"Geonid?" Sam calls out in dwarvish wondering if perhaps they are being playful... But without waiting for an answer he turns to those behind him and asks "Should someone go back and protect the portal?"
"Órga, run back and check the portal room? Come right back wether it is clear or not. No fighting. Just let me know either way?" Sam directs his lion, unsure if their communication is quite extensive enough for such complicated directions or not... But worth a try.
"We should follow the footsteps. I don't want whatever it is to come up behind us when we are unaware." Elthana states from the back of the group as they hear the steps recede towards the Giants area.
Sam nods in agreement with Elthana and turns back to following the sound of the footsteps. Órga will check the Portal Room, he trusts... And alert them if there is a problem there one way or another. In the meantime there is definitely something up ahead in the direction of where they faced the giant. Hopefully all the strange magics didn't do something even worse to that poor creature and bring it back. But no, Sam thinks. They were not the sort to play a game like this... Part of him still wonders if it is the Geonid rock dudes but then again he doubts their footsteps would be loud enough to follow. Whatever it is, he will find it soon enough.
Vin and Nef came up from behind to catch up with Sam and upon getting to the alarm Nef goes around sniffing. They double around it again. Then they growl. Vin looks surprised as he says "Really?" the black hound give a huff and is already in a protective stance near vin ready to bite anything that comes near. Vin looks to the others and says a bit worriedly "Whatever it is... Nef says she can't smell it. In fact, she can't sense it at all." vin looks around as if expecting something very unorthodox to come out of thin air. Otherwise, he continues to move with the group.
“Yes,” Sam agrees sarcastically. “Let’s help the spooky ass ghosts who ring bells and make the sound of footsteps but otherwise don’t exist…”
“Bah!” Sam says a moment later, shaking his head clear. “Sorry. Let’s find out what it is before we make promises to help it, eh?”
Boris, the Giant Boar, snuffs a but not doesn’t really seem to be all that enthusiastic about being here. They do keep an eye on Neferox but don’t seem bothered or agitated, just aware…
As you all follow the steps down the path yiu quickly find yourselves back in the giants lair, his corpse is still laying there stiff and starting to smell. The footsteps seem to be coming from a hole a little further around the corner from where the group extricated themselves from the underwater cavern, you must have simply missed it, hidden low to the ground as you passed the first time.
the hole itself is around 4-5ft in diameter and definitely nothing that the giant himself could have used. Once the group locate the hole, the footsteps stop.
"Well I could try Sylvan again...Maybe they didn't hear the first time".....With that Muir decides to talk to the hole in Sylvan "Hello there! I am Muir. We mean no harm."
Elthana is taken aback by the voice as it rings down the tunnel. She turns to her friends, "It is beckoning us to follow him, to come. Shall we? Or do you want me to respond? I think I can crawl through there without a problem. Actually.. just in case it is a trap, I can crawl through there and if it is an issue, teleport back to you guys. Or call you to follow me."
Impatient as ever, mainly due to her plight and wanting to get out of these tunnels, she starts doing what she suggests and heads to the hole, working her body the best she can to crawl through it.
Sam is about to suggest the perfect strategy for this precise situation. It was foolproof and full of beneficial side effects for each companion. They key component, as he was going to warn them about, was that Elthana could not be the first to enter the..
“Wai.. Wha…?” Sam looks on, befuddled, as she is already skootching her way into the hole. Sam grumbles obscenities colorfully and mourns the death of his plan, even as he bends at the waist and tries to follow her in…
Before Vin could even say anything Elthana was already going in the hole. Neferox walks up beside Sam and has an unmistakably similar look of befuddlement as Elthana winds her way into there.
As Sam goes to follow Vin says "I guess... we are going in the hole?" he's not entirely sure why they are going in the hole but it seems to be the plan now. Neferox gives a small huff of disapproval and Vin says "Umm... she wants you to make sure it's clear before I go in." Vin was definitely adlibbing what she really said as she just continues to look incredulously at the hole Elthana went in and that Sam is trying to squeeze into to follow.
As Elthana and Sam enter the space opens up s little more, enough for the taller members to merely crouch a little as they walk through, the coast is apparently clear and the goblin voice echoes stil from further in.

The lion gives Sam a headbutt before running off back toward the portal room.

Muir curiously raises an eyebrow and yells out in Sylvan "Hello there! Are you friend or foe? I am Muir friend of Shionne"
He shrugs to the group "Maybe they are fae trying to return to their world? If so we could help them"

Sam eyes the hole suspiciously. He does not want to have to squeeze in there…
“Should we knock?” He asks, looking back towards Muir. “Maybe it just wanted the bell so visitors could announce themselves?”
"Well I could try Sylvan again...Maybe they didn't hear the first time".....With that Muir decides to talk to the hole in Sylvan "Hello there! I am Muir. We mean no harm."
A voice rings out in Goblin, echoing eerily off the stone and down the tunnel.

Muir nods "I will stay with Vin if that makes it easier for your Neferfox"
Elthana strengthens her resolve and continues on after the voice...
Sam grumbles but continues following Elthana. He’s grateful for every inch of space he gets but he is missing the openness of the normal caves…
