POINTS OF INTEREST: - An expanse of crumbled masonry and a trench surrounds the entire citadel. It doesn't take a roll to notice it is very unsteady and dangerous. DC10 Dexterity (Acrobatics) to cross it. If you fail by 5 or more, you will fall into a debris-lined trench. - DC10 Intelligence (Investigation) - Ugg. “Right Mr. Tumnas, beautiful jump!” Balrog calls over the chasm.
”I’m not bloody leapin’ that without insurance, not with bloody dwarf legs..” Balrog grumbles as he takes a piton and ties it to the hempen rope he had in his pack.
He then yells to Phil, “watch yer head and tie this off when it gets to the other side”. With that Balrog swings the rope and piton round his head and launches it to the other side.
While not a natural 1, thank goodness, that WAS a pretty bad throw. It went not towards the ones across, but way back behind you, completely in the wrong direction. It is still usable, though, so you can make another attempt.
Judas manages to duck just in time from getting hit by the piton/rope flying backwards. "Nice toss, Balrog. Precisely where you were aiming, I assume? Need some assistance?" He then walks over to Balrog, makes the sign of the cross in the air while reciting some strange mantra, casting Guidance on Balrog.
"Try that again, my friend. Only time time, God will guide you!"
Add 1d4 to whatever roll you were attempting the toss with.
"Ballocks!" Balrog curses red faced as he stomps the ground with a heavy foot. He puffs letting out a long anguished breath and takes a few steps back, before running towards the ledge...
(OOC: I made the wrong decision in not preparing feather fall... dammit!)
Seeing the aciton unfold before him, Varth sighs a bit before he goes up to the edge of the cliff.
"I'd like to go next if you may."
He takes several steps back and goes into a running stance before looking at Judas and saying "If you have anything to help, now would be a perfectly good time to use it..." in an obviously nervous voice.

Judas winks at Varth. Just as he did with Balrog, he makes the sign of the cross in the air while reciting some strange mantra, casting Guidance on Varth.
"Walk the path, my son, any you will be carried along the way."
Add 1d4 to your roll to jump over the chasm.
Judas then steps back far from the edge, and makes a running jump across the chasm: 9
Landing on the other side of the chasm with an elves grace, Judas continues walking like it was no big deal at all, reciting "I won't go back, I won't go home, 'Cause in this place, the dead still roam...."
I'm going to assume Varth makes it across. I have to head to bed, so i'll make the next post.
You guys have entered the Sunless Citadel. You are in AREA 4. Refer to the map if need be. This circular area is cobbled with cracked granite, upon which sprawl the bodies of four goblins, apparently slain in combat. One corpse stands with its back against the western wall, the spear that killed it still skewering it and holding it upright. Three wooden doors lead from this area. A hollow tower of loose masonry reaches thirty feet into the air, but the intervening floors and stairs are gone, except for a couple of crumbling ledges.

“Right, lets try this again” he grunts in a huff as he swings the rope overhead in a circular motion and lets fly once more.
