Eglar puts his weapon in its place nods to Ludoff, looks off into space and thought rehearsing his last motions in his mind, saying. "I'm going to have to work on that, backswing." then focusing on Victor, saying. "Victor, tunnel?"
“Whew! That thing smelled terrible! I wonder if there are any more wandering around down here?” Ludolf straightens himself up and pulls out his notebook, taking some notes about current events and encounters.
"I wouldn't be surprised if there were more of them or their weaker counter parts. But they shouldn't be much difficulty for you, you all handled yourselves quite well." Victor said with a small hint of a smile. Then he glanced down at the deceased ghasts for a moment before walking over and picking up his dagger. "Yeah they smell absolutely awful. That's one of the few good things about them, you can smell them coming before you see them. The downside is if you stay close to them for to long you might fall ill due to it."
Karrigg takes the opportunity to collect his dagger, then step aside to read the letter he snagged.
Contents of the letter: 'Victor you don't have to do this if you don't want to. This will certainly be dangerous and I don't want you to put your and Lyndon's lives on the line. But if you're truly sure that you want to do this then be prepared to head down into the underground. I'm not entirely sure but part of me thinks that the killer may have used the tunnels to get in and get out without anybody noticing. You're one of the best guards that we have, it'll be a damn shame if we lose you down there.'
Eglar puts his weapon in its place nods to Ludoff, looks off into space and thought rehearsing his last motions in his mind, saying. "I'm going to have to work on that, backswing." then focusing on Victor, saying. "Victor, tunnel?"
Andnon glanced at Eglar before taking a deep breath. "... It's okay Eglar. Next time you'll hit, I believe in you." He said with a small hint of a smile.
Victor turned slightly and looked up at Eglar for a moment before motioning forwards. "If we keep following this path there's what normally looks like an indent in the wall about twenty feet ahead. That 'indent' is where the door to it was but if it's open now then it'll look similar to this tunnel except there's no lighting except near the opening."
{With a 23 Eglar doesn't detect any traps or dangers in the immediate area, although he notices something moving in the shadows but upon being spotted it disappears almost as if it had never actually been there.}
As the party heads towards the tunnel Victor takes a breath before glancing down at the ground. "I don't know if you'll find anything of importance in that tunnel but it's better to cover any and all possibilities rather than missing something and regretting it later." He thought aloud with a soft sigh.
"Tell me Victor, how well do you see down here? Thanks to the magic of my forefathers, I can see well beyond most. Only some elves and some mages, rival me. And the way you're dressed. Do you have some kind of magical protection?" (120ft)
((Forgive me for not describing this earlier.. Ludolf is a human, and holds in his left hand a rod, which has light cast on the tip of it, providing his light source.))
Ludolf turns as the question is asked of Victor. He scans his thoughts as he listens to his reply. After he answers, he says “Well, where should we go from here?”

Victor chuckled softly as he looked down at himself for a moment before turning his attention back to Eglar. "I can see decently down here, although sometimes I wish I couldn't. Wait, you also have magic that assists you in seeing in the dark? Well it's good to know that, but you can probably see further than I could even on my best day. I don't know..." He trailed off slightly and glanced down for a moment.

"Well that depends. I do recall hearing something hitting something while I was fleeing from the Ghasts, but initially I thought it might have been one of the guards trying to lure them away from me. I'm not entirely sure where it came from but it's possible that it could have come from either the tunnel or the cavern that the main tunnels connect in. Whatever you wish to I'll do what I can to assist you."
“Should we head to that main cavern? Lead the way Victor, take us where you think Xavword would have gone.” Ludolf looks around, trying to get a sense direction and draws a quick map in his journal.

Victor stood still as he thought about where Xavword would have gone if he was in the tunnels. After a couple seconds he started walking again and let out a soft sigh. "If I was in his shoes I'd probably start by checking to make sure that nobody triggered one of the 'secret' tunnels like the one you guys accidentally opened up. Each of the main tunnels has one near the entrance to the main cavern. Then when I was done with that I'd stop and pay my respects to those who've fallen down here to protect the city. Then I'd either visit 'my father's' former lair or visit 'the family' vault."
“Agree, the family vault it is. We can walk and talk as we go. Victor, in your investigations, is there anyone that you suspect as the culprit in the murder of Lord Darkbranch? What have you uncovered thus far? Perhaps a further sharing of information and leads could be … helpful.” As he says this, Ludolf searches Victor’s mind, listening to his thoughts and seeing if there is anything he hasn’t divulged yet.

Karrigg perks up a moment. "What exactly are there defenders down here for? Let's head for the vault while we talk."
Victor took a breath before motioning back towards where they had just come from as they continued walking. "Recently it's been for the Ghasts, ghouls, vampires and vampire spawn but before that we'd send a few people down to take care of giant rats that would make there way into the underground."

"I've never been into the vault but I've heard from Xavword that his father had something that was given to him by the Lord Crestheart a few years ago. I don't really know much about it but it might be a good idea to look into." Victor said with a small shrug as he placed his hands behind his back. "I wish I only had one possible culprit but the more I looked into the murder the more I started to realize that certain peoples alibis didn't make a lick of sense. Around the time of the murder there was a pale blue Dragonborn hanging around the city and after the murder happened he disappeared for some time before reappearing a week ago. The other possible suspects I've come up with are Reves Gahnasath from Mossrock, Daenorin from Rockwell, Halrin Leafoot from Stillsummit and Nelpali from Graypost. Reves and Nelpali are from Cleica and Halrin and Daenorin are from Espar. I know it sounds unlikely but I have a feeling that those four along with the dragonborn are all in on it... even though at the moment the evidence is well... subjective at best."
“Thank you, Victor. Will hold that in mind as we continue the investigation. I think the family vault sounds good, let’s see if we can find any clues there. After you…”. Ludolf follows along, hand on his dagger of warning, lost in his own thoughts for a change.

Victor continued ahead, glancing back every so often to make sure that the group was still behind him. Although as they got closer to the main cavern's entrance he froze up a little when he thought he could hear something being dragged. "Well that's new." He said in just above a whisper, tightening his grip on his dagger a little bit.
As they continue forwards they enter the main cavern, about twenty-five feet in there is a stone statue of what appears to be a golden dragon and near it there are several graves and one of them looks fairly new. To the south east there is what sounds to be a conversation, they both seem to be speaking common although one of the voices has a slight hint of an accent.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Eglar readies his Maul while letting quieter people speak having seen the statue and graves ahead of the others. Eglar sniffs the air for the telling signs of undead. More than just an earthly or sewer, smell. By looking, he checks out the entirety of the area also look towards the conversation.
