The fighter indeed goes first. "Master Kaliden, I hope you will not mind if I take point. I have no doubt of your fighting prowess, but your hands heal better than mine, I am sure." If everyone is set, he begins to the east with an easy stride, keeping his eyes and ears open.
“Destroying ghasts is a very fine thing to do, destroying what creates the ghasts, even better. Rescuing someone at the mercy of a ghast is priceless.”
I’ll take rear guard, Clangeddin take point.
(not sure how much time has transpired since our last engagement, if less then an hour Bombil is still protected by warding bond.)
"Destroying ghasts and ghouls certainly is but it's possible that who or what created them isn't in the area anymore. Although if it is still in the area then destroying it would be quiet impressive indeed, and it would probably make the citizens of Cloudgate feel safer." Victor faked a small smile and motioned upwards while he was talking about the city. Then a thoughtful expression crossed his face and he took a breath. "Speaking of the city... did you run into anyone when you made your way down here? Well other than that arm, the Ghasts and myself?"
(In game it's been 21 minutes since the last engagement... so Bombil is still protected by warding bond.)

(Perception: 12)
As the group begins to head to the east, the sound of stone hitting the ground can be heard. If one was to turn around they would see that the bottom jaw of the statue somehow managed to break off and was now smashed on the ground.
{With a 12 as they continue to the east Assarion notices what looks to be small spots of blood within the area of the drag marks, it appears to be quiet fresh and it is possible that the individual that is being dragged was still alive. He also hears someone speaking in what could possibly be draconic further down the tunnel.}
"Blood," reports the fighter, looking down in front of him rather than behind. He eases his sword in its sheath. "It looks like our victim is still alive. We should hurry...but what happened back there?"
"I had been looking at the statue earlier and there were some cracks around the jaw before. My guess is that it finally crumbled" says Bombil to Tagreth, "As for going back to investigate? Assarion mentioned there's hope that whoever is being dragged is still alive. I'd be most regretful if our investigation into a cracked statue led to us being too late to save that person's life. I think it would be better to press on."
He turns to Assarion, "Do you think we're close to catching up with our mystery dragger?"
The half-elf clenches his jaw, frustrated. "We must hurry...yet I cannot help thinking that there is something important in that statue." He crouches over the trail, gravely considering the trail of droplets, and finds himself reluctant to turn back. "We examined that statue before..." He turns back and sees Kaliden in the rearguard, hardly out of the statue room itself. "Master cleric, what can you find?"
Quickly comes to see what Assarion is referring to. insight21 medicine13
{With a 21 Kaliden notices that the jaw of the statue broke off at an angle that would suggest that it broke naturally. It is rather difficult to see if any other parts of the statue have broken away or if it's still mostly intact.}

He turns to Assarion, "Do you think we're close to catching up with our mystery dragger?"
"Shouldn't the person that could possibly be bleeding out or worse, be the priority? I mean a broken statue can be repaired or replaced easily but..."Victor trailed off and looked at the group for a moment before glancing back towards the central chamber with a somewhat thoughtful look on his face. "It is possible that the person that is being dragged could have been slammed into the statue before having been dragged away. If you'd like I could stay back and investigate the statue to see if there's anything that might have been overlooked and if I find anything I can report it to you."
"Agreed," the swordsman replies, "We must hasten." He follows the trail intently; he keeps himself to a brisk walk, though, for fear of traps. "Victor," he calls out, "Are there any traps or secrets we should know about here? Any more special torches?" Assarion scans the tunnels as he goes (Perception: 8, in log).
"There aren't any traps to my knowledge but half way down the tunnel there's a curious looking door imbedded in the wall. I'm not entirely sure of it's purpose but part of me wants to say that it's just an illusion but then again it could be something Xavword added without telling anyone." Victor replied with a small shrug then he let out a soft hum. "No special torches down this one, although it probably wouldn't have hurt to add them."
{ With an 8 Assarion doesn't see anything that could appear to be a trap or anything all that unusual... well other than the foot prints, drag marks and small amount of blood within the drag marks. Which seem to have moved to the left side of the tunnel.}
"An illusion? Hmm." muses Bombil. With the change of side for the drag marks he remarks, "We may be getting close. If they switched up which side they're dragging the victim with, their other arm must've gotten tired. To me that suggest they're probably already close to whatever destination they had in mind." He continues with the group down the hall.
"I think it's best we all stay together, for now,"Tagreth replies to Victor. "If there are illusions down here. Then there is a method that I know to detect such magic."

Victor nodded slightly and glanced at the marks for a second. "I mean if it really is an illusion, could it be possible that it's hiding something that... Stoneclaw didn't want anybody finding? It's just a theory at this point but perhaps it could be correct." He said with a shrug before falling silent for a moment. He closed his eyes and took a breath before whispering something underneath his breath. "Well the entrance to where the dragon's lair is down this way so... maybe the dragger thought they could sneak off with their victim and hide them there?"
{ With a 4 Bombil doesn't spot any trace of the one being pursued but he does hear what sounds to be a whimper from the person being dragged. With an 18 the one being pursued doesn't notice Bombil yet either, although whoever it is seems to be keeping rather quiet.}
"The illusion of a door?" says Assarion as he continues the chase. "I would think illusion would be used to hide a door that is there, not...hmm. It does bear investigating. Once we've rescued whom we can rescue," he adds.
With the talk of an illusory door, a small grin appears on Bombil's face with the promise of another mystery to find out about. And he raises his eyebrows with a small dash of delight when Tagreth piques his interest by mentioning a method by which to detect the illusory magic.
After hearing the whimpering, he turns his attention to the more immediate matter. Wanting to minimize on sound, Bombil draws a piece of fleece from his component pouch and casts Minor Illusion to create a sign for the party to see. On the sign are the word, "I hear whimpering. We must be very close." After the party has time to read it he makes another illusory sign on the ground with the question "Shall we ready for a fight?" in the center and three options that can be pointed to: Yes, No, Other.

Victor nodded slightly as he thought about how close they were to catching up with the person being dragged and their attacker. He didn't say anything right away but as they got closer he mumbled something underneath his breath and glanced back at the others for a moment. "The door can wait, I have sinking suspicion that we'll be in for one nasty fight." He said in just above a whisper as he pulled a dagger from his pouch. He paused for a moment when he spotted the Illusion signs Bombil had made. He nodded again in response to the first one but shrugged at the second one.
Not that far ahead of the party there is a loud sound that almost sounds as if something {or perhaps someone} had been thrown against the tunnel wall and the whimpering stopped. "I should have known that you'd make this difficult! All you had to do was open the passage way to your father's old lair." A deep voice growled a couple seconds later before muttering something in draconic.
