Once it became clear they didn't need days to fix the problem Vin had no trouble waiting. He liked the idea they all stuck together anyway. As Gewyn and Muir work on the runes slowly piecing together the damage the Rynwell did and repairing various places here and there. Vin just watched. He seemed interested in what they were doing but also didn't want to interrupt their work as it was very important. As various runes get mended by Muir its clear to see that the infernal energy is reacting to it and being weakened. Once the duo are done and the corrupted energy begins to vanish in entirety Vin breaths a sigh of relief. With the portal like this they should be more then fine to leave it alone for a short time while they go and report what happened. They defeated the mastermind of this horrible plan. Fixed the broken runes and removed the infernal influence from the portal. All that was left was to help the soulless. Hopefully some of what they already did helped but if not surely bringing some of the fruits that caused it back will allow folks to come up with a way to undo their effect.
He identifies a couple items during this time with his magic. The ring and the crystal ball. He also stores a new spell in his ring. After that, Vin notices the odd purple bush and goes over to inspect it as Sam says he is ready to go. Vin is ready too having packed the fruits and the broken broom. Elthana says they need to wait for Gewyn to figure something else out and Vin just says "I'm sure he can. If something more needs doing Muir and him have been working really hard on fixing it. Kind of cool how they were able to figure it out." Neferox scoffs like she has no faith in the bard but Vin sure does even if Vin isn't sure what else is needed.
Sam, Órga and Boris all wait near the opening of the room, watching and listening closely to see if Gewyn’s new tune can do… well, anything. The beasts are mostly ambivalent considering they’re pretty clueless about the situation. Sam is hopeful but not expecting anything.
Gewyn sits down with Elthana next to the bush and takes her deformed hand in his. With his other, he begins to play on his pipes. A slow, moody piece accented with blisteringly fast trills and mordants. The hand holding onto Elthana begins to warm with magical energy. Sparks flicker across Elthana's skin, trying to restore it to how it once was.
Then he lets go of her, putting both hands on his pipes. The pace of the song picks up into continuous runs of minor and chromatic scales as he focuses all of his energy ahead on the bush.
As the warmth of Gewyn's music electrifies Elthana's skin she can feel the healing energy entering her body, the music itself invigorates the senses, but ultimately does not change the effect of Elthana's curse.
Continuing to play and increasing the energy of the pipes, Gewyn puts his all into playing, the charm fruit bushes seem to sway along with the melody, their leaves bristling from a wind that seems to have no source, faster, faster, the pace picks up, everybody begins to feel it now, not just Gewyn's magical music but a connection, the mote of light pulses and dances, the purple bush stretches it's branches and grows vines that begin to extend around the basin of the portal, feeling swept up in the moment the group feel welcomed to join in, and contribute something to this grand display...
Vin was by the purple bush when Gewyn began to play. The music seeming to have a lot more... presence. Vin would even say it was infectious. As Vin watches them weave their music magic and the plants seem to sway and move to it. Vin can't help but smile at the simple yet friendly tune that seems to sweep him into wanting to join. He was never one to show off but as the beat begins to infect him he starts to tap his feet. Then seeing the plants begin to dance he has a thought that makes him smile. He can't make complex music but he can create simple musical notes. In fact, he can create three separate musical sounds to accompany the instrument that Gewyn is playing making it sound like there is a quartet here all backing Gewyn and his music up.
Vin Casts Prestidigitation for three effects. All three are of different musical instruments playing simple repeating supporting beats to accompany Gewyn's performance. Simple things like a steady single note drum beat to set the pacing.
Neferox seems to scowl as Vin adds to the music as the young man says "Oh, it's not that bad Nef." The black hound seems to pout but they don't leave and just glare at Gewyn as if this is just annoying. They don't add anything to the music but they don't hinder it either and seem to tolerate the meaningless distraction for now. She seems more interested in keeping watch like how Sam's animals are rather then doing anything with this music. Vin doesn't push though and let's her be as he continues to weave the simple magic. Adding some hand rhymical hand clapping if the others start to get into it.
Sam is confused, concerned and contrary as a general rule. This development is no different, but only more so.
Putting a hand on the scruff of Boris and Órga, Sam takes one small step backwards. Then another. Almost without seeming to move Sam has himself and his beasts backing out of this chamber out through its entry and into the hallway where there are no dancing, swaying, gyrating plants….
Elthana sighs audibly as the spell doesn't work. She looks up at Gewyn, "Thanks so much for trying."
As his music crescendos and Vin joins in, she sits there, a little unsure of herself as they do. She chuckles to herself as she watches Sam make his escape.
Gewyn stands up as he continues playing, and gives a wink and a nod to Vin before he starts dancing around the bush. He gestures vigorously for Muir to join.
Muir casts an inquisitive eye over the scene before joining in, tooting his trunk up in the air joining the joyful chorus which swells to a crescendo. At the very peak of the fanciful tune Gewyn holds a note, the ground trembles under foot, the energy in the air becomes tangible, overwhelming, it vibrates through the bodies of those still present, building tension like the pent up possiblity of an incoming explosion, then.
CRACK!
The mote of light shatters like a mirror, the cracks spider web their way across the void and creates a gap in reality that hovers in the air, just above what would be the surface of the pool, if this void basin held water.
Through the small gaps in this crack in reality, everyone can see small half obscured parts of a grand silver courtyard overgrown and covered in various odd looking vegetation, though it is like trying to piece together a picture whilst looking at it through a keyhole. For now, the Faewyld portal has regained it's small clutch on this plane, and Gewyn feels like this should be enough to save Shionne and Terry.
In the tunnel where Sam goes to escape such grand displays of music, he stands and waits. Once the music is over and the portal cracked, he hears the bell off in the distance, down the tunnel where the party came from the day before.
As Vin plays, and Neferox grumps at the waste of time, the young man can't help but smile a bit at how things are reacting around them. At the sudden Crack of sound however the black hound immediately pounces in a defensive way putting herself between Vin and the portal as if expecting it to take him growling in warning. Vin was also startled with a freight and loses concentration on his musical notes that he did to help Gewyn with his magical song playing. "Argh!" He is almost bowled over in Nef's attempt to protect him but as nothing immediately leaps out to attack Vin he just peers over the top of Nef towards the portal.
Vin sees a small crack to another world with a silver courtyard and verdant green life. Like a peephole into the feywild as the colors and energy from that green light could be little else. Vin looks to Gewyn and says "I knew you could do it." Vin takes one more look at the portal and then says "We should go. I'm sure the portal will be fine now. Even if someone came to mess with it they'd have to start over everything rynwell did. lets go tell the others what happened and get out of this cave. Let the people of the town know its safe once again." With that Vin will head towards where he saw Sam leave. Neferox following. She gives one last odd glance at the portal to the feywild behind her as she leaves. Once again in the shadow of Vin.
Once he gets near Elthana he will say "The ring is a good one. it protects you. Not just from physical harm but more magical effects too."
To whoever handed him the crystal ball to check out he says "This is pretty cool. Any problem with me holding onto it? It can let us check on people we know. See them in the crystal ball like its an eye near them."
Sam watches the show from a few steps outside the chamber. He’s not sure if fixing the portal is a good thing or not but he knows he can’t help so he may as well be out of the way…
His waning attention is grabbed by the loud crack but jerking into a defensive posture and scanning the room shows no threats… Perhaps they fixed it? Or broke it?
The sound from behind him though… that sounds familiar. It sounds exactly like a sound they were careful not to make.
“Guys?” He calls out to the rest.
“Hey! You guys!” He calls out louder so as to be sure he’s heard. “We may be getting company…. That hell alarm we avoided? I think something just didn’t.”
Turning around, Sam slowly starts heading down the hall, beasts at his side. It’s a cautious advance and the others will easily catch up…
At Sam's warning Neferox's ears perk up in alert and the hound is clearly ready to fight. Vin follows and tries to catch up with Sam "I'm coming. Let's go check it out."
Gewyn stares panting at the portal. He is so enraptured that Sam's voice doesn't reach him the first time. When he calls again with more urgency, however, Gewyn whips his head around. "Right. Coming!"He pulls out one of his daggers and prepares for what may come.
Elthana is impressed by what Gewyn and Vin were able to accomplish and as she gets up, she hears Sam's warning and as fast as her backwards knee can carry her, she follows the rest towards him.
You all make your way as stealthily as possible down the tunnel and back the way you came, it takes around 20 minutes of walking to find the source of the sound, as all the while the bell continues ringing at odd intervals.
Sam and his animals up in the front see the bell and the trip wire first, just as Sam locks eyes with it the ringing stops, and footsteps cam be heard moving away from the group.
Sam is about to turn back to the others for a quick, hushed discussion but even as he begins he hears Muir call out... With a roll of his eyes Sam turns back to the direction they were heading and continues off in that direction. "Stay sharp," he says to Órga and Boris. "Stay defensive, til I say otherwise..."
Sam isn't running recklessly but he is cautiously trying to catch up.
There is no response from whatever rang the bell or ran off, though as Sam follows the noise of the footsteps he can't seem to catch up, nor catch sight of what it actually is. After a little while of following cautiously the group come to a junction, the oath forward follows the twig strewn route left by old thicket, the path left leads back to the giants lair and is where the footsteps echo from now.
