Zartan unleashes his own, mental barrage before hopping backwards. DC15 INT Save: 9
The skeletal face winces in pain at Zartan's psychic attack. The being drifts forward, following Zartan toward the docks. "You will not be spared my ire, rabbit." She again reaches out her semicorporeal hand at Zartan.

Zartan hops away and hurls a mote of fire at it. It also strikes, and while the fire doesn't seem to sear it the way it would a material beast, the damage is rapidly adding up. The fog is beginning to dissipate, the skull-like face vanishing and reappearing as it tries to maintain its form.
"My murder will be the downfall of this city!" it gasps. It reaches out toward Walt.

Walt shields his eyes from the blast of the arcane missile strike. He opens his eyes just in time to see the ghostly apparition fade. Walt turns to Zartan smiles a huge toothless grim and shouts ”Hahaha good work, friend! You did it! Take this and watch my back.” Walt sheathes his moon-touched scimitar and hands Zartan a potion of healing. He then turns and runs towards Kala.
Walt kneels beside the datura and attempts to wake her.

"Good work to as well. We make a good team. I think I might just get myself some armor for next time we go toe to toe with a Big Bad." He drinks the poition and goes over to Kala as well.
Kala begins to stir. She is still a bit disoriented.
The second Silent Verse guard returns with a sizable squadron of additional guards at the ready. Samira, still wearing her over-the-top gown, brings up the rear.
While some of the guards begin some crowd control, two of them shackle Kala's wrists. "What happened?" asks Samira. "Who is this woman?"
"Azra Nir will be okay, thanks to your quick intervention, but he nearly wasn't."
“Samira, I believe this one’s name is Kala Mabarin. Does this name ring a bell to you? Or how about the name of Proud Edun? I’m sure both of these names will be quite familiar to the other kings of Coin. Nevertheless, we need to question her to get the entire story here.”
Walt excuses himself politely and respectfully and walks over to Kala. He looks her straight in the eye and questions her.
”Kala, that is your name, is it not? Are you okay? My name is Walt. I do apologize for what transpired here today. I assure you that I am not your enemy and you are not mine. Believe it or not, you and I might have more in common than you think.” He looks back to Zartan and Aranor before proceeding with Kala. ”My friends and I have a knack for getting caught up in things like this and we are merely trying to stop the carnage. Help me understand what’s going on here?”

"Kala Mabarin, the witch's lost child?" asks Samira of Walt. "I've heard the old tales. Why did she do this?"
Kala's eyes begin to focus. "Nargis Ruba murdered my mother in cold blood." Her voice is laced with pain. "The lot of them did. So I fed them to the biza. Amos Nir's son should have joined them. Nargis' daughter should have, too."
Samira instructs her Silent Verse guards to shackle the strange young druid. "She'll be brought to justice," she tells Walt. "And you will receive your reward. And you," she eyes Zartan, "some armor. But what is this about Nargis murdering Proud Edun?"
Walt waves at the guards to wait. ”Please, Samira, listen. I implore you. I know what Kala did was…not right. But you need to listen to her. She’s telling the truth. The other Kings of Coin betrayed Proud Edun, reneged on their agreement and murdered her. Nargis confessed as much to us. Can you blame her for seeking revenge?
Kala is a spirit shepherd, is she not? The datura are said to be protectors of the jungle spirits. They warned the people of the spirits stirring and growing disappointment with the people of Zinda. The warned of a time when the spirits would seek retribution. Perhaps the time has come and this is the penance that must be paid.
Please. Show leniency towards Kala.”

Samira exhales loudly in surprise and internal conflict.
"Exposing any bargain the Kings of Coins made with Proud Edun – and her murder – will bring turmoil to Zinda. Please do not share what you've learned until I determine how to respond."
She fiddles with her hair for a long minute in thought.
"I am determined to bring this woman to justice. But I fear that the other Kings of Coin might seek revenge. So I'm going to have my guards spirit her away to an undisclosed location, I feel. Unless you strangers are willing to take her to a secure place outside Zinda, like the Radiant Citadel. Either way, I will decide how to punish Kala and the Kings of Coin for their crimes."
Walt bites his lip and looks to Zartan, then looks a Kala before addressing Samir’s again. “I cannot speak for my friends, but if Kala will go with me, I would escort her to the Radiant Citadel.“
Walt turns to Kala with an inquisitive look. “What say you? Imprisonment here? Or a chance at a fresh start elsewhere?”

Kala flushes with anger. She looks around warily, and studies your faces carefully. Finally, she sighs. After a long moment, Kala replies flatly to Samira, "I will join the strangers."
But Samira waves her finger. "But this is NOT a fresh start. There will be an investigation, and atrial." She turns to Walt. "But for her safety, and for the peace of this city, it may be best to keep her out of reach of Nargis, Amos Nir, and the others. She is dangerous and must remain in your custody."
She turns and, pulling open her handbag, confers with the guards. She exchanges a few items within the surprisingly deep bag before handing it to Zartan.
"600 gold. Six flasks of jeli wine. Your payment. You may keep the bag, too. It's a very good bag." (It's a Bag of Holding.) "Bring her back from the Citadel when I summon for you, and there will be an additional reward."
