"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
For the next five hours of the trip, no more ambushes take place. At least, not on your small caravan. Whether you wanted to or not, it appears Rhogar decides to get chummy with everyone and begins to speak at length about his backstory. The way he tells it is quite dramatic and over the top. In another life, Rhogar could have been an actor of some kind given his charisma and flare for dramatics. However, it would seem in this life, he is a simple paladin-in-training.
Rhogar of the Thunderfang clan tells a story that is hard to follow. First, it seems like what he is describing is just your typical story -- a young man bound by the rites of tradition and whatnot enters the service of his god, named Bahamut. Bahamut, from how Rhogar speaks of him, is your standard goody-two-shoes sort of god that more or less tells his followers to go out and smote evil. Rhogar, by extension, seems to have a mostly black and white picture of the world... and morality. However, in the last hour of his tale, because he definitely spoke at you for at least two hours, it would appear that Rhogar -- at some point in time -- teleported to Toril, the name of this world.
At this, Alice did a double take. Apparently she was skulking nearby, eavesdropping, and couldn't help but make an audible noise of confusion when he revealed he came from some world called Abeir. At this point, Edwyn squinted at the dragonborn. It was clear from Edwyn's expression that he didn't believe a word of what this incredibly earnest dragonborn said. Alice, however, joined this one-sided conversation. She seemed really invested for some reason in what Rhogar was talking about.
"... and so you see, my friends, I am a dragonborn from another world, but I managed to come here somehow with my clan. I hope to forge a future where all my people can come to Toril and be free from our dragon masters!"
"... wait, dragon masters?" Alice asked.
Before Rhogar could launch into another incredibly detailed explanation about whatever it was he was going on about, the caravan came to a sudden halt. Momo, the halfling woman who is accompanying Andar Rockseeker (both of whom are simply commoners that can't fight their way out of a wet paperbag), calls out to all four of you. "Trouble ahead... dead horses by the looks of it."

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
P.T. is flat-faced throughout the entirety of Rhogar's story, only raising his eyebrow at that final part. Well, now, he hadn't pinned this dragonborn for a the lying type. Perhaps there was hope for him yet. And then, along came the horses. P.T. hops down from the caravan, and begin to approach them, weapons drawn. "Careful, now. This looks like trouble. Keep your eyes on the trees. Alice, I'm going to go check these out, cover me. Edwyn... do magic, I guess. Rhogar... I don't know, stay with the others, make sure to defend them." With that, P.T. approaches the horses, eyes on his surroundings.

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
[heh its only been 15 days, I swear I'm not a bad guy...!]
P.T. looks about his surroundings and finds that he is being watched. Based on the smell, which somehow permeates the air along with the scent of death, P.T. can reasonably assume there are goblins lurking in the bushes on either side of the road. Having just fought some, he wouldn't soon forget their unique smell. Giving a few quick glances, trying to conceal that he knew they were there, he pinpoints about 4 goblins. They are hiding pretty well, but P.T. is able to discern a few shifting bushes, a pointed ear, and other visible signs of where they were hiding exactly.
Looking back at Alice, P.T. can see her eyes are lingering around the bush concealing one of the goblins. Based on her relaxed stance, she is trying to keep the intel on the lowdown as well. Edwyn seems taken aback by your command, but he obliges anyway. He walks over to the horse corpses, his eyes flashing with faint light as he is, no doubt, detecting any magic. Rhogar is.. being Rhogar much to Momo and Andar's chagrin.
Outside of these happenings, the only other thing of note is an expensive looking map case nearby the horses. There seems to be initials engraved upon it, but the script is so fancy, you can't make it out right now.
Suddenly, your combat senses tingle. If you don't make a move now, the goblins will strike! Right now, you have an upperhand of sorts. If you go first you might be able to take them out in a single round of blows.
[This is me telling you that you can have a surprise round against the gobbos. There are 4. Everyone will obey your commands and go wherever you point. You can assume every goblin is inside everyone's range of their preferred attack.]

P.T. tenses up, then immediately springs into action. He rushes for the goblin closest to him and Rhogar, as Rhogar heads that direction too. He lunges at it just as Rhogar passes, hopefully catching the goblin off guard and allowing for a sneak attack. Rhogar rushes past, sword drawn, and strikes the next closest goblin. Meanwhile, Edwyn fires an eldritch blast at the farthest goblin, while Alice sticks close to the caravan, firing off an arbalest bolt at the last untargeted gobin.

P.T. darts forward with their rapier, the goblin dodging left and right, trying to avoid the blade. But P.T. is too quick for the goblin to evade, and the blade finds its mark, dropping the goblin to the ground.
Edwyn steps up, conjuring an Eldritch blast that shoots out from his hands in a bright blue beam. The goblin tries to run, but the beam hits it squarely in the back, sending it flying forward, dead before it hits the ground.
Rhogar roars, charging at another goblin with his longsword held high. The goblin brandishes a scimitar, but it is no match for Rhogar's strength. The dragonborn brings the sword down with a powerful strike, cleaving the goblin in two.
Alice hangs back, silently watching the battle, waiting for the right moment to strike. As the last goblin turns to run, she raises her arbalest and fires. The bolt strikes the goblin in the back, and it falls to the ground, unmoving.
Dryly, Alice remarks, "I hope you didn't need any of them alive..."

"We are in agreement there." Edwyn smiles as he pockets the agate. "Say, let's return to our game of chess, shall we?"
