil] war [of 3306], books on nightmares?"Marvin looks to Zanibi with a puzzling look, making sure he got the books on nightmares question correct and wasn't making that up. "And possibly any books on the arcane we might have around here."
(OOC: Not sure the actual name of the war. (Wasn't paying enough attention, apparently) I did a quick search and saw both civil war and war of 3306 being mentioned though)
Placing an order some something light to drink himself Nyral settles down to relax a bit. "I have a ticket but it's for tomorrow. I suspect they might not let us in if they are sold out. I may have some ways to get a couple of us in if needed." The drow smiles and places his one hand on the table as he moves on to less business oriented subjects by asking "I agree, we should learn more of each other. You and Inquisitive have piqued my interest. You seem to have a strong connection to dogs. Have you always been so close to them? I mean, I didn't mean any disrespect but you seemed quite defensive of them when I asked if you had any. Honestly, I was a bit confused at the reply as it made it sound... well probably not as you expected. I figured it best to leave you be, I'd like to avoid another misunderstanding though."
"Why are Mr. Ivan's books hidden? Or do you just mean they are here and there?" Zanibi asks. "What is so interesting about his books? Have you read any of them?"
She then directs her attention to the harengon Marvin pointed out. "Yes, if you have a section on the arcane I'll start there. Then nightmares, especially those caused by magic. Then the civil war and following War of 3306. Please."
"Hmmm. That sounds interesting. Will it get me out of paying for a ticket?" Truador laughs.
"I've always been close with canines... wolves to be more specific."The dragonborn speaks carefully, "Please do not share this with anyone else. Wolves are very misunderstood creatures, and people have a tendency to think of them, and anything related to them, as... demonic? I think that is the word. I'm sorry if i confused you. My upbringing is a bit odd..." He trails off. "I hope this doesn't change your opinion of me, but... well? I suppose i will just say it. My parents were both werewolves, so they were always outcasts. They ended up living out in the wilderness, and joined a pack of wolves. So, as you might guess, I was raised alongside the wolf pups. I know that sounds silly, but it is true. This is why i do not like to think of canines as pets. Every dog, has a bit of wolf in it you know." He watches the drow intently, trying to see his reaction to what he has just been told.

He addresses both of you separately, in a calm voice that is more than appropriate for a library. "We have a section on war history a few aisles over that way," he points in the direction of the section in question, and sure enough above one of the bookshelves there is a plaque titled 'History.' Which is right over there, if I'm not mistaken. It could also be under Social Sciences, but they're different names for the same section." Once again, he points to the section in question, which is on the opposite side of the small building. "We don't have many books on that topic, since we hold mostly historical archives. The History section is small, a shelf or two filled with borrowed textbooks, essays, and papers. Even then, you find only three short books on the civil war, and the war of 3306. The books you read don't have anything pertaining to the use of magic, but there is a lot on the resistance to the use of magic.
From what you can glean, the rebellion had a strict anti-magic policy within its ranks, which they later enforced onto the citizens with brute force and psychological warfare. That is all.
