Drez quickly unlocks the door and reaches for the sword inside. His first instinct told him to check for traps, but that seemed silly since he would have been warned ahead of time. Once he has the blade in tow, he nods to Corvus and then starts towards the shining guild.
He does in fact find a blade. embroided in a golden sheath. The sword has runes across the steel and hilt itself but the blade appears to be fractured. Upon the hilt says Frost and on the blade itself it says "Flame." The Dawn's Flame, the Ashbluff blade. "From flame comes ash and from ash rebirth." He can feel.. A weight of sorts holding this longsword. Though he's able to make it back to the Shining guild just in time to catch Kocino's conversation with the bar keep Flynn.
However at the bar in a table far from the others on his own. Was the old elf Herron, he seemed at the corner awaiting Drezmir and the others he had looked over but had made an effort not to bring attention to himself.
“Hmm… We can probably do without them. Thought I should ask about them.” Kocino sees Drezmir enter and waves him over. “I think the boards are out. Were you successful?”
Corvus gives the sword an odd look, before nodding back to Drezmir and following the half-elf back to the inn.
Noting Herron waiting in the corner, Corvus continues to follow Drezmir when Kocino waves him over. Once there, he looks to Drezmir, choosing to remain silent for now.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Drez frowns at the blade for a moment. Ashbluff? What does that mean? Perhaps he'll ask Arthur about it when next they meet.
History (just in case): 12
He wonders at the weight, then shrugs it off as best he can. It likely has something to do with the magic of the sword. Maybe Flynn can fill him in since he's asked him to carry it until he can give it to Leo's group. He takes a piece of cloth from wherever he can in the house and wraps the sword and scabbard to keep it hidden to a degree, then he slings it over his back and carries it out.
He comes over when Kocino beckons to him, and raises an eyebrow when Flynn says that the boards are for certain guild members. Hadn't he said that they could try them? "Oh well, we'll have to try them some other time then." He nods to Kocino, "Yes, it's taken care of." He looks to Flynn, "I have the blade... would you mind giving me a little more information about it? If you cannot I understand. I just would like to know what it is I'm carrying since it seems to hold a measure of power."
Once he's gotten his answer, he locates Herron and motions for his party members to follow. "I see you don't wish to bring attention to yourself. Is this a fair place to meet or would you rather take our conversation elsewhere?"
Drezmir can't remember anything special about the name but he did recall something simple. Leonard Ashbluff, that was his surname but as for it's historical meaning? He couldn't recall any.
As Drezmir comes to Flynn he gets them all a drink, on the house it seemed. A grateful expression plastered across his face.
"I.. Couldn't tell you, or rather I don't fully know the Ashbluff's history or past. They are old friends of mine but.. That sword's origin is a bit of a mystery to me I just knew.. It was the heirs blade and held a great weight in that family. With Leonard gone.. that blade would have vanished from history without you."
As Drezmir had come to Herron he had taken a small drink from a tiny glass looking them all over with careful eyes.
"I've cast a few enchantement spells, we aren't invisible to the patrons here by any means but our presence is.. Lessened to say the least. I think sometimes hiding in plain sight is the best, taking large groups behind closed doors as an ambassador could raise questions.. Or rumors of assassination. Cerron is already certain that is my aim and I'm sure he has me under watch from one of these patrons... Thus the precaution of my enchantments. I must admit, you all impressed me by Glazing Winds but realistically speaking I am not sure how great I can trust you. You've earned Gwen's trust but she is naive by nature and was perhaps too soft on her brother. I had analyzed the situation on why you'd aid Glazing Winds. To gain a title? Power? Wealth? Yet.. Glazing Winds had little too offer with much risk. Which lead me to a few possible conclusions.. Either we shared a common enemy.. In the Vintsvent rat. Or you all are a rare sort with a spirit that hasn't shone in quite some time. Either way, you're resolve cannot be questioned. So.. I come to you with my plea."
He had crossed his fingers together taking a deep breath before looking them all over again. Unflinching eye contact as he tried his best to gather a read on each of them. (DC 15 deception to hide any body language tied to one's thoughts.)
"Radiance.. Cannot solve this alone surely you know this. You've earned Glazing Winds trust and after the Chimera.. You may earn Radiance's. If you can do that, I would ask that you travel the lands. I would offer you papers, protege's of an ambassador or if you'd feel better as an independent group I understand. That if you would gain their trust.. And help me forge a treaty so the world will fight.. As one. This isn't just one power hungry dragon like many believe.. I'm afraid the threat is much larger than that."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kocino sits with Drezmir and Herron. “You aren’t wrong, but Gwen is as smart as she is naïve. We earned her trust the old-fashioned way and when she was sure of our intentions, she let us help her.” Kocino leans in towards Herron. “If we are equally smart, we would avoid trusting you for the time being. See, my friends and I just walked in to the castle and spoke openly about a traitor. A clever traitor would be covering their tracks or buying themselves time and trust.” Kocino leans back in the seat, twirling a wooden spoon in his fingers. ”With all that being said, I’m inclined to do a bit of work under your purview. If my friends agree, that is.”
Herron had leaned back looking to Kocino with a raised eyebrow before taking another sip.
"I see, and pray tell how did you prove those intentions? I mean no disrespect to you proud Shadir Kai. It is only that I worry of Gwen leading that town and it's militia."
That's when Kocino had spoken of trust and caution and this.. This had caused Herron's eyes to light up slightly. The closest to a smile, a curl of his lower lip but it was no true smile.
"Wise, that only proves to me further you may be the right people for this job. Trust no one, no one is not a suspect. I want you to unify this land against a common threat.. But I do not want you to eagerly trust anyone that includes even myself. You should only want to unify the people so that this world may persevere do not rely on faith in others alone."
OOC Is Kocino rolling deception to hide his true feelings? Or is he lying?
Also I loved the post Barbosa nice! It's interesting to get some insight on Kocino I loved it!
Jess finds her way back to the others after finishing her little errand. Hopefully in time to catch the conversation with Herron. She sits quietly, thinking, listening to Herron's proposition, then says,
"We came to find the Vintsvent rat. But you would have us leave?"
She has no body language to hide, she's being direct with this Herron.
Drez nods at Flynn's words, "I understand. Thanks anyway. I'll see to it that this gets to Leo's comrades."
As usual, Drez makes no attempt to hide his body language or intentions. Even though Herron has him on edge after their last meeting, he still won't let the elf shake his beliefs or change his nature. He puts on his usual smile and listens carefully to Herron's plea. Once the elf has had his say Drez is about to speak up but then Kocino is faster. He gives a bit of a start, realizing that he was the one who spoke openly about a traitor and...well it might not have been the smartest thing to do in hindsight. Still, he thinks they can trust the king so he does his best to put whatever small measure of regret he might feel aside.
Once Kocino and Jess have spoken, Drez finds himself a little irked. How can they hope to unify a world without trust? The entire concept didn't make any sense. Letting out a breath he says, "I don't know where your assumptions of Gwen come from, but I am sure she will surprise you. Believe what you will on that front. All that matters is that she has confidence in herself, and that those she trusts have faith in her." He stops himself, realizing that he's probably overstepping with his defense of Gwen. This isn't supposed to be a conversation about her, so he should put his personal feelings aside shouldn't he?
Clearing his throat he says, "You wish for a united world. That sounds like a worthy goal, and I will willingly aid you however I can." He smiles briefly, "After the Chimera? Either this beast is weak, or you are showing some faith in us."He chuckles lightheartedly before assuming a more serious expression. Knowing putting his own thoughts on the issue of trust forward would result in little more than a rather one sided argument, he decides (for once) to keep his mouth shut on the matter. "Would you mind explaining what you think is going on? You say this isn't just a power hungry dragon, so what then? I have heard little about the beast aside from its existence and the amount of trouble it is causing. Does this have anything to do with your search for the blushing bloom?" He says the name of the flower in a lower voice in case others are listening in. "And, if you say you don't want us to trust you. Should I then trust you with what information we have gathered on said flower?"
He waits for a response, hoping his words didn't come off as provocative as that is not what his intentions were.
Corvus remained silent for a time while his companions spoke their minds. A low chuckle rumbles in his throat, and his red eyes flash. Herron's ideals seem to align with his own, which means he should be wary of this man. "Like Cerron you speak wise words. Trust is to be earned, not freely given." He gives a sidelong glance in Drezmir's direction. "Though as I said before, sometimes risks must be taken." Metalic clinking sounds from his sleeve as he leans back in his chair a contrast to the sound of his wingtips brushing the floor softly. "I will not disagree with your view of Lady Gwen as I share that perspective including her softness towards her brother. Though I would be lying if I said she wasn't capable perhaps with time....and perhaps some guidance...she will make a fine leader for Glazing winds." He blinks, "I have my own reasons for aiding that town, reasons that I will not be sharing at this table. As for a common enemy, that may be true, though that rat is likely but a pawn in the grand scheme of things. Either way the pest needs to be dealt with. As for your...plea...I do not particularly care about uniting the nations, however I am not opposed to aiding in that endeavor. As I've traveled with this group I have become aware that this dragon issue may be linked to my personal goals. As you are clearly aware, there are far worse things than dragons that roam this world." He pauses and nods towards Drezmir, "Like my companion here, I too wish to hear what you believe is the true threat. I am also curious about this Blushing Bloom." He is a bit impressed that Drezmir had the idea to actually question the old elf, perhaps he's finally realizing that he shouldn't always trust his trusting nature.
Deception: 22 (Corvus doesn't want Herron to catch on to the fact that he is a bit wary of him. He's keeping up his usual demeanor.)
Insight on Herron: 21 (Nat 20!) He's trying to see how Herron is perceiving him and his group, along with how genuine his words are. As always, Corvus wants to make sure he's not about to be used.
Herron looks to her as he folds his arms a moment looking her over. His eyes narrow a bit as he looks upon her.
"Hmm.. I would not steal you from this expedition of the chimera. Handling that will earn you Radiance's trust which could prove useful in my request."
He than turned his attention toward Kocino his old eyes looking almost through Kocino in that moment.
"Simply took jobs? I see.. Perhaps a stroke of luck than. However, Simon I doubt was merely a job on a board."

Herron's insight
Herron however maintained a stony expression toward Jess and his slight expression to Kocino before has faded to that same expression. At least that was until Drezmir had spoke himself. There was a hint.. Of something in his eyes it was hard to make out the slightest wrinkle in his somewhat wrinkled nose.
Faith in herself? In her allies? Faith and confidence, almost spoken like a templer or a paladin. Still you're strong convictions may dissuade a calm outlook at times it can be necessary for the grit of battle.
Drezmir's comment on the chimera had caused Herron to blink a moment. He was trying to conceal whatever this emotion was.. But he had cleared his throat and looked back to him.
"I do not underestimate this beast by any measure. On all accounts I simply am sure those who had defeated Simon and had not feared him enough to slay him afterwards.. However reckless that choice may be. Those same people would have the grit and talent to face a Chimera.. Even this one. It's a wild one. I would have handled it had I the time but.. I've an important may to track down and he does not make things simple."
There is a pause.. One..Two.. Maybe three moments before he speaks once more.
"I am grateful for you're aid in this endeavor"
Herron had gave another expression that seemed stony faced but his eyes had narrowed as Drezmir asked upon the dragon.
"A scholar are you? Or must a hunter know it's prey? As for the dragon's origins.. It is not safe enough here to share that even with my magic I cannot take that chance. I can say.. The dragon is indeed tied to the Blushing Bloom. ..Hm? You've gathered information on the flower? Is that so? Heh.. I suppose if I have proven myself for that information I can accept that. Caution is paramount."
It is than.. That the growling and dark Aarakocra had spoken. Herron listened to the metallic clinking and his words upon trust and Gwen.
"Risk must be calculated, trust in mutual benefit. Careful caculations should be taken on both sides of negotiating parties so that one walks away deceived or mislead. Ahh, you see the risk than? In the approach with Simon. Yet you see potential in her.. All of you are so divided and so different but you share a different sort of faith in her. In her strength of will, I suppose only time will tell."
OOC For Herron's answer to Drezmir of the bloom and the dragon would also be his to Corvus I didn't wanna make the post boring and he repeat himself.
Also for Corvus insight I shall PM you ^^
And you're deception can be uesd against his insight upward
Corvus nods to the old elf's answer as if expecting it, then his beak twists into a smirk at hearing Herron's last comment. "I couldn't agree more with that logic." Then the smile vanishes. "Though I would like to hear more about this dragon issue, the Vinsvent rat, and this Blushing Bloom." His eyes flick to Drezmir, pass over the rest of the group, then fall back on the elf. "Perhaps we can speak more of it after this chimera is dealt with. I understand the need to find a...quieter location...for such sensitive topics. If we are to work together, we must be willing to share and and all information on this."
Drez nods, "Alright then, like Corvus said, we can talk about the dragon and the flower after my comrades and I deal with the Chimera. Perhaps we can then find a safer place to discuss the matter." He glances at his comrades, "When do you all wish to depart for our battle? If you need some more time to prepare I am not opposed to that."
He chooses to ignore Herron's comment on their choice to keep Simon alive. Right now, he has zero regrets on that front whereas he somehow feels like if they had done the deed he might.
”As soon as possible would be preferential, as the task seems to have become a bit of a bottleneck to achieving more of our true aims. I suggest first thing in the morning.”
Herron looks over Corvus,Drezmir,Jess,Kocino before taking another sip from his clay ornate cup. The tavern had slowly begun to become a bit.. More lively yet again.
"I'd offer to buy you all rooms but.. It seems Flynn has already taking a liking to you're entourage. I do hope we can continue this conversation on a later date as you've all stated."
He had looked to Corvus before looking to Drezmir for a moment. A strange glint in his eye before he had begun to leave the tavern and with that it seemed the tavern had become louder and louder before returning to it's original state.
OOC They can role play or fast forward to the morning up to you all ^~^
Jess will ask the innkeeper if there is somewhere in the city like a park or gardens, somewhere with less city bustle and more things growing. She will head there and find the largest tree, sit under its boughs, hand on its trunk, and there she will sit for an extended period of time, quietly. She is feeling the tree, studying its growth, trying to intuitively “listen” to what it may have to say about this region, the weather, the climate, the soil. Mainly she is just trying to exhale out all the metropolitan and societal issues that have crowded her mind of late, and remembering the simple elegance of the natural world. Before it gets very late, while there are still people out in the streets, she will return to the inn, feeling recalibrated and refreshed. She is looking forward to a restful night. She will barricade her room door as she has previously done. A lady can never be too cautious, especially in the city. After the long rest is accomplished, she does intend to change her prepared spell list.

Jess says,
”As soon as possible would be preferential, as the task seems to have become a bit of a bottleneck to achieving more of our true aims. I suggest first thing in the morning.”
Kocino thinks for a moment. “I agree. The faster we accomplish this, the better.”

They can role play or fast forward to the morning up to you all ^~^
Jess will ask the innkeeper if there is somewhere in the city like a park or gardens, somewhere with less city bustle and more things growing.
