if we need to keep it safe maybe the tall loud people wouldn’t be the right choice. maybe someone that would overlook there notice... like me for instance.
No Graarl, it's... it's specifically because he's not strong that he's saying he's a good candidate. No one would suspect him of being the one to carry it. Plus, last time the short person transported a magical artifact, the job got done okay...

The fact that I might not be able to get this off of me sounds like a personal nightmare. I think I'm going to bow out of accepting to take it, however I will accompany you on the journey to deliver the item as promised. All in all it sounds like a fun adventure, that's what I'm here to have at the very least.
"The price required when this breastplate is worn is a part of your life force. It's weight on your soul is the required binding that make it impossible to lose or to be take from you. It is only temporary and once you reach Hamble, he will be able to undo the binding and everything will return as it was before." Trabic looks around at the group and then at Graarl. "We have one who is willing without question. I will give the rest of you one more chance now that I have given my explanation. You know everything there is to know and a choice must be made. Do I put the breastplate on Graarl or is anyone else willing to take on this burden?" He looks specifically at Kilseth who seemed to be the most willing but had the questions, then at the others. "What is to be done? Who will wear the breastplate?"
"If Graarl wishes to make the sacrifice willingly, let him. I will aid in his defense but he may wear the armor. There are many ways I can honor my queen." And with that Kilseth let's out a puff of air, as if it were frigid and freezing out even though it is fairly warm. The breath lingers and dissipates.

Trabric pulls the breastplate from the box, "So it is decided, Graarl has accepted the singular trust and all of you as a group have accept the joint trust." Handing the breastplate to Graarl he says, "Put this on under your current armor, it will bind to you and you will not be able to be released from the bind until Hamble is called upon to remove the binding. You can take it off if necessary but if you are more than a several feet from the artifact the life force required to protect it will increase until you are unable to function and you will feel the life force drain from you. You therefore must guard it with your life. It is bound to you and your life force." He hands it to Graarl who immediately feels to pull and the weight on his soul. The group waits as he puts on the unique and beautiful breastplate.
(For Graarl)
Graarl: You have your overhead view still up so you can see what is happening and notice that your armor class increases by 1 and your constitution decreases by 2. The constitution decrease has an immediate effect on your HP, dropping it from 14 to 13. (I added a ring of protection to your equipment and attuned it to you. This gives you an increase of 1 AC. Just pretend that this +1 AC bump is actually from the breastplate.) I also removed 2 points from your constitution point buy. You will get them back, like explained, once the artifact is delivered.
"Well done Graarl. You are handling this burden well. It is possible that under certain circumstances the burden may seem heavier than it is now but fear not and you will succeed in the end. Here is a map to TallTana." Trabric hands the map to Graarl. "You will want to travel quickly but if the rumored trouble is as close as we have heard, you will need to stay off the main highways. There are many spies and if Master SelfSender knew about this delivery he would take great pains to try to stop it. You must take care and trust no one unless they show you the symbol of our Order, and even then do not share all that you know. Only Hamble knows the true intent of your journey. Now go to the village, Bandomeer has arranged for your lodgings and gathered needed supplies for you to carry. I can also gather a small amount of equipment if there are needed items for your protection. We are a small town with limited resources but we do have some such things for our protection and can loan them to some of you for this most important journey. Inform Bandomeer and we will try to gather what we can."
Let me know in PM what kinds of things you would buy if you had a little more money and I'll try to get them to you through Bandomeer. Remember, if you had a little more money, not a lot more money ;-) I'll speak through Bandomeer as to what I will allow (what he can find) and what I wont (what he can't find.)
"Never said Graarl wasn't brave. It was a risk that I was unsure in taking. Now how long is the journey to Hamble so we can remove this from our friend?"

"The time required for you to arrive in TallTana is dependent on your speed of course. Under normal circumstances you would be able to travel the roads in 10 days. Times require caution and I expect that it will take twice that time for you to make the journey. Good luck, Bandomeer will meet you in the village." You all gather your things start back across the bridges.
I need a marching order as you cross back over the bridges.

Wouldn't they just take it from the small man? Ha, don't matter, no one can get it while I'm on guard!
Haha, I think I will let you decide between yourselves who should go on this journey. I am perfectly content to step aside this time.
You know what, that's a good idea - enough people are throwing their hats in the ring that I'm not gonna take it myself.
