The moon elf finishes his ale and leaps up to follow Walt toward the door. Since meeting Zenia and foiling the Divas' attack, they had learned much in quick succession. At least now they had a name and a target.
Zartan doesn't read anything dishonest into the outburst of the patron by the door, although she does seem a little tipsy. But she also seems to be quite urgent and directive.
Rushing out the door, the party is directed toward the River of Gold, which ends at the pier. But the March of Vice parade has evidently begun along the River of Gold. As you arrive at the city’s central thoroughfare, the streets are alive with joyful music and exuberant festival-goers watch the oncoming parade. The streets are flooded with revelers. There is no sign of the datura.
An open carriage drawn by an ox leads the approaching procession. The carriage bears a large man wearing a white mask and vines of jeli flowers. He waves to the adoring public as figures in gowns and head scarves the color of jeli flowers march after him, sweeping the ground in wide strokes with handmade brooms.
Walt watches the crowds gather as the parade approaches. He pulls up the cowl draping around his neck to cover his nose and mouth to protect himself from exposure to any mind altering pink clouds of glitter.
DM: Is there time to rush ahead of the parade to make our way towards the pier? Or is our path already blocked?
IF the path is clear, will try to usher his friends ahead of the parade.

The parade is moving quickly toward the jetty, but you move even quicker. You manage to keep ahead of the procession, as you plow your way through the jubilant crowd. You don't spot your mark, however.
Finally, you arrive at the jetty, the parade not far behind. Black volcanic sand stretches as far as you can see along the edge of the city and jungles beyond. Wharves and piers of all sizes and lengths jut into the water on both sides of you, and a loose flotilla of small, decorated boats drift offshore, watching the festivities from the water.
A massive crowd at the jetty awaits the traditions that mark the end of the parade. Locals call out to the man in the carriage at the head of the parade as he approaches — calling him the “Prince of Vice” — to attract his attention. The white-masked man waves back, grinning.
Walt looks around trying to spot the datura. "Aranor...Zartan...I don't see the datura anywhere. I fear she may do something at the culmination of the parade."
Walt searches for some high ground, perhaps some large boulders or maybe crates piled up on the pier. He looks to the sky and whispers a silent prayer to the Wild Mother asking for guidance. Walt from his perch desperately scans the crowd.

Walt scans the crowd carefully. And he's the first to notice the grasping weeds and vines which erupt from the cobblestone street beneath the carriage at the head of the parade. But before Walt can react, the ox pulling the cart panics, causing the vehicle to careen into a post covered in decorations. The vegetation then wraps around the cart’s wheels and the closest bystanders. A pair of revelers produce weapons, revealing themselves to be guards protecting the Prince of Vice.
Walt also spots a figure in green and yellow throwing something toward the cart. An instant later, a cloud of pink ashes bursts from a sachet, striking the two guards.

Zartan pushes through the panicked crowd, getting within about 20 feet from one of the guards.
The guard takes a wild, sloppy swing of his spear at a good samaritan trying to help free the Prince of Vice from the wreckage of the cart he was in. Spear Attack: 12 Hit: 2 piercing damage.
The other guard attacks the Prince of Vice directly: Spear Attack: 1 Hit: 3 piercing damage.

The woman in green and yellow (presumably the datura "Kala Mabarin") produces an arcane flickering flame in her hand, which she hurls at the Prince of Vice before he is able to extract himself from the wreckage. Flame attack: 24. Hit: 6 fire damage.
Kala scores a direct hit (crit damage: +2) with her ball of flame.
The Prince of Vice collapses, unconscious, seared, and bleeding heavily in his cart. The ox breaks free and flees. The guards stop their crazed frenzy and look at each other in confusion. Kala begins to flee into the crowd.
Walt runs 30 ft towards the severely injured Prince of Vice and leaps up onto the cart. Walt will perform a medicine check to stabilize the victim.
Medicine check: 23 (nat 20 + 3)
Walt quickly gets to work and does his best to staunch the bleeding and apply a soothing poultice to the burns. He looks to the guards and yells “You two! Snap out of it. Take him to a healer, he’s out of danger but he’s going to need more help. And get word to the Kings of Coin to be on guard for attacks from a datura. We believe she’s targeting their first born.”
