"Yes, yes we met your lovely mother Lia, she wants you to join her, very much. We will help you to get to her."Yasmina says calmly to reassure the children, discreetly motioning for the more brusque men to step back and let her handle this. "Can you show us the way out then?" She asks with with a warm smile.
Yasmina - Syllin seems reluctant to leave, glancing over to where soft whimpers and whines are coming from behind the illusion. Faen gives her a hug and says, "Syllin, these people can take us to mommy. She will know what to do." Syllin takes one more look at the illusion and says, "Okay."
All - Thelan has been keeping watch and is confident that there isn't anyone in the tunnel ahead, but still motions for everyone to keep their distance while he moves on ahead of the group. The passage twists and turns upward similar to the other one and ends in a square room with six jail cells. They are all currently empty and look as though they've been unused for ages. There is a wooden ladder that leads upward to a trapdoor in the ceiling. Faen points to it and says, "That leads to the barracks."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Thelan pauses at the bottom of the wooden ladder and whispers to Faen “You two have been very brave, your mother will be proud. Did you see anyone in the barracks? Do you know where the Dragon is?” With a finger on his lips to encourage the others to keep quiet, he climbs the ladder, checks the door for any traps or alarms and listens for any sounds coming from the barracks above.
Yasmina follows and stays close to Faen and Syllin in a protective manner. "So is that the way out from here?" She asks, Razul staying invisible on her shoulder for now.
Sinak pockets the journal before they leave the room, also quickly thumbs through looking for a name, the name of the necromancer who is doing these experiments. Afterwards, he walks with the others, looks up at the trap door. He says to Thelan as he climbs down, “Let me use the guidance of my Lady to check as well. We don’t need to run into a huge band of kobolds.” He climbs the ladder and listens as well, checking the trap doors.
Thelan - Both kids shake their heads when you ask about the dragon. Faen says, "The little dragon guys were carrying a boat with treasure in it and dumping it in the Tel'Quessir." Further questioning reveals that the Tel'Quessir is a large foyer. Peeking through the trap door, you see thin shafts of moonlight pierce this large stone chamber, illuminating thousands of dust motes that drift through the air. You can make out the outlines of bunk beds and trunks, although they’re covered with dust and cobwebs. A few moth eaten rugs cover the grimy cobblestone floor. You don't see nor hear anyone in this room.
Yasmina - Faen nods and says, "Yes. We climb the ladder to the barracks. Then the Tel'Quessir is outside the door."
Neela - You find secret rats nests hidden among the moldy piles of straw bedding in a few of the cells, but nothing you'd consider valuable.
Sinak - At the top of the ladder you can fear the fait sound of clawed feet scrabbling against stone floors coming from beyond the only door in the room. You also hear someone shouting orders and the clamor of metallic objects being dumped on the ground. You find no sign of traps in the barracks or the door to them. You see that the trap door you climbed through appeared to have been covered by a heavy rug, possibly hiding its location. The floor around the door that was covered by the rug is smooth and unmarred, whereas the flooring in rest of the room is scuffed and worn after many centuries of wear.
Sinak moves quickly to the door looking for any lock or latch to close to lock the door. If it is broken, he quickly uses mending to fix it and secure the door. Otherwise, he tries to wedge it shut with a crowbar and prevent entry as it appears this room has been unoccupied for a long time and these are looter kobolds looking for shiny objects for the dragon. “Help me, quick!” he hisses, asking for some help to hold the door, and to the others he motions to get hidden if possible.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
(I am assuming we are still in the room with the cells and not yet in the barracks since we didn't say we were going in there. I don't think we need to latch the door to the barracks - lets hide in the room with the cells and see if we can see or hear who or what is coming in. Happy to retcon and edit this post if we decide otherwise.)
Neela drops the rats nest she was inspecting then looks up as Sinak and Thelan share what they saw. "No Krugh, beyond trap door is barracks. Beyond barracks is foyer. Kobolds are in the foyer with treasure. Hey Sinak, that's pretty weird about the floor around the rug being smooth...sure it's not trapped?"
Then, upon hearing that footsteps are approaching the barracks, she whispers to Sinak: "Sinak, you have such good ears; makes sense since you are an amazing warrior and must always be listening to your Lady who nobody else can hear."
On that last statement to Sinak, the words coming out of Neela's become almost visible in the air, wafting over towards Sinak, worming their way into his ears, bolstering his perception should he choose. Bardic Inspiration to Sinak = 1d6

Yasmina smiles as Neela patiently tries to explain things to the dim-witted half-orc, then making sure not to step on the rug, instead ushering Syllin and Faen into a corner of the room before nodding at the brass-coloured kobold and messaging Razul to fly up in the barracks and tell them who's coming.

Krugh watches Sinak ascends into the room above.
He then follows suit and as footsteps approach the barracks he takes up position on one side of the door, readying his Grreataxe to cleave anyone who enters before they can make a sound. He envisions that if someone enters the room that looks like they are part of the kobolds or otherwise "evil" looking he'll chop at an angle into their backs so they'll be thrown with the chopping motion into the room rather than out of it.
(Neela has given bardic inspiration to Sinak to use as he will. She is staying in the room with the cells to keep an eye on the children, ready to climb up with the others if need be.)

Hearing the warning of the others, Thelan retreats to a corner of the room and moves to hide in the shadows. He readies his bow just in case a threat emerges.
Krugh, Thelan, Yasmina, & Sinak - You hear the clatter of clawed feet approaching the door and watch as the handle turns, but the door doesn't budge thanks to the crowbar jammed in the way. You hear a small thump as someone presses their body against the door but still it doesn't open. A voice calls out on the other side in a language you none of you understand. You hear a faint answering reply in the same language and another thump against the door as whoever is on the other side tries one last time before walking away. After a few minutes, there is less clamor coming from the overside of the door, but you still hear at least a couple of humanoids talking or walking around.
Neela - Faen and Syllin stand next to one another and look around through puffy eyes. They occasionally look to the east, back at the passage you all came from where the echoes of their father's howls can be heard.
Realizing the creatures on the other side are not coming through the door, Yasmina quickly climbs down again. "I think there might be kobolds by the door to the barracks not getting in. I don't understand what they are saying but I assume you would?" She says to the brass-coloured kobold, then turning to Syllin and Faen. "We should continue, your mother is waiting for you." She says, staying with the children. "We must move on. We can't wait here any longer."She then turns and says to Neela, then motioning for Syllis and Faen to move up the ladder, Yasmina following close behind.
"Yes, yes we met your lovely mother Lia, she wants you to join her, very much. We will help you to get to her." Krugh takes up watch at the door again, seeing as all he causes is more upset people and shakes his head.
