Inquisitive listened to the others arguments before speaking up again. "I suggest then that Zanibi, Truador and Nyral starts with the crime scenes, working backwards as Truador suggested, while Marvin, who knows the locals, Amy, who will hopefully get a good read on them, and myself work through the contacts. Or we could set up two teams of two interviewing contacts if either Truador or Nyral would prefer that, I would feel better if one of you accompanied my associate Zanibi to the crime scenes though." He finished, looking at the dragonborn and the drow, taking a sip of his drink. "Also, even though this room is very fine indeed Nyral, perhaps we should move our base of operations to Marvin's house. When we decide who does what we get on with the investigation and regroup at Marvin's house at nightfall."
Truador nods as he listens to Inquisitive. Clearly, the tiefling was the alpha of this pack. "I will accompany Zanibi to the crime scene, I am much better at investigating then I am at speaking with people. I tend to be a little..."He searches for the right word, "Blunt?" He rises from his sitting position and looks over to Zanibi then to Nyral,"Well, shall we get started? Unless Nyral has other plans?"
Nyral nods. "Two groups working on it. Zanibi, Truador and me. We are checking Calda's, Thaymoor's and Elibyn's places. Amy, Marv and you are group two. You will be talking to people of interest that may know things. Sounds good to me I'm fine with talking to folks we run into if needed. I have no objections to meeting at Marv's place later either. Where is it located?" Nyral looks to the gnome and dragonborn nodding to them both. As far as choice of people to go with it could be worse. The drow doesn't seem to have any issues working with the pair. He looks to the rest of the group and waits for an answer about where they are meeting. Surprised they don't want to enjoy the luxurious room.
After an answer is provided Nyral looks to Zanibi and says "So, want to lead the way to Calda's place to start?" He motions for the gnome to lead the way.
"My place is on the western outskirts of town, you can't miss it and probably saw it when you came into town, if you came from the west. It's a large farm, and there is a large sign on the road leading to the house-" He pauses for a moment as if mustering up the strength to continue "lavender acres" he continues "I do believe they're growing corn at the moment though."
Truador walks back over to the wall where he left his glaive, "I do believe that starting with the most recent crime scene would be the better idea. I'd like to see it while it is still fresh. So, if everyone is in agreement, we should start with the house of Elibyn Ambershadow." Picking up the weapon, he takes the sheathe off and puts it in his pack, "However, I do not know the location of either house. If neither of you know, we can ask around."He walks over to the door and opens it, "Now, let us be off."
Marvin turns to Amy"We should go visit Kidra first. She's the kind people tend to avoid or ignore, she definitely saw something." and hearing that the other group might be going to check on Elibyn's residence. "Well, if you're heading to the Ambershadow residence, I suppose we'll let you travel with us"Marvin says with a slight chuckle, looking at the rest of the group who were intent on going different ways "After all, that means we're headed to the same place."
Seeing Truador, Nyral and Marvin getting ready to leave, Inquisitive quickly finished his stiff drink, collected the papers still on the coffee table and stood up, glancing over at Zanibi and Amy, hoping they too would go along with his suggestion on how they would proceed with the investigation. "Yes, starting with Elibyn Ambershadow's neighbor Kidra sounds good, thank you for offering us to stay at your house Marvin, as you're the only one in the team with any local knowledge you will be our guide here in Esperal."Inquisitive said to Marvin with a nod and a polite smile. Inquisitive then grabbed his gear, showing Marvin he was ready to leave. It would be interesting to conduct these interviews with Marvin and Amy, having someone who knew these people as well as someone being able to read them well would be great assets in his hunt for the damned soul, or if he were lucky, damned souls. "Shall we go?"
Truador nods to Marvin, "That will be good. Since the places are so close, we can share any information gathered before we move on to the next locations." He will stand there and hold the door open for everyone. Once they are all through, he will duck under the door and follow the others.
"Yes, I believe so Amy."Inquisitive answered with a nod and a rare smile of his own. "It seems like we didn't really speak before. What was your business in Esperal again." He asked the pink-haired woman in a polite tone as they followed Marvin downstairs.
She bites her lip and her hand almost subconsciously gravitates to cover the silver ring that hangs from her neck. "I-uh, heard I could be of some use here. Then the mayor contacted me, and I knew I couldn't sit idly by...you know?"
Inquisitive listens and nods to Amy, smiling politely. "I see. Now that is a very beautiful ring you got there Amy, it seems very dear to you..."Inquisitive continued, true to his name.
Amy blushes and slips it under her green tunic. "Thank you, Inquisitive." She pauses for a moment, reluctant to say more. "...it's a sort of family heirloom."
Truador, who is bringing up the back, can't help but overhear Amy and Inquisitive's conversation. He observes Amy's reactions but says nothing. Reaching a hand towards his neck, he feels for something hidden under his shirt. He leaves his hand there for a moment, a glint of sadness showing in his eyes, before letting it drop back down by his side. He almost looks as if he wants to say something to Amy, but instead he walks past the two, letting his long strides take him towards front of the group with Nyral and Zanibi.
"Apologies Amy, I didn't mean to pry..."Inquisitive said, smiling still. "...although I guess that is what I've spent my whole life doing really." He added with a deep chuckle. "I'm a fairly good listener though, should you want to talk more about that family heirloom at some point."
A small smile tugs at Amy's lips and she nods. "Perhaps another time, Inquisitive." She glances at her feet as they walk. "I find your name lovely, by the way. Is seems rather fitting, too."
Inquisitive chuckled again. "Yes, very fitting I'm afraid, a legacy of sorts if you will, and not a very lovely trait to have as most people don't want someone like me prying into their lives and secrets. It is definitely who I am though Amy, there would be no point in denying that." The tiefling said, glancing at the pink-haired woman beside him, smiling again. "The name have served me well during my life so far though, and will likely continue to do so until the end."
You all walk outside the Lazy Peackock, and it's dark out. The few lampposts lining the streets are illuminated, and moths swarm around their glass covers restlessly. You are the only people out on the street. Despite the loneliness of the immediate area, you can hear the excited buzz of the carnival coming from the easternmost side of town. It's about a five-to-ten minutes' walk from where you stand. To the north---directly in front of you---and through the small alleyways between the buildings, you can see patches of yellow tape and temporary barriers in front of what looks like a house in the distance.
Marvin:
You recognize this as Elibyn's house. Kidra lives right next door, over to the left relative to where you're standing.

Zanibi hangs back a bit with Nyral and Truador as the other group seems to be heading out ahead of them. She responds to the drow's question. "I have no idea where any of these people lived! I've only just arrived here in Esperal. I thought we had someone here that would know." She glances towards the other group, shouting out before they get too far, "Hey, Marvin! We'd best get some directions from you before we head our separate ways!"
Inquisitive listened to the others arguments before speaking up again.
