Vin follows as well. Climbing in behind and having a much easier time in the small space. Nef at first seems to complain with a few gruff noises as they motion towards Muir then gives an exasperated huff and follows behind Vin. Ever dutiful to the young man.
The group press on, you walk around 200ft into this tunnel, as it winds around a corner Elthana and Sam from the front spot a pile of bones a little further down, there is a settling of dust in the darkness as though something recently passed through.
"What you think," Sam asks Elthana. "Kind of no good answer at this point so... Keep going or turn back?" Even as he asks Sam will press forward a bit further to try and get a better look at the bones to try to guesstimate how old they are... And of what kind of creature? ((Perception - 12))
In goblin, Elthana calls out, "Wait please. We're struggling through these tunnels and I'm afraid we're going to lose you."
She saunters over near the bones as she waits for an answer, and sees that they are goblin bones... complete with the tattered remains of some leather armor that looks to have been laying here for at least a hundred years or so. At least nothing to cause more alarm.
As Sam and Elthana push forwards something floats through the air behind them, a spectral apparition of a small Goblin folk reveals itself on front of the rest of the group, it looks toward Elthana and Sam and calls out, it's voice seeming to have no source but bouncing off the cave walls with an echo "Yik piers! hilf si dyel?"
Hearing the goblin's response, Elthana turns as quickly as her body allows and her lopsided mouth drops open as she sees the ghost floating above it's remains.
"Yi, kahl crey, kahl ha gorst? ko dost gorst mush rigorst host? ko vie not hilf?"
The ghost of the goblin itself looks to be wearing very primitive warrior gear and seems excited to both be able to see and speak to living people, it responds to Elthana and the pair talk back and forth for a moment.
After a bit of back and forth, Elthana turns back to the group, "This here is Roggi. Apparently due to abandoning his friends as they were ambushed around some treasure he is stuck here and can't go to the Great Goblin Clan in the sky. He is asking us to help get his treasure then apparently he can and it is just further in. What are your thoughts all? Should we help him or head back to our mission?"
"So... You are talking to a ghost?" Sam asks, confused. "Like... a ghost, ghost? And you... trust them?"
Sam tries to think on this - he strokes his chin, he "hmms" and "huhs" a couple of times and even scratches his butt but doesn't seem to really wrap his head around it all. "Like a 'Boo, I'm a ghost!' ghost?"
Eventually Sam will get down to the nitty gritty of the situation and ask relevant questions of nobody else yet has by the time he gets to it.
"How much treasure? What kind?"
"He plan on taking it with him up to the sky...?
"What ambushed him? Where?"
"Where is the treasure now? Is it still guarded?"
Sam is in favor of treasure, of course... But if the Ghoblin (ghost goblin... get it? Get it??) is just going to take the treasure and frack off to some kind of goblin heaven then Sam doesn't really see a reason to help. "Historically goblins are not the most altruistic of races," Sam points out without seeing anything ironic about it at all. "Not sure we need be helping one for just for the greater good..."
As Sam questions the existence of the ghost in front of him, the GHoblin Roggi looks at him questioningly, not understanding a word that the half orc just said.
Muir in the back of the crawling train get up once they reach the room and has to bend a little bit as to not hit his head. His ears scrape along the top of the room dropping dust down into his trunk. He sneezes loudly. "Uh what's all this about a goblin? I don't see any goblins? What's that? Helping a goblin? A ghost goblin? As much as I like to help those in need uh, shouldn't we be helping those that are alive and waiting for us first?"
I'm with Muir on helping the living," Gewyn says. "And first things that can be done to that end is to maybe get some light up in here. The rocks under my feet keep cracking like old bones, and I'm trying not to think too much about it, but I would still like to have eyes on the situation"
"Better you can't see," Sam admits. "You know what they say about dancing on the bones of dead goblins..."
Sam moves over and helps Gewyn step to the side without crunching too many more old bones. Sam isn't actually particular about abusing the dead but it's a bit different when you are actually talking to them at the time.
"Ok, I understand what you're saying guys, I really do. But hear me out. This guy doesn't know what killed his friends and they could still be around the treasure - thought it was about 100 years ago. It doesn't seem like it is that far away and he just wants us to take it out of the mountain so he can be free. Honestly, I could care less about this ghost and his problems.. but and this is the kicker... he will show us the way out when we are done. Unless any of you know the way out of these caves at the moment, let me know, I'm all ears."
"Otherwise, we follow this ghost a bit further, grab his treasure, maybe take out a few guards, then he leads us to where we need to go." Elthana waits to hear what the others say to this.
Following behind Sam with Nef at his back Vin couldn't help but smile at what they are doing. Having just saved the city and maybe more from the portal they were now crawling through a small hole in the ground. Nef was far less amused and seemed to be on high alert as her ears pivot from facing forward to facing backwards. When the goblin appeared she was all prepared for something more deadly and seemed almost annoyed she was on high alert for nothing.
As soon as she notices the bones were around Neferox goes over to gnaw on the biggest one. As the ghost of a goblin shows up they just continue to gnaw on what looks like a femur making a loud crunching noise while Elthana is relaying what it is the goblin spirit wants. Vin looks back at the black hound and Nef turns their head sideways with a clear "What?" look on her face. Vin sighs and looks back to Elthana adding to conversation "I'm sure we could find our way out but let's help them. It wouldn't sit well with me leaving them trapped here for eternity. There might be something else dangerous in this cave too." Nef gives a small woof which Vin nods "...and there could be treasure." The black hound goes back to chewing the femur.
The group move further into the cave, leaving behind the spectral visage of the small warrior goblin, though apparently still following the disembodied footsteps of the creature. After a short time moving mostly in single file through the cramped space, the tunnel opens up to a small chamber.
Within this Chamber the members of the group with darkvision see a broken desk, a few old broken barrels and crates, three chests, and a stone shelf that has obviously been used as a bed. Every item in this room is covered in a thick layer of stone dust having not been disturbed for many many many years. The more observant members of the party also spot several piles of bones, the remnants of long dead small creatures, similar to the goblin.

Muir unable to see what’s going on as he brings up the rear asks “Hey what’s going on up there? Why have we slowed?”

Muir shrugs and nods accepting Elthana’s suggestion
