Gilded happily gives Drez a dagger, and Kocino the scimitar.
"I would tell you to Be careful with that, too much shaking and you'll cut your own finger off, but you dont seem to have an issue when the blade is in use"
"Good night companions, we have fought bravely and with honor today. I look forward to adventuring with you in the morning."
When he gets to his room, he sets up his small alter and says a small prayer before going to sleep.
Vex, battered and beaten, walks through the tavern door to his room, and hops into bed. “If the hill giant is stronger, we’ll be in a lot of trouble. Better rest so I can fight without dying.” Vex takes off his armour and puts his backpack and weapons to the side. As he slowly drowses off, he hears a voice in his head. “Worshipper, it is I, Fulgur. You have proven worthy of magical powers, so that is what I have given you. Take your rest, otherwise you will go up and face judgment for everything in life.”
“My comrades, I feel magical power coursing through me. Sloden, are you ok?”
Sloden stays on the ground for a bit, as though examining himself for injury without moving.
"I believe I'm alright. And it even looks like we won. Oh good. I'd have felt terrible if the plan failed. I still feel sort of terrible. I've got quite a bit of blood on my clothes, I'll have to see if they have a strong washer employed at the inn."
"And if Corvus wants to put wicked men's tools to better use, why... I can think of no better thing in the world. All that belongs to a wicked man - coin, weapons, land or life- can be redeemed by using it for the better."
Sloden spends much of the rest of the night at the inn, telling everyone to keep it down as he holds a cold beverage against his forehead.
Kocino attaches the scimitar to his belt and hearing Gilded’s comment, sticks his hands in his pockets. With a big smile he says, “Thank you, Gilded.”
On the walk back, he picks more if the plants he had discovered. Returning to the tavern, Kocino thanks Gwen for the room and retires for the night. He sits on the bed pulling out a pen, book, and some of the plant. Kocino spends time examining and tasting the plant. Picking up the pen, he attempts to write notes, but drops the pen out of frustration. After gathering himself, he focuses on the pen and watches as a spectral hand picks up the pen and begins writing down his notes.
Gilded wakes up feeling better than he ever has. New magic courses through him. He dresses, gathers his things and goes down to the Dining area of the tavern. He picks a large table and sits to wait on his comrades for breakfast. He does however order a very large caffeinated drink to help him shake the morning drowsiness.
Waking up, Vex puts on his armour, straps his glaive and shield to his back and puts on his backpack. He slowly walks downstairs. He sits down at the table Gilded is at. “Good morning, Gilded.”
The next morning, Gildaug, feeling refreshed and stronger, prepares for the day. After waking, he spends his first hour of the day in prayer and mediation, before heading down for his own breakfast. "Good Morrow, companions. And what wrongs shall we right today."
"Good morning Gildaug, so nice to see you up and about. You look very refreshed and ready to go. I believe we are either going to investigate the hill giant issue, or Gwen is going to get us into the manor to see her brother.. Or Both." Gilded takes another sip of his coffee(drink) pondering what he just said.
Jess cleans up her mess and comes down for breakfast.
If the orc is working again she will ask him, “Don’t you ever get time off?”
She greets the rest of the party and suggests they take care of the hill giant first, to get as much information as possible before meeting Simon.
“And besides,” she adds, with a sideways glance towards Corvus (if he’s joined the group for breakfast), “I’ll bet a hill giant waylaying merchants has accrued a nice amount of treasure.”
Kocino wakes up and gets his things ready for the day. As he grabs his scimitar, a faint blue energy runs from his arm to the weapon.
He makes his way down to his companions. Upon hearing Jess bring up the hill giant, Kocino begins talking to himself, “What do hill giants eat? Is it just a lot of goat meat? How do they cook it… or do they cook it at all?”
Corvus, watches as the others gather around the table to eat. He had gotten up early and had eaten before most of the others had come out of their rooms, he just hadn’t addressed anyone yet. Noticing Jess’s glance, he frowns. What had given her the idea that he wants wealth? He wouldn’t turn down a few extra coins, but he is not willing to put his life on the line for it. After all, gold can’t pay for what he is after, and he needs to live long enough if he plans to attain it.
“If that is what the majority votes, then so be it.” He answers, “But I do think we should ask Gwen what she thinks. She seemed like she wanted to sneak us into the manor.”
Drezmir joins Gilded and Vex at the table, taking a seat between the two of them if he can. He listens to his comrades, nodding slowly as Jess announces she’d like to go after the Giant.
“As much as I would like to, Gwen said she was going to try and get us into the manor today. I’m not sure when she wants to do that, or if we will have time to do both. So it would probably be best if we wait until she’s here to decide on what to do first.”
Jess had seen the orc early in the morning, here he was again the second day. She had asked him "Do you ever get time off?" he gave a slight huff.
"No lass, this town needs all the coin it can get. We all work hard here to keep things afloat."
He looks to Vex and gives a slight grin.
"I thank ye again lad for the mighty tip, I hear you lot are clearing out the rabble in this town. Many of Jet's men in town have left. Have you heard? Some of Robin's men attempted a heist on the manor. Simon caught them it seems."
After that Gwen had walked in standing beside the party she offered a small wave and a smile before going straight to buisness.
"I hope you all slept well.. I know 13 gold yesterday wasn't enough for everyone yesterday. Not for what you done.. But the client had plenty of potions. (Lesser potion of healing 2d4+2HP healing) I have enough for each of you to have one. I know it isn't much but it might keep you alive. So I have the entrance to the Manor ready but... It may have traps and could still be a little dangerous. Certainly better than a frontal assault. However if you guys wanted to handle the Hill Giant first I'd understand that as well."
Vex turn to the orc. “I’ve more gold for you. You seem like a very nice barkeeper and I know it is hard to survive here, at least from my experiences. You honestly deserve it.” He hands the orc 5 gold and turns back to Gwyn. “I follow orders around here, and if you say the hill giant is stronger than those two jet brothers, we need more preparations to fight it. The manor might give us loot if we make it through there.“
Jess keeps her vote on doing the giant first, “We should handle him in any case.” But obviously will agree with the majority rules in the end.
To the orc she says, “You need coin, I need liquids to keep from drying up, some food too I suppose, and for that I thank you.”
Vex’s previous successful strategy with the orc did not go unnoticed to her. She lays down 5 gold coins on the bar for him. “Here’s a few more of those coins you mentioned needing, as thanks for your excellent service. And by the way, my name’s Jess, what’s yours?”
Gilded moves over in a manner that invites Drez to sit with the Dragonborns. He listens to everyone talk about strategies for the day. He hears Jess order food and drink and does the same. "Please bring me some breakfast as well good sir." Gilded hands him a single gp. Notices Everyone else giving huge tips and adds kind of reluctantly. "Keep the change".
"I agree with Jess on this one. I say we go after the hill giants first. That was one of the original 3 quests we had to allow the city to start trade again, and getting all of those done and freeing up the trade here before we go see Simon seems the best path. I think going to see him with proof that we can handle ourselves will carry more weight. I also think that if he doesn't want to admit what he is doing, he is going to be much tougher than the hill giant to.. persuade. If you get what I am saying there."
Gilded is trying to not just out and say they may have to fight Simon in front of Gwen.
Gilded happily gives Drez a dagger, and Kocino the scimitar.
