Braddik climbs the rope. He feels the strange rubbery fungal flesh give and hold, the texture of its surface provides a surprisingly good grip. Reaching the top he sees the large shelf of rock covered and illuminated by foot tall white stems with tips that glow with a faint purple radiance. The hair thin stems gently sway in the subtle air currents of the cave.
Further back in the middle of the area of the ledge Braddik can make out a large iron bound wooden door in the cave wall. It is about ten feet high and eight feet wide. The planks look large and heavy and the iron work is solid, functional, not decorative.
When touched the glowing stems brighten briefly and the sudden burst of light ripples out through the swaying mass.
The area looks safe, and stable. The mystery of what lies beyond the door beckons.
"There you are!Braddik's up there looking to see if there's anything interesting up there. He will certainly tell us right away if he has found something."
in the time when Grigor is waiting, he looks at the mushrooms. The rope and especially the glowing mushrooms fascinate him. "It's fascinating...dont you think Xorin? did you see how they began to shine stronger as Braddik touched them? And this rope...seems to be also of fungal nature, but its strong enough to hold an entire Person with armor. I haven't seen anything like it yet. Maybe we should take some samples with us."
Braddik looks over the ledge and shouts down "We've got a door up here...and...I don't know, it looks pretty functional, but all the fungus up here is sorta creepy."

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
As Grigor studies the fungal rope he can tell that is it woven from the filaments of the purple stuff on the shelf above. He thinks if he tried to cut some of the fibers off it would make therope dangerously unstable. But upon reflection he could collect the longs stems above and perhaps figure out how to fashion them into a rope later...
You all manage to climb the twenty feet to the shelf above with little trouble, the ever present menacing yet sulking mind of the SLEEPER seething in the back of your minds.
Corvus brings up the rear huffing and puffing under the wait of his armour, the rope bouncing with no one footing it below.
The strands all react in the same way when touched by all of you. Small waves of faint purple radiance spread outwards. It would be quite beautiful if you were not sharing this place with the thing in the pool.
Moving closer to the large bound wooden door you see a message has been hacked into it with something like an axe.
G.R.F. Territory Friends welcome, Foes BEWARE!
There is an iron sconce next to the door on the cavern wall with a guttered torch in it. The door appears to open outwards and a large iron ring is set into the wood about a foot below waist level. The fungus near the door is disturbed from what looks like the door opening, though the regrowth suggests it has been some time since it has.
Grigor will collect the long stems, take them with him and study them in peace later. "Let's see what I can do with it later."
Then he goes to the door. "Hmmm, are we territory friends? I hope so...I would have nothing against a place where we can recover a little bit. Who would like to open the door? It seems as if it hasn't been done for some time. But wait, I have something that can help you".
Grigor will go to the person who wants to open the door. He will touch him on the shoulder with the staff, concentrate and say an arcane word. A transparent protective aura forms around the person. He will feel protected and safe.
"After we had this experience with the tree, I remembered a spell that I got to know some time ago at the academy. It protects you from any influences on your mind."
Xorin curiously runs fingers over the fillaments a few times once he's at the top. He looks up at the door then briefly back into the cavern, "I could use a rest if that's an option soon. Even a short one would be useful."

"Well, lets all hope that whatever's on the other side is less.....whatever this is." Braddik says, waving an arm around to encompass all the fungus and such. With that, he goes up to the large door and tries to pull it open, as the marks on the ground appear to open inward.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
The door is heavy but Braddiks muscle is enough to move it. The thick iron bound wood scrapes on the stone of the shelf, the fungal fibers piling up against is as it moves outwards.
Before you a long ten foot by ten foot corridor stretches into a dimly lit hall. Sparse torches create pools of light here and there in the wide open gloomy space. The torches also illuminate many old stone columns and well worn flagstones on the floor.
In the far distance you hear sounds of battle. Weapons clashing on armour and shield, cries of pain and anger, and th odd horn blowing charge or retreat, you're not quite sure.
Corvus unhooks his mace and swings his shield down off his shoulder and readies then. He cocks and ear and listens for a few moments.
"Too far to be an immediate danger. Sounds like goblin chatter to me..." he turns to the rest of the party, "Eyes open tread wearily." Then he moves forward in a half crouch ready for trouble.
Acknowledging that there is no bath soon, Ayrlin readies his rapier and shortsword again. He looks at both weapons and with a face of resignation he cleans them on his already messed up clothes.
Xorin watches Braddik try the plant-rope-thing, "If only I knew how to cast levitate.. or fly..." he muses, "eventually.."
