(OOC: Not sure how far behind I am, but Gilded does not try to sneak up, he should be coming up behind Corvus since he followed the flight of the bird to get here.)
Gilded approaches behind Corvus with no weapon drawn and his hands out. "Ma'am, I saw you rush out of the tavern being chased by these other people, I am a paladin for the God Iroas. Are you in need of assistance from these people?"
Drezmir follows the bird person--being a bit further behind than he'd like, thanks to all the chairs and tables that had somehow gotten in his way... He pulls up next to Jess just in time to hear the woman's question...so the strange figure was a woman...huh. Alright.
He crosses his arms, standing next to his new acquaintance, (Jess, who's name he didn't catch) and says, "Um, well we all saw you bolt out of there like there was a dragon in the tavern, so naturally we came to investigate. ...So why did you run off? Someone after you or something?"
Turning, he gives a small smile as Gilded also joins the scene. With a small chuckle he adds, "Some of us are rather bored, so if you have someone you need us to take care of for you, we'd be happy to do so. Free of charge."
Persuasion: In dice log: 21 (Nat 20!)
Still smiling, he looks around to see if he can spot anyone else following them from the tavern:
Perception: in dice log 6 (not so good. Man the dice just hate perception checks)
She seemed slightly surprised to see his avian issues, she had cleared her throat before speaking to him. Her voice regal and her stance was regal.
"..The name's Gwen... Gwen Dawnblade. I serve as one of the last Knight's here in Glazing Wind. Have you seen the request board..? The adventurers avoid them. Not only for the reasons mentioned on the papers. They believe them to be "Cursed" as no one has come back from them. I think.. Something else is involved. All three of those request involved disrupting trade to Glazing Wind... Seems odd yes? The guards themselves won't look into it.. Today a fellow knight told me to drop the case. So now.. I'm not sure who to trust.
She see's the Dragon Born come next.. A paladin? This eased Dawn a bit but her guard was still raised and her tensions high.
"It's all right he is not-- Wait three..? A water Genasi.. You.. Who is this third? Maybe I've already been discovered..
She looks to Dzemir, his expression and tune rather soft and alluring (nat 20 persuasion) she completely lowers her sword. Not an ounce of her guard left. The rather stern woman had began stammer slightly at his offer.
Y~Yes.. A-About that... Well...
After she calms down she begins to explain to the other two everything she had already told the Aarokocra.
"Hmm," Drezmir nods, pulling out the three posters he'd torn off the board. "I wondered why these looked like they've been sitting there forever."
He walks over to her, "Someone told you to drop the case? Which of these were you going after? Or are you searching for the connection between the three?"
He looks back at Gilded, "Looks like these quests might be more interesting then I'd originally thought."
Turning to Gwen again he says, "The name's Drezmir, but you can call me Drez. If you think there is something deeper going on here, I'd be willing to help. You see, curses and demons are kind of my specialty. Besides, Gilded and I were planning on pursuing these requests anyways. If we can knock them all out at once..well, that would be something now wouldn't it?" He smiles, once again folding up the papers and tucking them away.
"My name is Gilded." I move up beside Drez and tell her "We are at your service ma'am". Looking at the rest of the team that has surrounded the woman "Any of you that sought this woman out to help her is obviously of pure heart and I would welcome you to help us in our mission of aid".
Red eyes glinting, he relpied, "I'm called Corvus, Corvus Blackwing. Pleasure to make your acquaintance." He bows, making an extravagant motion with his left, clawed hand. "Cursed you say? Interesting. Perhaps I shall investigate this farther."
As the others catch up to them, at first he seems a bit irritated. However, when Drezmir mentions Demons, this gets his attention. "There are demons involved? Hmm, yes, I definitely need to look into this."
"I am Jess. I'm a traveler from the West, and I would be happy to help in these matters. But I am still thirsty and didn't get my drinks yet. Can we talk in the tavern?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Seeing nothing really interesting at the manor other than it certainly didn't lack guards the half elf decides it best to go somewhere else. It was probably rather creepy to just be standing and staring up at the place anyway. She should have been looking for work, but she found herself wanting to snoop around instead. There was a forest that she could see. Checking that out seemed like a good idea. She walked towards the forest but didn't go inside. Instead, she stood outside of it looking around it.
@Liara, as the half elf went through the town heading to the forest. Someone had bumped into her, a small and nimble dwarf but she could feel a hand on her side. Reaching for her coin purse! He had thought to have been sneaky but she could see his every movement and feel every subtle touch of this sneak thief. (Cause Perception 17)
" "I'm sorry lass! I'd lose my own head if it were attached to me! So clumsy! Hahaha!"
@Those in the Alley
She looks to the elf and nods at him as well as the others.
"Yes I am looking for a possible connection of those three. Curses? Demons? Hmm.. I wonder if it's truly a curse or something more.. Well never mind that. No point in concocting theories yes? Ahh such manners! A pleasure to meet you sir Gilded. Corvus Blackwing.. Yes forgive my behavior before it was most untoward of me. Ahh, Jess you say? Sure it seems I have interrupted you're drinks without meaning to do so my apologies.
She began to head back sitting down, she raised her hand from the bar tender to order any drinks for her new comrades who hadn't ordered before as well as a snack. (Salted Jerky) This time she had gotten Corvus his water. She was at the bar the whole time and.. She may have overheard what happened. She gave Corvus a playful wink handing him his water. It didn't seem the bartender charged Gwyn either.
"I hate to do this but.. If guards and knights are in on this.. These quest could be even more dangerous than I thought.. I can't get any investigation done on the manor or on the town's chief Simon. Hmm.. I feel awful asking but if you search into this.. It may create the distraction I need to do some research if the corrupt guards try to keep an eye on you. Besides.. The problems in these posters need to be handled anyway. If you guys have any ideas or questions of you're own I'm all ears
OOC: Everyone gains 50EXP! You could have fought her but instead you calmed her down. In my book that is a successful encounter and deserves EXP just as much as fighting her would have. It's 400 EXP split into 8 ways. (I do EXP share even if everyone is separate. UNLESS parties straight up split away into different towns/area's)
Jess is pleased to find the two drinks she ordered waiting for her at the bar. She also graciously accepts the salted jerky, but really her attention appears to be mostly consumed by the enjoyment of her beverages. She starts with the cheaper grog which she sniffs before accepting a mouthful, which she slowly swishes around in her mouth a bit before swallowing. She smacks her lips, trying to decide on the taste, then gives a shrug and says to herself, “I’ve had worse,” and downs the rest of it. Then she pushes that mug aside and eagerly brings the glass of the “good stuff” closer to her. She does the same tasting ritual as before, and this time her eyes light up. “Mmm that’s good,” she murmurs, and with a beckoning gesture, she causes the rest of the beverage to magically siphon up out of the cup and twine through the air into her mouth, and in this unusual manner she guzzles the rest down.
“Bartender,” she calls out, “What did you call this stuff? It’s quite good, I like it. Did you make it yourself?”
(she observed the earlier interaction with Corvus and feels a sort of compunction to try to get on his good side. She’s not really sure why, is it just to be nice or is it more of a personal challenge?)
Gilded looks at Gwen "I think that actually would be a great idea, we deal with the posters, you investigate the guards and knights. We can then meet back up to compare notes. Do you live near here, or is this tavern a good place to find you?"
He looks at his new companions "Drez and I were going to approach some of you to help us look into these issues anyway, would any of you like to join us? I believe we had decided to to look into the goblin issue first and see where that led us, but I am open to any of them if you all wish."
Corvus raises his glass of water to Gwen, before taking a drink. Then he looks at Drezmir, "May I see those posters? I would like to know what they say before jumping blindly into this...quest."
(OOC: Awesome! Looks like our group is off to a good start!)
"I thank you for you're aid, I warn you the Jet Brothers and that Hill giant are dangerous. If you can't find a larger group to help you with the Hill giant I'll be more than willing to offer my blade. While you handle the goblins however I can take this time to investigate. I'm glad you guys like the idea.
She offers a smile at first it seems.. Distant but she reaffirms her lips to smile brightly again. She stands up as she walks away, she stops for a moment turning her head. The soft locks of her hair laying upon her plate mail.
"Meet me here I'll try to come back and drink once I get anything worth reporting. I'll see what Simon's been up to.. Or at least try to anyway. Good luck!
Drezmir hands Corvus the posters, motioning for him to pass them around so that the others can get a look at them, "Yes, I think the goblin issue will be the easiest of these. Best to get that out of the way first I suppose." He nods and smiles to Gwen, "It will be our pleasure Lady Gwen, to help however we can."
Sloden follows after, perhaps too polite for his own good to interject. He follows to the tavern, and finally gets a look at these postings that had been discussed.
"Um. Excuse me, but it seems you're looking for able hands. My name is Sloden. I believe I can help with these sorts of chores, if you'd have me." His voice is suited to a small town temple somewhere, comfortable with quaint wording and strong.
After the bartender cleans his glasses and tables he looks to Jess with a low snort.
"I don't rightly know what to call it lass, I just follow the recipe handed down from me father. I'm glad you could enjoy it though and come again!"
With that Gwen gave them each a bow. Waving goodbye to Corvus and Drezmir last with a faint smile before leaving the bar room.
OOC: Notice board reminder ^^
Do you guys talk to the Black Smith about the goblins? Or simply head out the travel route highway and try to look for clues? If you head to highway please roll Survival for me ^^
1: Hill Giant Sighting!: To the reader I beg of thee! This Hill Giant has destroyed two of my caravans! I wish to bring trade back to Glazing Wind but he always knows where I'm going to come in! I thought them to be dim witted! I know a job like this is dangerous others have died trying to take the foul beast down. Many have told me he is worth at least 100 gold. Sadly I can only offer 80 gold with the lack of trade in Glazing wind. Meet me at the front of the guards barracks, I can't leave this blasted town so I'll be there anytime there is daylight.
2: Jet brothers: Please! The highway is under constant harassment by the Jet brothers! I am always laughed off when I tell everyone two bandits destroy my caravans but.. It's true! I've barely escaped with my life! They fight.. Like some sort of demons! Please be careful but I need them gone! Meet me at the end of town, my house has a light red color with an old greyhound dog. The reward will be 24 gold pieces and I have a few potions and scrolls left behind from my late uncle.
3: Goblin Horde: Dear adventurer before you protest "Goblin's? Isn't the oldest of Cliche? One for the guards?" I tell you that may be the case with one or two.. But there are ten goblins! Many people tell me Goblins are too lowly a job for them to handle but... Like many other merchants I struggle to make ends meet. Come to Black Smith if you wish to take on this job! I can only offer 32 gold pieces for the job I'm afraid. But I may be willing to part with a weapon or two for a job well done!
As they pass the posters around, Drezmir gratefully accepts the jerky and drink. It felt like ages since he'd been able to afford his own food, as he'd been saving what little money he had left after his departure from home. He hadn't been given much to start with, but that was the way of things.
When Gwen departs, he returns her wave with a smile of his own.
He leans back in his seat, left hand toying with the sword on his hip. It was a longsword, but of a style quite different to those seen in the area. Its hilt was long, but the guard was quite small and rounded. In the hilt itself was carved from ivory, and the guard was made from bronze and engraved with the shape of a snarling fox head. The bronze pommel had three red tassels tied to it as well.
He nods to Sloden, "It will be good to have you Sloden. My name is Drezmir, and this is Gilded." He gestures to his Dragonborn friend before introducing the rest of the group as well.
"Well, I am ready to head out as soon as everyone else is," he says. "No point in waiting around. Who all is coming?"
"Pardon me, but it appears the smith might know something of the goblins. Starting there seems wise." Sloden will lead/follow etc anyone who heads to the smith's.
This is moving fast, so I'm just going to put this ahead of time: sloden will certainly attempt an insight check on the smith regarding the job, the town, and the mansion. If there is something nefarious at work on the roads, the simplest way to keep tabs on who tries to take those jobs on would be to have the ones offering the job in on the scheme. He's looking for signs of wealth/poverty, and searching out any demeanor at odds with what the smith says. Ok thank you lol
