Walt hears Baldar’s belly rumbling from across the carriage, looks towards her and says ,”oh if spicy food doesn’t sit well with your belly, I’d stay away from the Spicy Bro’s stall at the Dyn Singh Night Market. Not sure if they’re still in business though.”
Walt slides down the bench making room for our guest and bows his head to her out of respect.
“Proclaimer Tungsten Ward, welcome aboard. It’s a pleasure to have you on this journey. It’s interesting to hear your suspicions regarding what’s going on in the region. I was beginning to suspect these events are all connected myself!”
”Have you detected any recent magical manifestations in the region?”

Lady Dre drives the horses forward, the town of Promise is left behind, and your adventure into the Rattle commences.
The journey from Promise leads north through the Ribbon, where clustered farmhouses dot the dark-red ground between stands of scattered woods. Eventually, the road dwindles to a track. The stands of trees grow denser and the farms fewer and farther between. An hour passes, then two. Lady Dre and the Proclaimer are mostly silent, occasionally conversing in Godstongue, the local language.
At the screeching, she bashfully stops, and makes a show of inspecting the pipes for "problems" that might be at fault. Her cheeks are pretty purple, and she eventually discretely swings them back around and out of sight.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
Walt bobs is head and smiles at Tuuli's performance. He does a little golf clap once she's finished. "Such a talent! I wish I could play an instrument."
(ooc: no need for deception check, Walt genuinely likes the tunes.)
After the performance ends, Walt's demeanor turns more serious as he notices that they're moving deeper into the woods. He shifts in his seat trying to get a better view into the forest. He kisses his owl wing ring, looks to the skies, and says a silent prayer of guidance in the druidic language to the Wild Mother.
Walt casts guidance on himself and peers into the wild looking for threats.

As you push into the Rattle, you near a weathered farm surrounded by crops that look healthier than those you saw in the Ribbon.
And that's where Walt hears something: Growls and excited yipping resound from the field surrounding the nearby farm. The source isn’t clear, but from the motion of the tall crops, something moves swiftly through the fields parallel to the road.
Walt's keen (and guided) perception notes another detail, too: it looks as if two groups are moving through the fields, one in pursuit of the other, though the dense crops block your view.
Walt focuses his gaze on the field. At first he see's nothing. He closes his eyes, channeling his focus on sound—and then he hears it.
"Friends, look there," he speaks in a low voice and points towards the growling. "In the crops, there's two packs of animals. One appears to be pursuing the other."
He moves towards the front of the wagon and points out the potential threat to Lady Dre and Proclaimer Tungsten Ward. "Look there, in the crops. Can you see anything from your vantage?

Walt squints his eyes trying to zero in on the movement. He calls out to Tuuli ,"I've never been good with distances...they're moving parallel to the road. In the field of crops next to that farmhouse there."

Tuuli says, “Well, I don’t see them, but maybe Lucky can!” and the cat floats through the air in the direction of the fields. (!)
Tuuli is using Mage Hand to (carry) make Lucky fly!
(DM discretion all up in here! Can the Mage Hand keep pace with the cart? Can it do so and also get closer to the fields? Can we triangulate vectors on a diagonal?! I don’t know! :)

Baldar doesn't stop to look but immediately leaps into readiness. She dons her shield and hefts her axe, taking a defensive position on one side of the wagon and directs Bendrak to the other side. To the ladies at the front she says: "If these are wild animals, we will protect the wagon. Focus on driving." Then she waits to see if Walt can identify which direction they may be coming from.
(Mechanically, I am readying my action to attack anything hostile that comes within reach)
Lady Dre slows the horses and squints into the fields ahead.
Lucky floats up into the air. Through his eyes, Tuuli can see something being chased by a trio of dark, horse-sized creatures of indeterminate form. They are running through the tall crops, parallel to the road but in roughly your direction. Whatever is being chased isn't very speedy, and is currently about 40-50' from the edge of the road. The three large creatures chasing it are another 50' behind it.
Hearing Baldar's suggestion, Lady Dre nervously spurs the horses on.
Bendrak takes up his guard position opposite Baldar, pausing to lean over and ask the Proclaimer "You say you investigate these things. Is this not the first time people here have behaved so strangely?"
Tuuli comes back to herself, and snaps Lucky back into her arms. “Go, go!”she tells Lady Dre, “We’ll cross paths with them ahead!” She watches the creatures in the fields, and tries to help Lady Dre triangulate to arrive before or when the creatures break out of the fields.
"Not like this," replies Proclaimer Ward to Bendrak.
Just then, an old man stumbles from amid the crops and falls into the road just ahead of you. He looks out-of-breath and panicked. Prone, he stares back into the crops, waiting for his pursuers to appear.
Tuuli remains standing in the wagon, but drops her pack (and Lucky) and unlimbers her shortbow, fitting an arrow to the string. She holds still, watching.
