Hoard of the Dragon Queen

If the back door is clear for a couple minutes we should try to see if we can get the people out and flee

I will stay hidden in the tree as it's a good vantage point for both a lookout and for shooting. If I have line of sight with Pop's I try to get his attention and sign my plans to him

Pops sees Dawn and signs back that he understands. Pops Says, "Now's our chance to quickly run in and grab the people inside. I can cover our escape, they will never know we got in if we move now!" 

Rockcrusher will run up and try to open the door.  If locked he will knock and say into the door “please, we are here to escort you to the safety of the keep, open the door and come with us quickly”

(can anyone pick a door lock?)

Deekin is just going to hang back and keep look out with Dawn. These people may have a less than desirable reaction to the charismatic kobold.

It's a shame that he has too much smoke in his eyes.

Persuasion 16

"You're here to rescue us?  Who...who are you?  How do we know this isn't a trick?"

“My name is Rockcrusher, I was escorting a caravan on the road to town, I made it to the keep with some friends from the road and they told us you were trapped in here.  We kill the people trying to set the building in fire but don’t have much time before their patrols come back.  We have a secret tunnel back to the keep but we need to move quickly before the patrol returns.”

"Oh thank the gods!  We thought we were going to die in here!  Just a minute, we have to clear out the door and get it unbarred again."  You hear noises from inside of heavy furniture being moved.

After about a minute, you hear a bar being lifted and the door opens to the sight of hesitant townsfolk. Upon seeing Rockcrusher and realizing he looks nothing like the raiders, their faces flood with relief. 

“Quickly follow me, my allies will take up the rear guard but we must move quickly.”  I will lead the villagers back down to the river bank to follow it back to the secret gate.  I will tell maythus “you and the others bring up the rear, I think we should run and flee from fights if possible”. 

The townsfolk begin filing out of the back door of the temple.  Unfortunately the group is large enough - about 30 people, including the local priest - that the process is slower than you like.  Just as the last of the people are exiting the door, you hear a great crack, then a crash from the front as the doors finally give in and kobolds flood into the temple.  Seeing the people fleeing out the back, the lead kobold shouts "They're running out the back door!" and they charge through the temple towards you.

Dawn will shoot the first Kolbold to come in sight (not Deekin) Attack: 23 Damage: 7 + 1

(I believe I have advantage as I'm hidden, please let me know if not)

(Currently they're all in the temple, nothing in site yet)

(How big was the firewood pile in font of the door? What kind of door handles are on the outside of the door? Could something be slid between them to hold it closed?)

There was a decent stash of firewood, though most of it is already burning.  You could slide something in to bar the door from the outside.

Rockcrusher closes the doors and uses a javalin to to stick between the handles and hold them closed.  “Run” I tell everyone and run forward to lead them away

Deekin will stay back and move out with with Dawn,  he will try to keep an eye out and make sure the civilians make a clean getaway.

Dawn waits in the tree until the last of the civilians pass covering the retreat. He will shoot any enemy to shows himself. Hopefully I will not get stuck up in the tree with enemies all around

The townsfolk start to run towards the trees in the direction of the river as soon as they hear the kobolds in the temple.  By the time Rockcrusher finishes barring the door, he's at the back of the pack.  As the last of the group hits the treeline, the two ambush drakes that lead the patrol come running around the corner.  About the same time, you hear kobolds pounding on the back door of the temple.  

(the front corner of the church where the drakes come around is about 100 feet from deekin and dawn's location in the trees.  Both of you are capable of shooting that range if you want to fire at them as soon as they appear, but it's long range for both of you if you do, meaning you'll have disadvantage).
