Dvark, you don't hear any reply immediately. A minute passes in silence before the Om-Com flickers back on. A sharp crackling and high-pitched whine come out of the Om-Com for a brief moment. "... -n'thearyouver- ... -thereseems to beee sooomeee iiinteeerfeeereeenceee iiin thecommunicationth- ... -ouwillhvtbcrfl- ..." The Om-Com flickers off again.
Karm, you know that you enter the dungeon first and have to wait for some time before your companions appear despite going through it almost simultaneously. This means that in your perception time seems to pass slower on the outside. However, hearing the Om-Com now, you can hear that the communication is delivered faster one moment and slower the next in a random period. This means that there is something more complex than a simple case of time moving slower on the outside compared to the inside.
Drexon is just about to move into the room, to see what the mist is all about and if he can communicate with the creatures from closer, when Eremoz voices his warning.
{{Don't worry about it. I'm rather confused with my own explanation. You pointing it out helps a bit.}}
Karm, you notice that this strange random change of speech pattern happens every time the cracked crystal sparks. You get the vague understanding that this crystal is more than what it seems. It cannot just be used to make the three creatures in the chamber docile.
With Eremoz's warning, you turn to look at where you came from. You begin to faintly hear the sound of skittering footsteps from where Dvark has pointed out the smell of death emanated from. You wait and prepare, but after a couple of minutes, there is nothing in sight. You hear another thump and the sound of skittering footsteps grows fainter and fainter until you cannot hear it anymore.
You wait in silence. A minute passes. Another minute. And as you relax your ready stance, the sealed door that you have passed hisses open. A humanoid figure stumbles out of the room and immediately falls to the ground. You have never seen this type of creature before. They are androgynous in form with pale blue skin and faint wisps of wind surrounding them. A crystalline armor clads their body, slowly disintegrating to dust. Purplish blood pools under their fallen body, turning to mist shortly after. Their hair is fluffy, almost cloudlike, and fading rapidly as more and more blood pools around them.
{{Make a History check if you are proficient in it.}}
Drexon turns to look back at the broken crystal, and then forwards at the strange looking creature, seemingly dying in front of them.
"It is not in my skill set to save that person, not that I know if they are friend or foe even", he says.
With that, he makes his decision, and takes a step into the mist filled room. He does not breath the mist, and doesn't venture too far in, just enough to be engulfed in the mist.
Karm, you have heard stories, read recounts, and seen rough-drawn illustrations, but none of them prepared you in seeing them with your own eyes. They are supposed to be extinct. Some manuscripts said that they went out to the sky to chase the Veistonii Hegemon when the Second Age ended. Before your eyes are the first race that ever inhabits Sabitah, the one history calls the Ancient and the one that has not been seen in Sabitah for more than 7000 years.
Drexon, as you step into the chamber, you feel the mist surrounding you. For a brief moment, the mist seems to be sparkling brighter and brighter as you step further into the chamber. You become enthralled with the sparking in the air and the flashing of the cracked crystal that you nearly stop in your stride and just see the wonderful flashes of lights around you. A surge of hatred and terror fills your mind for just a brief moment that you break from whatever influence the mist or the crystal caused. Your vision clears and you can see what is obscured from your place at the entrance of the chamber. You can see beside the cracked crystal, hidden by a wall, another crystal that is glowing softly. This crystal is undamaged and you think that this is how the crystal is supposed to behave, just simply glow, unlike the cracked crystal that is sparking and flashing dangerously.
Dvark, you are not quite sure if this creature is the same as any other creature you have seen. You do your best with Karm's help to stop the bleeding that seems to have been made by a sharp instrument to their back, but despite everything you have done, they are not showing signs of recuperating. Their cloud-like hair is getting fainter and fainter with each moment. Their crystalline armor disintegrates to dust and begins to corrode their skin and flesh, but you have bought them a brief time.
They jolt awake and look at Dvark, Karm, and Eremoz with their bright sky blue iris-less eyes. Their eyes are unfocused for a long moment before they focus on Eremoz. They grasp Eremoz's leg. Eremoz, you feel the gaze of a creature that is far larger and far older than you have ever known staring from above and beyond as the hand grasps your leg. Knowledge of symbols and runes flows into your mind rapidly, some you recognize, but some you don't even know ever existed. A whistling melodious voice comes out of their mouth with desperation as they release the grasp on Eremoz's leg.
Karm, you are the only one that can understand what they are saying.
"You will do," they say in Primordial. "May this knowledge brings you closer to Curiosity. Tell Them... Tell Them that we have done everything we could. Find Warrior Teranil. Save Chief Fiyero. Save Sabitah."
From what was said, you get the sense that this will not be the only Ancient you will meet in this place and they are under the impression that they are still under attack. From your understanding, they may or may not have been under the impression that the war against the Veistonii Hegemon is still ongoing.
Despite your best attempt, the fallen figure slowly goes limp. Whatever has been inflicted upon them is slowly corroding their flesh while the rest of their body slowly turns into mist and wind until only a pool of purplish blood and white crystal dust remains. They are dead before they stumbled out of the room but the process takes a while.
Looking into the recently opened room, you can see tables and stone tablets tidily arranged around the room. It seems to be similar to the other two rooms, but this one is not as wrecked. There is a sense of ordered chaos in the room, giving the sense that this room, and the other two beside it, are some sort of office.

Instead he turns around, ready for trouble.

This, friends is the first being to step on this world. Yes we should try to help if we can afford it. Honestly this is incredible.

Eremoz slowly begins to step forward. “Hello, friend. Do you need help?”
He looks back to Karm and shrugs his shoulders.
Dvark furrows his brow and walks up to humanoid figure. "I'll check this one out. Someone watch my back?"
He crouches to focus on the figure.
